That whole birthday party set really is gorgeous. But I was the same way -- I never thought to ask for the play sets, because the dolls were already such a huge purchase. I felt lucky enough that my parents gave me two dolls (Samantha and Felicity), with one extra outfit set for each (Samantha's cloak and Felicity's undergarments). And now I suddenly somehow have eight dolls and a whole closet of clothes... Whoops!

I'm not sure if there's another collection similar to American Girl Dolls here, though my brother-in-law has a pretty impressive Star Wars action figure/playset collection. I know beanie babies were big when I was little. Though, I guess most things can form great collections if you like them enough! I'm glad you enjoyed this video! Maisie is doing great! My oldest daughter (33) had Molly. She lost her somehow over the years. My second (& last) daughter got Bitty Baby when she was 3. She loves her still. She also decided to save her birthday, Christmas and other money to buy Kit when she was a tween. She probably was a bit old for the dolls by then, but she didn't care. She still loves her. We read many if not all of the books that the library had & bought a few at the time ourselves. We like books. I have enjoyed all the AG content here and on IG!! Thanks for sharing it all with us. and I am so happy you finally have the AG stuff you wished for so long!!

I was definitely a bit old for the dolls by the end of my collecting, but I still loved them. (Funny story, when my husband saw the pictures from the American Girl Place he said, "Wait, how old were you?! From the way you were talking, I was picturing you being, like, six or seven. Were you the oldest one there?!")

I just found you through Lady Rebecca Fashion’s new video, and I love this journey through time! I’m a Samantha girl too. The story of how you got her is absolutely hilarious! I wasn’t able to get any of the dolls as a kid, but they inspired my interest in historical fashion, and as an adult, I ended up working at an American Girl store and becoming a collector. Just subscribed, and can’t wait to check out some of your other videos!

I enjoy collecting the books as well. I do like the white covers best because of nostalgia, but the colored spines are nice, too. I love that your husband tracked down so many books for you. I had been collecting Barbies, Dawn and other adult dolls since I was about 3 which was when I learned to sew. I got the catalog and fell in love. They were so beautiful, I got the paper dolls first because that's what I could afford. Then I began collecting the little dolls. I actually didn't get an 18" one until I turned 45 and my brother and his wife bought me Josefina at the Southern California Store! When my oldest was around 8, her 11 & 9-year-old cousins got American Girl dolls. So, of course, my daughter wanted one, too. We custom-made one with brown hair, brown eyes, and freckles so it looked like her. Then there were trips to the American Girl Store in Los Angeles, American Girl teas, etc. Her then 5-year-old brother felt left out, so on one trip to the American Girl Store, I told him he could pick something out. I thought he'd go for one of the pets. Nope. He wanted an American BOY Bitty Baby (male, of course, and it wasn't an American GIRL doll, thank you very much). and the dinosaur PJs. He's 16 and still has it. And it's still not an American Girl doll, LOL.
