    After purchasing 100's of educational books on Jewelry. I first studied metals, materials, techniques, design,gems and findings. It's been 20 yrs of research, identification, valuation and nearly a thousand pounds of jewelry to this day and I've yet to learn every single thing there is to know about jewelry. Now I'm learning to perfect my listing title and descriptions. There is tons of information about jewelry and in order to maximize your profits and be successful it's critical to know what you have. Great video, I love jewelry

      "Trust your gut" when thrifting turns into "know thy eye" with jewelry -- and we can always get tripped, but I suggest to learn by sitting metals side by side where you can look at them closely and do so under different lighting to be thorough and handle them to learn what they look like -- or you can compare them to your wedding ring if you haven't stepped down on that already.

    Absolutely loved this!! So my so called NICHE started 3 years ago with jewelry. Not just a little, I mean a lot!!!! Jewelry cherry picking led me down a road of uncontrollable HOARDS of jewelry!!!
    Buying blueboxs every Friday night not just 1, nope many!!!
    Months ago I knew I had to get my arse in gear and do something about it!!
    Then along came a “RUclipsr” named TECH, so while working on this “sickness” that was plaguing my business, I decided to listen!!!
    Incredibly happy I did!!!
    I am still selling jewelry plus my other wonderful finds but I do NOT buy JEWELRY LOTS In bulk anymore!! Plus my piles are 98% listed or sold now!!!
    Desiree you are correct on so many levels on jewelry selling!! That title at times will drive one crazy 😜
    Thank you both for this podcast!! 👍👏👍

      THANK YOU April!!! I agree, learning from Tech totally changed the game for me too!!! And YES... I rarely buy bulk/mystery jewelry lots anymore either, unless I can see exactly what's inside them and/or the lots are manifested in some way. Thanks again for your sweet comment, and congrats on making those sales!!! 🤩🤩🤩

    I remember having to research things in an encyclopedia. I laughed when Tech said his mom gave him the encyclopedias because I'm a mom, and I tell my kids to ask Alexa or we can Google it later. Yes, a big part is to feed their thirst for knowledge, but it is also to get me out of answering a hundred back-to-back questions. Every now and then, a question will come up that will take the kids and I down a rabbit hole and we hyperfocus on the topic until we've exhausted ourselves learning all we can about it. When I finally got diagnosed as an adult with ADHD, it suddenly made so much sense!

Desiree, you have a heart of gold (no pun intended) & @technsports has the business down regardless of what we are selling. Nice job! Also, I google every word or item we talk about in the group to which I don't know what it is . Wow the discussion about reading the encyclopedia brought me back. I was the same way, my parents had a whole collection of encyclopedias in their library and even during the summer I was reading them.
    Nice episode though! I sell clothing and I wouldn't even know where to start with jewelry just because I'm so used to thinking about brands. And I agree about the inventory discussion, if anything, there will be more inventory coming on the market as the boomer generation ages.

    This was a great listen! I use to dream of making a living as an artist and designed my own gemstone and resin jewelry. Tech has this way of bringing things into perspective. I agree so much with the aesthetic or "cores" that trend - all the jewelry i bought was inspired by mermaidcore / sirencore. I think barbiecore / pink is still going to be in this year defending on the new Mean Girls movie coming out, if it doesn't become a parody of itself. I'm still trying to accept the fact that how i dressed in highschool is vintage now 😅

    Great video, I've been collecting vintage jewelry for over 25 years and began selling on eBay for the past 2 or 3 yrs. I would say for me what sells are lots and singles as long as they are highly collectible and desirable , the vintage market is like any other market it has it's peaks and valleys but commemorative moments are great times to sell certain pieces. For instance, I have a blue faux sapphire ring that was made by KJL and sold through QVC , the ring was a replica of Princess Diana's sapphire ring, in this case it would be best to try and sell this piece during the next anniversary of her death or maybe around her birthday. In addition there are very many factors like age, era and signature or markings. I will buy lots and go through to find anything that I can sell individually then I will flip the remainder of the lot to get back my money invested (and many times I can get more) then I sell the singles on their own.

    • @jewelryresellerspodcast
      @jewelryresellerspodcast  4 месяца назад +1

      Wow, that's fantastic! Yes I have a very similar system to what you do. Whenever I buy a lot, I try and make sure at least one piece in it covers the price of the entire lot. Wonderful tips!!!

    I see a business
    In hitting the specific places that American
    Pickers go…the packed homes and businesses that they are practically
    In and out of…are full of curated vintage….And those particular people want to sell!
    Desiree!
    A dorables…Dream team
    Estate liquidation LLC
    such a winning smile!
    Such a winning style!
    Also when downsizing to a senior
    Living facility it would be wonderful to have someone with a real heart to assist…many without family may have to abandon their belongings if they end up in the hospital and then are admitted straight to an old folks home to “mend”
    Having a company that took pride in actually assisting the still living with money from the collections they have now decided to sell would be a modern and healthy new take on traditional estate liquidation…
    Preciate you too mr. Sports…thrifting and baseball are like peanut butter and jelly😊

    I do roughly 80% auctions and 20% Buy it Now/Best Offers.

    I’m in the UK by the way.

    • @jewelryresellerspodcast
      @jewelryresellerspodcast  5 месяцев назад +1

      I don't think you're the only one who does auctions, but if you're asking in relation to jewelry, I think most jewelry sellers do BIN just because they want to get the highest sale price possible so they don't lose money. But yes, in general, jewelry typically does have a longer STR so it's not quick money at all.

  • @mrststreasures9628

    I agree - I can really struggle with photographing jewelry - some materials can cast a terrible glare - how do some of you deal with that issue. I am using an android phone for photos & photo box. And it is only certain materials.

    • @jewelryresellerspodcast
      @jewelryresellerspodcast  5 месяцев назад +1

      For the most part, I just do the best I can and if there is a glare, I try to reposition the light. I know one trick is to stand back further away and then you zoom in and snap the pic. The quality won't be great, but you'll should have more than one pic anyway that clearly shows the item.
