Last time I checked, a cat showing you their belly and letting you rub it is the ultimate sign of affection and trust, _because_ they're so vulnerable in that area.
@@czjornymurzyn yes it is, but it was the play one, if cats were actually playing they'll not bite harder, or if they're not playing then? Huh. .
Often when I see a cat on the street they come up and I stroke them a bit and then they flop and start rolling around on the ground. I heard it means they see you as a friend, but if I try to rub their belly they normally look at me weird like "what are you doing?" or start attacking lol

Well there are always exceptions to the rule and this also tends to differ between cat races, as some are much more keen to such things as others and some can get very aggro quick, when the mentioned things happen.
But in general this is absolutely right and its not looking pretty, when the territory cat rips his copmpetitors belly to shreds with the fangs and claws and in turn, if you even think of touching them there, they would go berserk at you and even chew your fingers off...aka sink their fangs in.
Also Cats always have one goto person, which is usually allowed to go further than everyone else, so what you can do, can be seen as threatening to them with others and they will react accordingly.
Honesty these rules only apply to cats that you just adopted/got, bcuz surely a cat that has lived with you for a year or more will be friendly with you and BEGS for attention

my first two cats do not like belly rubs except for from me, my next cat loves them and I think I learned a lot from the first two - all strays, the first two were thrown out of a car and the third one was hiding underneath my house.
I don't know why I explained cats like they're a new concept but it's too late now I've committed to it and in my defense it's 4AM.
Staring can be defused by long slow blinks and looking slightly away, which cats themselves do to people quite often. To people they just seem sleepy, but the cat is actually saying “I’m not hunting you, which proves that we are friends,” and they appreciate the same gesture in return.

No, it's the showing your belly that shows their trust, it's that they trust you not to attack. I mean your cat might just like belly rubs but you know.
Exceptions:
1. Just read the comments lol- If your cat likes belly rubs, they will communicate that through purring and/or not attacking you in aggression obviously
2. You can slowly blink at your cat to show that you’re not being aggressive, and if they blink back then you have a strong bond ❤️ if their pupils dilate as you stare at them, be prepared for them to pounce playfully
3. If your cat loves attention, don’t ignore it, obviously. A good sign to stop is if they walk away with their tail down or sit somewhere out of reach.
And a secret 4! All cats have different personalities, and it takes time to learn how to get along.
Also with the staring you can close your eyes for a few seconds as a sign you are not a threat

@@ParisIsABird A lot of cats are like this. The belly rubs one is kind of true, but mostly applies to random cats you meet and some skittish pets you might own, a lot of cats will tolerate you or even enjoy getting their belly rubbed, and even if they don't enjoy it most will take it as a sign of play and won't legitimately attack you. Domesticated cats are pretty chill creatures for the most part, and tbh it's rarer than you think to find a mean and aggressive cat. We had a "mean" cat when I was younger but she just didn't like strangers, she was super sweet to us all the time. The other 2 cats I've had since then are super nice sweethearts who would never hurt anyone, and my cat Skitty especially loved belly rubs before he died. Other people's cats I've met at their houses have all been super nice too!! And the personality info for most cats at the pet store say they're complete sweethearts they just can't be around other pets or small children cuz it's stresses them out.
Idk sorry for ranting, I just REALLY love cats and I dislike that people always assume they're super mean and cold toward their owners. They're usually just as sweet as dogs but in a much more chilled out manner, and when they do that random biting thing that people talk about they're usually trying to play with you (which is why they do it softly, if they were actually trying to attack you then you'd already be covered in blood).

I was thinking the same thing about all 3 of my cats 🤣🤣 2 of mine get mad if you don't have staring contests. All 3 of then love tummy rubs and get offended if you don't. One of them decides to scream from 1am-7am because no one is paying attention to him. 😅
My cat gives off big lobotomy energy

Me, narrowing my eyes at my adult as cat who sleeps in my bed, lays on my face if I don’t cuddle her and will sit outside my room and scream until she can come in for bed time
Sameeee
Sameee, and I have four cats that are this way.
My cat follows me around the house all day. She stays in the room I’m in and comes up to me and pats me on the arm to get attention. She is extremely friendly and wants tons of petting. She also rolls over for me to rub her belly.
My cat loves hit tummy rubs and stears and starts to blink at me andcome give me kisses like crazy❤. And especially when i cradle him like a baby.
“Cats don’t like too much attention”
The Cat: “ahhh that’s nice… ok now you’re being a bit too clingy for me”

Mine had a good reason. Was thrown at with rocks as a lil pub. Didn't go near childs as soon as they could move. If any other animal dared to approach baby me and brother baby it'd get finish smashed
The reason I have an extreme high respect of the claws of the cat.

My cat is super affectionate and wants all the attention and hugs and kisses she can get!!!
There are cats that are extremely affectionate, loving and lay all over their owners.
I look into our cats eyes for hours, they appreciate attention overload. Our cats roll over to have their stomachs rubbed.
Every cat is different.
If your cat loves belly rubs. It means that your cut loves and trusts you so much.
They probably didn’t have any vacks
Just commented about this. Animals are individual souls, as are humans. All depends on the bond and level of trust.
Very good point each cat is unique and different. My cat is comfortable w me and likes some belly rubs but not too many
Fun fact: if your cat flops over and lets you see their belly, they trust you.
My dad was watching a cat for a family member and he'd always roll on his belly and attack your hands if you didn't play with him

@@10_98L Hi
Why's no one talking about how the kitten is watching Ben Shapiro 😭🤣
If you ever find yourself staring at your cat, to dissolve the aggression, blink slowly. This shows the cat that you are relaxed and thus non-threatening.
Non threatening 😂 I literally feed you the whole time
@@lostsoul4317 Still. I do this with my cat all the time and I've seen better results from it then most cat owners.
You could also soften your expression, they read body language and can tell if your non threatening.

All these depend upon what type of cat personality you’re dealing with…
Exactly.
My cat is the sweetest most wimpy cat in the world, she would never attack me nor anyone else💕
Thank you
Here’s the thing one of my cats is old and scared of everyone and we have to be gentle with her, and my other cat is too stupid to argue about anything 😏😅
Also my old cat likes to give me little kisses 😘
My cat literally loves belly rubs, she also continuously stares at me, right in the eyes. She’s never attacked me.
That means your cat trusts you and loves you so much!
@WW1 V1nce cuh with artillery O-O

Slowly blink at your cat! It’s like a smile for them. :)
This is true.
yes!

It’s a sign of trust. Slow blinking means you trust them not to hurt you between blinks.

im 99% almost all cats are spoiled jerks 😂
7 of my cats are my shadows and the one remaining lives with my sister bc he loves her and only her. She can't even close her bathroom's door without starting a war on her house. He takes it very seriously. And so are mine. They are needy as fluff.

@Linda Torres o ok
Just goes to show how much people misunderstand cats. Once you establish trust with them, you can do all of this without bothering them.
Yeah I was about to say, this is a complete fact. I don't understand why everyone says cats are like aloof and cold and distant. I mean they can be if the cat doesn't like you but if a cat likes you then it doesn't have much problem with you at all.
I spray my cats with water sometimes if they are doing something I don't like. Do they secretly enjoy it? They do tend to repeat the thing I sprayed them for tho...
Speaking of, Ember just jumped on top of my TV and is attacking my mouse cursor again, cats just like to play with all mice.
Exactly this!
@@heruhcanedean About spray, maybe just not afraid of that drizzle of water and just find it annoying at best or they just get used at it.
I disagree about the mice though, you can simply play with them with a plastic straw consistently and they'll stop playing with things that you dont like. The key is to be consistent with it, consistent as in never play with them using anything else and to always play with them daily.
I personally use Jason Galaxy video as reference and it works so far, say hi to your cat from me.
