My autistic son’s treatments were denied so many times by United Healthcare that Child Protective Services showed up at my house. I would receive denial letters from United weekly. Due to United’s denials, my son was able to receive Medicaid. My experience with United caused so much trauma that I will NEVER forget they could have caused my child to be taken from me. I think that my son was flagged as a high cost patient since he had epilepsy for so many years, requiring for him to be hospitalized multiple times. The problem is we’re taught in the U.S. to rely on drugs for chronic issues, such as U.C., M.S., type 2 diabetes, obesity, autoimmune issues, anxiety, depression, heart disease, etc. Most, if not all chronic disease is related to poor metabolic health and insulin resistance. When people focus on lowering their carbohydrate intake (no sugar, no grains, no processed foods) and added in some fasting, people may literally reverse all disease and get off all medication. Now, even if things don’t completely reverse, they get so much better and the need for medication decreases. BUT, instead, doctors are only trained to diagnose and write prescriptions, without ever addressing the root cause of anything. Meanwhile, either the person diagnosed or insurance is expected to pay for these drugs, which the pharmaceutical industry charges crazy amounts for. Our whole “healthcare” system needs to be re-worked, so that the person who is being cared for is ACTUALLY cared for. Instead, it’s about keeping that person as sick as possible for as long as possible, so everyone makes money along the way. Meanwhile, everyone becomes fat and sick, and can’t work. One day, people might realize our country WILL go bankrupt if we don’t actually take care of people instead of being greedy MFers. Until that day, people need to do the research and take care of themselves. The root cause of chronic disease CAN be addressed by many through diet and fasting. Stop relying on pills and shots to make you better. They never will! In reality, medications are not medically necessary for chronic disease. At least, not in the long term. What is necessary are lifestyle changes. That is what will reverse chronic disease.
