45:50 the yokai Manly is talking about is Hachishakusama, also referred to as simply "Eight Feet Tall", a yokai who is believed to abduct children by mimicking older family members.
The same thing happens when Aubrey tags out with Omari, and when Aubrey is angry and looks to Omori, it says he doesn't notice her, so she attacks again, which is pretty cute in my opinion.
I'm calling the plot now. The main character, Omori, is a dream representation of the "Real" character, the one you can name and is in the house. Omori is a younger version of him. He probably suffers from depression, because he lost his friend, "Basil", and to cope with that, he mostly stays in bed and "dreams" about this otherworldly place.

The fact he's also wearing pajamas and seems to get tired quite easily (like with the ladder for example), it seems to hint the idea of him having health issues of sorts. This would make it ironic as he is basically the healer of the group.

Based on Omori's whole gimmick and the sound that plays when he's at critically low health, I feel like I have an unfortunate idea of where this story is going
I agree that something bad is coming out of Omori never turning into toast. I heard someone in the comments say maybe Kel, Aubrey, and Hero could all be dead. Plus there has definitely been some self-awareness vibes coming from Omori with the keyboard stuff, and more. So maybe this part of the game is all Omari’s illusion to cope with the loss of his friends and the frustration that he did not die along with them. Although I do agree with that much, when I played back the two times in the video where Omori got super low health but didn’t turn to toast (The jelly man and the Space ex-boyfriend) I didn’t hear any change in sound. I don’t know why, maybe I just hear it different, but the boss music was consistent with who was being fought to me.

My theory is that instead of Basil, Mari is actually the one who is dead right now. In neighbor’s room and other places there is this photo of “something familiar” words Basil said before he went a little haywire, so I think it’s a shrine for Mari. Especially with the shit that happened when Omori became Sunny. With the fear of stairs as well, I think it is safe to say that Mari probably died falling of the stairs and Omori most likely blames himself. One thing to note based off the differences between Omori and Sunny aside from color, is the fact that Omori looks slightly younger like he’s in a state of childhood blissfulness/ignorance. Willfully ignoring reality because of trauma, trauma which is obviously making him self-harm or have suicidal ideation. I also refuse to believe that his friends are dead... at least Kel, considering the fact that he’s been trying to contact Sunny as well as the fact that trailers have Aubrey’s alternate design where she’s rocking a more delinquent look. But yeah my head theory is that Omori, Mari, and Basil at all siblings... The soundtrack to this game is AMAZING, especially the Junkyard theme! Listening to it with the dreamy purple/pink hues gives me such "Everything is fine" vibes I forget all about the dead sister thing
It didn't really get the party any closer to finding Basil, but that was a pretty entertaining segment of the game. Space Ex-Boyfriend made for a cool boss fight, along with Pluto and that hacking attack; if nothing else, the game is creative with the enemies it makes you deal with. I feel like the combat has clicked in my head too now, I'm seeing the potential depth. The question becomes how challenging will the combat get. Not much in the way of horror this episode, but I don't mind them being spaced out so long as once they arrive, they're effective.
You know what i love about this game? The people that are mostlly for the rpg, ones that are mostlly for the story, and the combination of the two love it the same way, they nailed it

A very dreamy world, its almost as if it is a dream, i mean everyone is in their pajamas and sunny woke up from it lol. Mari is probably dead with hero judging from his height and charming personality, is more near her age than the others. Aubrey and kel were probably also along for that picnic where things must have taken a turn for the worse and all lost their lives. They were probably good friends with sunny. Mari is probably in the familiar picture since those are typically for one person. Wonder if sunnys dad is someone who works in the military. Basil probably lived and thats why his color scheme is different too. i like how colorful and quirky the world is, the art and animations are amazing with good music to boot
spoilers ahead it is a dream yes Mari is dead but not everyone lost their lives it was not at the picnic (I'm not even at that part yet lol) Mari got pushed down the stairs by sunny(literally just omori but out of dream world) and died because sunny was mad at Mari for harassing him with the recital and his piano after Mari dies basil and sunny go tie her up on a tree with a jumprope or smth idk and the hair covers her face except an eye which looks like its looking at him which becomes the demon that is around the dream world that's why basils color scheme is also different because he also has trauma. (sorry for the paragraph and replying to a 3 year old comment lol)

Those moments when the game beats Manly on the puns & references. Also, since you're fond of doing the choo-choo with your party members on other games, letting you do the moonwalk was perfect. Truly, you're meant to play this one. XD

The soundtrack to this game is AMAZING, especially the Junkyard theme! Listening to it with the dreamy purple/pink hues gives me such "Everything is fine" vibes I forget all about the dead sister thing
It didn't really get the party any closer to finding Basil, but that was a pretty entertaining segment of the game. Space Ex-Boyfriend made for a cool boss fight, along with Pluto and that hacking attack; if nothing else, the game is creative with the enemies it makes you deal with. I feel like the combat has clicked in my head too now, I'm seeing the potential depth. The question becomes how challenging will the combat get. Not much in the way of horror this episode, but I don't mind them being spaced out so long as once they arrive, they're effective.

This seems like the game that will rip every good moment away and go very dark, only time will tell.
A very dreamy world, its almost as if it is a dream, i mean everyone is in their pajamas and sunny woke up from it lol. Mari is probably dead with hero judging from his height and charming personality, is more near her age than the others. Aubrey and kel were probably also along for that picnic where things must have taken a turn for the worse and all lost their lives. They were probably good friends with sunny. Mari is probably in the familiar picture since those are typically for one person. Wonder if sunnys dad is someone who works in the military. Basil probably lived and thats why his color scheme is different too. i like how colorful and quirky the world is, the art and animations are amazing with good music to boot

it is a dream yes Mari is dead but not everyone lost their lives it was not at the picnic (I'm not even at that part yet lol) Mari got pushed down the stairs by sunny(literally just omori but out of dream world) and died because sunny was mad at Mari for harassing him with the recital and his piano after Mari dies basil and sunny go tie her up on a tree with a jumprope or smth idk and the hair covers her face except an eye which looks like its looking at him which becomes the demon that is around the dream world that's why basils color scheme is also different because he also has trauma. (sorry for the paragraph and replying to a 3 year old comment lol)
