- Created by InShot:inshotapp.page... This video will be a little different from my other beach videos. I'm moving into a new direction...but I believe a positive one. Whitefish Point is a destination of my childhood...a place of agate hunting, swimming, sightseeing, as well as meeting new friends. this video has all of those pursuits...save the swimming! As an added bonus... glimpses of the end of the Fall color tour. I hope you will enjoy this different kind of agate hunting video...it's also the first video where I discovered this place to leave a description. Keep an eye out for coming descriptions I will be adding to my previous videos. Thank you for coming along!
You have such a positive and grateful energy. Your videos are very uplifting. And thank you for your service.
Hi Lisa, thank you so very much for that complementing comment. So very glad you found us! I enjoyed serving in the Navy overseas...I think all young people should serve before college...it can be a great opportunity and they pay for college! Lisa...thank you for all you said! We appreciate it😁
Ever since i was a little kid i loved rocks. Now my vision isnt so great, so it amazes me how you can spot them. I love watching you hunt. ❤
Hi Brenda, I just turned 46...I've noticed the last 3 trips I made to the beach...including the day with Rob, I've noticed my eyes getting slightly blurry while scanning the rocks. It might be time for glasses 🤓 I had 20/15 vision in the Navy but now not so much...thank you for coming along and finding the agates with us! Glad to have you here!
I sure would hate to miss a few for you all to see!😀
I went there a few years ago with my wife, and just seeing the parking lot caused nostalgia. I can't imagine what it's like for you with childhood memories there. Thanks for taking us along.
Hey, thank you so much for saying so. I have many fond memories from there...I e been going there for over 40 years! Thank you so much for watching and leaving such a nice comment!😄
Very cool! The seasons changing came so fast... had whiteout snow yesterday but at least it didn't stick. Shorter days make a trip to the beach even more special.
Hey there, so I know I commented on your comment...but it's not showing...I'm still trying to figure this RUclips thing out...but yes, it was a special day and a special trip. Our big snow we got us now melting...going to try to get to the beach another time!👍
@@upperpeninsulabeautiful it looks like my comment posted twice for some reason. I did see your comment! Thanks!
I like the catch and release. Hopefully if you find a super nice one, you'll keep it though. 😉
Only time will tell!😄. Thank you for watching and your support!
New to your channel via Michigan Rocks. I love what you're doing. I know other people that have excessive amounts of LSA's and it really is a shame for other people and kids. Even worse, I live in Ontario and we have so, so few decent LSA's here. The rift sent the best down to you all! Enjoy.
Thank you for tooning in and for what you said...I have found about 3 gems in Ontario along portions of the highway from the Sault to Wawa. So not many...but they were nice! Ontario is beautiful... Been all over it....I've hunted fossils on James Bay...took the polar bear express up to moosinee.(sp). Thank you again for finding us!
I wish i can find too, some nice agates in France !! u are very lucky ! I saw ur video with Rob, so I came to ur channel ! thanks for the video
Thank you for coming...and from so far away across the big pond!😄
374th subscriber from Michigan Rock btw
Hey, thank you for finding us! Spending a day at the beach with Rob was such an awesome opportunity! I'm a big fan of his channel!
I've just subscribed after tRob from Michigan rocks recommendation.
I look forward to watching, Hi from New Zealand.
👍 awesome 👍 thank you checking us out...is there some good rockhounding there in NZ
Such a wonderful place to be at :) Enjoyed the childhood memories :) So many beautiful finds on this day😊
Thank you very much...we appreciate it!😃
It's such a blessing to give something that we value to someone else every now and then. Practicing contentment and generosity is so worthwhile. Well done!
Hi Kelly, I appreciate you tooning in to our channel and...for leaving such encouraging comments. I wasn't sure how this new direction I'm traveling in would be received. Thank you very much!
Amen!
I'm hoping to get up to the EUP next summer, but want to time it with peak wild cranberry season. Can you confirm if the last 2 weeks of Sept is peak cranberry season? By the way, you are a generous and caring person when it comes to enjoying our beaches. It takes a lot of determination to leave agates and other cool rocks on the beach for future generations to enjoy. Your message is inspiring and I hope it becomes contagious! Thanks!
Hi Jim...I usually pick cranberries in the spring after the snow melts...they seem to be even tastier after 6 months of winter covering them...but I believe they are ripe enough to pick during the end of September! Thank you for watching our video and for what you said...thought about the decision to leave agates and other beach finds on the beach for a couple weeks...thought about it long and hard...for me personally, I believe, it's the right thing to do...and I left the beach feeling more positive than I have in a long time. Thank you so much for sharing what you did!👍
@@upperpeninsulabeautiful Wow, that's interesting that cranberries taste even better in the spring. I would have thought they would be mushy. You definitely need to do a video on that interesting fact and plant identification in the spring. Are you talking late March? Also, if you know of other public rock collecting beaches that would have wild cranberries, let us know. This is a niche EUP area and you are the only one talking about it. I love all things UP.
@@jimknarr So the short answer is I don't know of any other cranberry bearing beaches....Wildcat has the historical cranberry farm...but that is a farm...I think you can pay to collect there. If your looking for other great and accessible beaches...look up Two-Hearted River...lots of rocks and many good agates...it's a trek though! Does have a nice campground albeit state forest...no amenities! If I get a new vehicle this fall I will try to do a video there. I will certainly do some filming of the cranberries at Vermilion this spring and even if I get back there this fall. Thank you so much for supporting our content and for your awesome suggestions!
Rob sent me
Thank you for checking us out! Rob is awesome 👍
Crafters would have a wonderful time with those unusual rocks to make "Shadow Box Pictures",, (especially the "Turtle shell" If I were there I'd be collecting rocks all the time to make pictures..
Hi there, thank you for watching and for the comment which I took as kind of a suggestion...maybe I will collect some more of the unusual/cool rocks for later art projects. Great Idea!
Very cool! The seasons changing came so fast... had whiteout snow yesterday but at least it didn't stick. Shorter days make a trip to the beach even more special.
Hi Joolz...it was a super short trip to the beach...but I could have hunted another hour but chose to head home. The agates we discovered and the people I met at the lighthouse made the trip so worthwhile...more agates or more time to hunt isn't always beneficial..
Thank you for noticing that!😄
That was a very cool Omar rock you picked up! Glad you got to get a day on the beach in.
Hi there Colleen...it was almost a perfect Omar! It was super nice to get to the beach...I would love to make it one more time...we got plenty of snow but the beach should be clear...the water is still somewhat warm and will keep the beach rocks cleared of snow...thank you for watching this last video...😀
Always grreat to see more videos on Lake Superior. Any chance you'd pick some up for subscribers? I haven't been to Lake Superior yet. I'd cover postage.
Hi Rob...thanks for checking us out! Where are your stomping grounds? I could possibly pick up some Superior rocks and send them out...would have to figure out the logistics of it...but it would be fun to hunt rocks just for that purpose...cool idea!
@@upperpeninsulabeautiful that would be awesome. I’d love to polish agates like the ones you were finding.
@@upperpeninsulabeautiful I’m in PA. I typically get to hunt in Traverse City a couple times a year.
We just found your channel the other day. We are enjoying the videos. My hubby was born in the Soo, raised in Rudyard so it’s like going home! We’ve been to Whitefish Point once but not to the others since we do not have 4 wheel drive. Maybe someday we will get up there. We live in Alpena, like Rob from Michigan Rocks. The rockhounding and fossil hunting here is great. We’ve watched Rob for years, and learned so much. We mostly rockhound at Rogers City just north of Alpena. Rogers City has the worlds largest calcite mine. Such a cool place. I love how you give the Lord credit and we know for sure that the joy of the Lord is our strength! God bless you and you’s! Keep up the great videos ✝️
Thank you Patty (and husband😀) for finding us! I can't thank Rob enough for all his help and for spending the day on the beach with me!. I'm still trying to find a suitable vehicle...until that happens Whitefish Point is my only option...at least there are two directions to walk! Thank you for your kind comment...this channel wouldn't be possible without God's provision... Ultimately, I figure it's His channel and not our families...so I need to be a good steward of it...that said I kind of fell short on yesterdays video...but anyway thank you for finding us and for all you said...would love to run into you up here next summer! Tell your hubby "hi" from us!
Actually we started watching before Rob was there with you 😊. We are always looking for rock hunters in Michigan. We happened upon your channel and started watching right away.
@@pattyspencerjarvie3426 Well that's nice to hear! We're you surprised when I pointed the camera on Rob...the guy with the Jeep that picked me up? I know my brother was...he just moved to Georgia and had no idea that I filmed a video with Rob...it was my brothers idea to start a channel. And he had said,"boy, you should make a video with Rob!". Anyway thank you again for finding us!
