Having tried both, frothing in an Aerrocinno (not in an actual proper frother) - Oatly froths and is more airy than Minor Figures. But I find the taste of Minor Figures way better in the coffee. Oatly makes my coffee taste odd - brought out some weird flavors and aromas. (pour over with third wave coffee).

Hey ! When you tried the minor figures on the Aerocinno, did it froth at all?

I so look forward to your videos, Hoon!! Never tried oat milk before, but I now want to give it a try! By the way, made my first Americano yesterday - had to add half & half because I don’t like black coffee - and it is now my new favorite!! Who knew Americanos were so freakin awesome?? Thanks for all you do to help us coffee addicts out!! ❤️

Oatly is great! I use it everyday. You can find it at Target. A lot of coffee shops here in the pacific northwest use Oatly.

I haven't tried oatmilk before because the carb count is too high for me, but I have used Nutpods oat creamer and I liked it. I did not try to froth it, though, just tipped it directly into my cup. Good Brothers is definitely my favorite for amazing coffee and exceptional customer service. It's becoming my standard to measure other beans by.

No comparison. The Oatly Barista is so much better there’s just no contest. Oatly Barista is creamy, delicious and perfect in a hot drink or drunk fresh from the fridge. It’s superb.

With Direct dosing from the niche grinder it’s difficult because you need a tall dosing funnel along with RDT sprayers which you spray onto the beans shake it around and then put it in. It should work if you use the spoon technique or your finger, but for me the reason why I think it’s not working for you is because Can be really humid and so Affects the static on your niche.

Both milks seem good and well steamed.

  • @Kabz8

Found out they basically use canola oil/vegetable oil/rapeseed oil which gives it that fatty taste and allows it to steam and foam more like milk.
Problem is I dont like consuming vegetable oil, so I really dont want to use oat milk anymore even though its tasty.
Drinking that much oil first thing in the morning everyday, my gut started to feel it.
Bummer bc I prefer plant based milks but now I find myself getting grass fed half and half bc its so delicious. And even though I have a lactose sensitivity, its not bad at all compared to oily oat milk!

Yeah. My normal Costco oat milk doesn't have much fat/protein. Makes foam really useless :(.

I’ve been able to get good foam with regular soy milk. I use silk. Works well and not all the heavy oils. Yes outlying barista version is specifically made with that fat which I don’t like either. Good once in a while. Not good for every day.

You kind of ruined Oatlys for me lol. It's okay I don't buy it much anyway. I'm currently trying out Califia.

    • @Ginger_Lily

I'm not very good at frothing any milks, so I'm not really sure if this one will work, but I really like using Milkadamia unsweetened vanilla macadamia nut milk. It's got 4.5 grams of naturally occurring fat in it instead of added vegetable oils. I'm unsure if there are other ingredients you are averse to, but thought I'd throw this option out there in case you haven't heard of it or haven't tried it yourself.

Compared to dairy semi skimmed, MF is a real grind to froth up properly, but i prefer it over Oatly ... That just didnt match my palette I guess.
Defo prefer oat to almond or hazelnut milk though

Hey man just a heads up, from my experience, there's two versions of oatly barista one from the cold box at the store, and the one you order from the website, although the ingredients are listed as the same, the store bought version (which is what you're using) is much more oaty in taste and overpowers the coffee and just doesn't taste that great. If you can try ordering a six pack online from the website, it's much much better.

I think Oatly has the greater fat and protein content, from what I can tell on their websites. Can you confirm? Would mean Oatly might have better foaming ability?

  • @cha1ny104

I agree that minor figures isn't as strong as oatly. The oat taste of other manufacturers is very overpowering. I would say minor figures doesn't steam as well and as someone who eats mostly vegetarian, I'd prefer it if they enriched with B minerals like oatly and other manufacturers do.

  • @Raditram
    @Raditram Год назад +1

Yes you're correct on Oatly having more fat because they do actually use some type of oil to increase that mouthfeel/body. I do find oatly to have wierd savoury flavor. While minor figure is so delicious but a bitch to froth on my nanofoamer.
