I was hospitalized earlier this year with severe panic attacks. My blood pressure was off the charts and they were scared I was going to go into cardiac arrest. I was admitted overnight for further evaluation and could barely speak. One nurse finally asked me if I was a veteran, I said yes…she asked what branch, I said Marine Corps, she said to me…I’m going to get someone to come and speak to you, is that okay…I said sure. This gentleman came to my bedside and asked me a series of questions of which then triggered an immediate response of uncontrolled emotions. I began to weep and could not stop, he sat with me for awhile until I was finally able to breathe and regain my composure. He then looked me in the eyes and said, have you ever been diagnosed with PTSD? I said No, the VA told me I’m fine. He said, well I worked for the VA for years, you have PTSD. He gave some numbers to call, all of which lead nowhere. It only created more anguish and torment…I was alone and no one would help me. I turned to alcohol, drugs, whatever would melt the pain. I finally surrendered my life to Jesus Christ and have been sober since…I did not seek help from the VA any further, God told me “I am the difference between everything and nothing “. That was the catalyst for change and I haven’t looked back since. My relationship with my family is now built on a rock, rather than sinking sand. I can only give all the glory to Jesus Christ, my King…he pulled me from the depths of hell and showed me true love. God Bless you all and those who served, I love you and appreciate you. I hear you, brother. I'm so over the stigma, we have to accept responsibility for ourselves and treat ourselves with the same grace we give others, and which the Lord gives us. These people in this video are stuck, and Ifeel sorry for them. I got tired of people making excuses for me. I don't want to be doing well "for someone with my experiences," I want to be doing better than I would've had I not had them. You can't do that alone. It's not your life to lead, it's His path for you to follow. Left to our own devices, we'd create a living hell for ourselves.
@ well stated my friend, I couldn’t agree more. So thankful that you posted that comment and read mine. Much appreciated. I know Jesus Christ has been with me all along but I was just too prideful and arrogant to see HIM. The pride and arrogance was holding me back and my own selfish desires were taking its toll on my physical and mental health. I’m now on a daily workout regiment, began running again and haven’t felt this good in decades. The aches and pains are gone and Christ has shown me his ways are greater than all things. I’m honored to have served something greater than myself, but I won’t let that service determine my future. My true path is with the Lord and though his road is narrow, I know where it leads…and I’m grateful and humbled to walk it in his favor. God bless you and yours brethren, Merry Christmas. Much Love and Respect.
When my dad was in Iraq the base next to him and bombs hidden in it and when he was sleeping he woke up to a loud bang and there were sirens when he got outside to his turret station there was fire the entire base in flames, and my mom told me one year after he got out of the military they were at a campground for the 4th of July and when fireworks started going off he yelled get down and pushed my mom down to the ground, and when there are loud bangs or gunshots he still has those reactions sometimes

We don't choose trauma, but we can choose how we respond to it. It can break you, or you can be broken open and use it to become a more intentional, compassionate, focused individual. @warriorsroundtable
Maybe so but it is only soldiers who risk their live and give up their personal freedom for this country just to have every whining bitch with a hangnail claiming ptsd!!! Unless you’ve served we don’t want to hear about it!!!
@@blaine1124 That statement is provably untrue. A nurse watching people die of COVID is certainly serving their country and risking their life. The same goes for a teacher who survives a school shooting. How about a first responder during a natural disaster? Wildland firefighter? In fact, their contributions to society are more positive, ensuring health and enriching life instead of destroying it. The larger point you fail to understand is that PTSD affects the brain in much the same way, whether you are a soldier, a rape survivor, an abused child, whatever. That's why it's a documented disorder and also not called "soldiers only PTSD". The idea of comparing trauma and assigning it greater value is absurd. Instead of invalidating people you don't know, maybe take a look at the beliefs about yourself that would lead to such an aggressive, unfeeling response.
@@charliemcpherson6299 people live in this country in relative safety. Yes I know bad things happen in life, to everyone!! But what you are not seeming to understand is that soldiers in combat zones are living in hell in constant state of fear. We get to experience death and destruction on a scale people who’ve never been in these conditions could imagine!! It pisses me of to hear about someone claiming ptsd because they heard a gunshot or had one incident happen to them!! People seem to want to use whatever bad thing that happened to them to play victim for the rest of their lives. I know rape and child molestation among other tings are traumatic but there is help and immediate recovery assets available to civilians here at home. And also another thing that most people don’t understand is that when your in the military, you can’t quit and walk away. You are there until your dead or your enlistment is up, and even then you can be stop loss and have your enlist extended involuntarily. Cops, doctors, nurses... can quit anytime if they don’t like the boss or working conditions. Soldiers can’t!
@@blaine1124 people who live in poor cities experience similar things to that too.. they live with what’s known as survivor brain. They experience almost everything that you just mentioned. So, it’s not about whining over a nail or whatever you said.

I had an event happen to me in 2021 which fucked me up mentally and caused me to not want to go shoot myself, but to start BASE jumping. It wasn't because of the desire to BASE jump, but because of the desire to challenge death and not caring the outcome. I just went to branch medical on base, and they referred me to the ER. The ER said branch medical will call me the next morning for a follow up and medication. Still no call. Nobody gives a shit. You just get passed around.

If you are a combat vet and really want to kick your PTSD symptoms in the ass, learn and practice Transcendental Meditation (TM). The practice is easy and effortless. In a 2021 study published in the Journal of Traumatic Stress, half of the vets "no longer met the criteria for having PTSD” after doing TM for 3 months, compared with just 10% of those receiving standard trauma-based therapy. As NIH senior research fellow, Dr. Pamela Peeke, notes, “The research on Transcendental Meditation is excellent.” Unlike the other therapies, TM is able to effortlessly and comfortably reduce the anxiety and depression seen in veterans suffering from PTSD. TM is easier to practice compared to most PTSD therapies offered by the VA and the military, and is more effective, making this technique preferable among PTSD vets and active duty troops. If you are a combat vet and really want to kick your PTSD symptoms in the ass, go to TM.org and find an instructor.

@@charliemcpherson6299 thank you for saying this.. my gma was a nurse for over 40 years and was diagnosed with PTSD.
@@blaine1124 people who live in poor cities experience similar things to that too.. they live with what’s known as survivor brain. They experience almost everything that you just mentioned. So, it’s not about whining over a nail or whatever you said.
If you are the person who has complex PTSD You may he offered therapies used to treat PTSD such as trauma-cognitve behavioral therapy (CBT) or eye movement desensitisation reprocessing (EDMR).
Thank you for posting this video. I will share on my Facebook to raise awareness.
As a veteran, please don't. This shit is toxic.

Hello,
Thank you for writing. Whether you are a Veteran or not, it is common to have reactions such as upsetting memories, increased jumpiness, or trouble sleeping after a serious accident, disaster, assault, or other trauma. Wow, a response from the VA.
I just went to the VA Hospital and they told me no more appointments for the sleep clinic (got sleep apnea) until June. Really ? that's half a year from now.
I am retired Royal Ulster Constabulary. I know the feelings you are experiencing. Not nice.
Do you relive battles?

Tazz Tazz i’m thinking about joining the marines but it worries me that i’ll end up with ptsd and want to commit suicide, anything you can recommend that can help me or should i just join a different branch
Austin Boreham I’m joining the royal marine commandos. PTSD is something that we hope we don’t get and it’s not a voluntary thing you know?
Kerem Aysan yeah i get it your right at least i’m serving my country so it’s worth it 100%
Meh don’t care still joining i just thought about it for about a week and i decided that if i get ptsd that’s fine i’m serving my country and that’s all that matters
Iv always had a passion for skydiving. I have my license and do it recreationally on the weekends with hundreds of jumps. I always said I would never BASE jump because there is no reserve parachute and there are soo many extra factors that can kill you.

What is going on. On the morning?
People with ptsd do y'all hear ringing noise
I thought it was Tinnitus, but that ringing does go loud.
jayjay86443 yes it is called tonight is you’re absolutely right a lot of people don’t know about it because it’s typically a symptom from definitions and people who have lost a significant amount of their hearing it’s similar to what we experience when we hear a very loud noise and have that ringing in her ears but for some it is constant and extremely loud, disorienting and hinders their ability to live a normal life I should know because my grandfather has tonight is due to his severe hearing loss that occurred literally overnight around three years ago he got it from an infection that basically inflamed the nerves blood vessels and everything surrounding his ear canal, eardrum and the ear in general LOL and was never the same literally it was scary he thought it would only last a couple days and he was just congested butThe hearing never came back and it was diagnosed later as hearing loss due to a basic common cold which is quite scary to think about and 85% of it is gone and he will never get it back
Yea
It's called tinnitus, and it is common among veterans, because, obviously, war is not a quiet affair.
Huh?
I lost my family to this shit
Broke, disabled, medical costs,. over priced rent... no one cares. No one can help.
