I have been a Safetyman for 25 years. I have seen this, but never with large animals, always with men. The young man and his Dad in the hole was deeply concerning to me. Heavy equipment operating on the edge of the hole can lead to a grave for all in the hole very quickly. I am not judging, I would have likely done nothing different in the adrenalin rushed time you spent helping. Over my years. I have seen this kind of teamwork and heroism. God was with you that day Jim, and certainly your neighbors and horses. Thank you for your cool mind and quick thinking. Sent with respect.
Im so glad the horses are ok! I have to say I teared up just imagining the fear in the horses and their owners. I can’t imagine, wow, one on top of the other. Truly a God send that you were able to help. God has His hand in protecting the two horses especially the one on the bottom. God bless you all.
The only reason the Amish would have allowed you to film this and upload it would be to help a fellow man. Vets don't come cheap and to replace a well trained team such as these isn't cheap either. Sharing their unfortunate experience so others don't have to is a priceless gift. Bless this young couple and their community.
Quick action on your part saved those horses. Good neighbors in times of trouble are heaven sent. I hope your Amish neighbors appreciate all you did for them.
Wow, that was amazing! I almost didn’t watch because I was in an accident once where a drunk driver hit the carriage from the rear. I had 3 passengers with me, the horse was not hurt, 1 of the passengers got a scrape but I was the unlucky one with a head injury, 3 fractured vertebrae and some other more minor injuries. So I hope this doesn’t give me flashbacks! So glad it all turned out well! You saved the day. I’m afraid without you that hole could have become their grave...Bless you for your level headedness and your knowledge of horses. ♥️👍🙏👏🐴
I'm glad the horses were able to walk away! Accidents happen with big animals all the time, even when you'd think nothing can go wrong or have done something a million times. Especially when working with animals, as well trained as they can be they're still animals and will react in unexpected ways. This could've been much, much worse and I'm glad it wasn't!
As I was watching this I was thinking the black horse got it the worse because the other horse look to of fallen on him as well.:( So glad you were there to help! ❤
Our God is a great and merciful God. It is a blessing that these magnificent beasts were spared and none the worse for wear. Such a blessing for all concerned.
That was a great recovery! Thankful you were a good neighbor! The "scoop" you talked about is called a "slip" similiar to a wheelbarrow without the front wheel. My dad used one in the 1930's helping build roads.
Thank you Jim for helping your neighbors with their horses! I hope our horses never have an emergency like this. We have no open wells, but we are on top of a ridge and there are very deep ravines all over the place. I don't think our tractor could even lift them - but the farmer next-door would help I'm sure. Great to have good neighbors!
On the farm, you never know what may happen, especially with livestock. We rescued a calf that found its way into a cistern, a yearling heifer that someway layed down & was fouled up against the barn. I could go on & on. You folks did an excellent recovery
Wow. Glad you had the presence of mind to move that loader quickly, and not mess around while lifting. Not the time to take it slow. Great job Jim. Wish you were my neighbor!
I have to agree, I think there was some divine intervention there, and a darn good neighbor. I am amazed how calm the horses were, a sign of good training and good genetics.
Thank you and the Amish family for sharing that. That was heart-stopping! Draft horses have such calm personalities. I don't think another breed would have been so chill. In a Budweiser 8-horse hitch performance, exiting the fan maneuver, one swing horse stepped over the traces, got tangled up, went down and pulled his mate down too. The rest of the horses stopped immediately and stood quietly as the leader and body pairs were unhitched. The downed horses quietly remained as they were, most of harness broken off or askew. One had no bridle. Two men crawled all over them, cutting them free. They got up onlu when prompted, and one was quietly lead out with a strap around his neck. The wheelers then took that heavy wagon out by themselves. That was the first time I saw the calm demeanor of draft horses. This pair was just the same. I expected them to struggle as they were lifted. My admiration goes to the farmer for his magnificent horses and to you for filming it.
What a miracle you were there to help. We are so grateful it turned out so well! I say it was a “God Thing!” He was there bringing you all together to save those pre horses🙏🏻🙏🏻💕💕
Hi Accidents happen your a great neighbor an great person for helping get the horses out of that hole. Then both horses were ok you did a great job all God bless you❤🙏
Very very scary. I bet those young men were beside themselves. The team must be sore and stiff. Your neighbors are lucky you were home. Wonderful to see everyone working together! ! 🐴🐴👍
I think the good Lord was watching over you all as well as the horses. He works in mysterious ways. I hope the Amish fellows are not in any trouble with their Elders by allowing you to use your motorised outfits to resolve the situation..So glad no one was injured.
amazing how those horses waited patiently like they knew great help was there and they would be saved. surprising that they weren't thrashing around and really injured each other
You did a great job saving those horses. It was harrowing to watch them way down in that hole, but you guys worked like experts and got them out without injury. Bravo!
👍👌🇨🇦❤, well done by all, very fortunate that the soil on the side was stable, cave ins would have been really bad, pretty dang calm horses for going through all of this, 👊
God is good !! Great job that not only did you save those two horses but they came out somewhat unscathed !! Good job guys !! You're GREAT neighbors !!
Hopefully everyone watching this noted how calm the horses remained. This is how the amish train there horses, if they get in trouble or are left too stand, they wait there till someone comes go get them. Great work jim!
You did an amazing job of rescuing these horses. It was also cool to see the horses cooperating in the rescue by not fighting the straps, ropes and machine! Life is more interesting than fiction!
Thanks Jim for being there when your neighbour needed you the most. Wow what a great rescue. it is miraculous to me that they didn't break a leg falling in the hole like that. I am thankful that your neighbour didn't loose any horses but you are right this could have happened to anyone. the main thing is the horses were fine and showing no signs of trauma as they go about being horses. The reason i love draft horses is no mater how much stress they experience they never panic they trust their masters or herd leaders absolutely to get them out of the situation they are in, horses are amazing creatures and they know when you are trying to help them i know this was taken two years ago but it is worth repeating because not all of us have amazing neighbours like you Jim and Brenda thank you both for helping out your neighbour i am sure he will be eternally grateful for what you did for him that day. I hope when i move out to the countryside that i will find great neighbours like you there. Great rescue!
Thank the LORD. Everyone, including the two horses, helped the recovery cause they did not go crazy in the moment. Everyone did a impressive life saving job.
Horrible, horrible, what can happen. The incident does not only show what a good neighbor you are, it also shows your great skills with the skidsteer. I must say, I did not 'enjoy' the video, because like you said, it could have ended a whole lot worse. I am grateful that the two of you showed it, though. there might be a lesson to be learned. One also has to marvel at the horses: In shock they could either have panicked, hurt each other and the people who climbed down to them or they could have had heart attacks and died. My father, who commanded a horse-drawn artillery company with 148 horses during WW II in the German Wehrmacht told me about horses which in a state of shock just gave up and died. But these two stayed calm and waited for the humans to help them out of the bad situation. Remarkable.
Oh wooow. God's love is so amazing. Although I don't own any horse, these gentle giants have a special place in my heart. I enjoy your videos Jim so much. They remind me of my childhood. You did a great job there, this is what I call a "love your neighbor as thyself". God bless you and your Amish neighbor. I admire their way of life
God was surely watching over that, his angels were with you all. That was an Epic rescue! I don't think the fire department could have done a better job. You are a good man Jim. I'm sure they were grateful for your help. Blessings to you all.
That is incredible! When you first started talking I thought you were going to say they lost the horses. What a miracle! How often does a horse fall into a 15 ft. hole? And then to survive it? Amazing.
Great job with the horse rescue. I was concerned at first about your skid steer falling in as well. Good thinking with lashing the skid steer to the truck. Glad those beautiful horses are ok.
Jim your neighbors are very fortunate to have you. That was a supper act of kindness you did first for the horses and your neighbors . Good for all . Julien Lamarche
I’m so glad you started off by explaining that you went by to check on those two this morning, because I think I would’ve have been in tears watching this. The black one looked so helpless. I’m shook up pretty bad just from watching the video. I can’t imagine how you handled it so calmly. Just unreal. Keep up the good work. I love your videos.
I am sure his calm and considering behaviorior was a great comfort to them. Plus it didn't hurt that Jim understands horses and harness workings so well.
Hi Jim and family, words cannot express my relief when I saw those two horses come out of that hole, it was amazing. Do they have the hole filled in yet? I feel so bad for this young couple. They seem to be trying so hard and so many challenges.
Wow!!! That could have ended up being really bad. You're such a great neighbor Jim, always willing to lend a hand! I think it's safe to say you saved those horses lives! God bless you and your lovely wife!
This is the most inspirational video I've seen in years. That's what neighbors are for. Thank you for sharing this. It's renewed my faith in humanity. God bless all of you.
So wonderful that you were able to assist that young family in their time of need. And so wonderful that the horses are OK. God's blessings to you all. Good neighbors says it all!

I remember a story my mom told me when she was growing up, something very similar happened to one of her horses, it was also a well hole. Her horse ended up being ok too
So glad you were able and had the equipment available to help. most people have NO idea how much a horse means to the Amish.....or any other person that owns a horse. Thanks for sharing. and thank the neighbors for allowing us to witness this unfortunate situation. Glad everything turned out fine.
Wow, what a feel good story! You know those young men felt awful for their horses! You did a good thing Jim! It’s amazing how tough and fragile a horse can be.
Your community is an example for all of us. There was a problem and people helped each other. You can see how beautiful it is by the horses! They came out of it unharmed. Community is a beautiful thing we all need each other
Great job everyone. A nasty accident but it did highlight the good side humanity. It was so heartening to see everyone working so hard and with some much concern for the horses. Your neighbours must be so thankful for your equipment and skill. It was a miracle that they weren't hurt but you could see that the horses were well handled and quite and that played into their favour.
You had an angel on your shoulder for this rescue. It is wonderful that the horses were unharmed, especially when one was standing on top of the other.
I didn't think cold hold my breath for that long. Amazing the horses were not hurt and you were able to help them get out of the hole. Great job and thanks for sharing your fantastic personal qualities. Al
Forget All State. I would rather have Jim as my good neighbor.
Me too!

Hi pretty lady. How are you doing today? And how is the weather over there??
That was a good job getting the horses out. So glad they were not hurt, but it seems a miracle.
Boy howdy, was it a relief to see that horse jump up. A really scary situation. Good job, Jim et al.
Thank God for modern machinery and the help of their neighbors to get those horses out of the well!
Wow what a blessing neither horse were injured and no person hurt in their recovery. Thank you for being such a good neighbor.
Everyone teamed up together & did a great job in helping those horses 👍🏼 Thank goodness there were no serious injuries!

You are my horse hero. Your amish neighbors are likely as grateful as I am. You are good neighbors.
Horse heroes you and your family definitely are, God Bless! I LOVE your videos. Ane Horses! I could watch them all day! Horses are Amazing creatures.
Those are some rugged animals right there!👍
Neighbor helping neighbors that's the way it should be. You are a great person!
God bless you Jim for helping save the horses.
Thank goodness you were able to help & they weren't to proud to ask for help
Such good thinking to hitch the truck to the skid-steer. Glad it all turned out ok, you are a good neighbor.
Hey Jim, using some of God's wisdom can go a long way - good thinking !!
Well done, a job well done. This is what friends and neighbours are for. I bet your hearts were pounding!
They sure were!

Thank God for His hand in the rescue!!!!❤
Amazing!!! Never have I seen anything like that in my entire life (over 70 years).

Did they allow you to fill in the hole with the skid steer while you were there.
Our other neighbor with a tractor showed up and filled the hole in partially

I'm glad you wore home at the time to go and help in a time of need , things may have turned out very differently if not for you Jim . You are a hero.
That was amazing!. Animals are so resilient. We called them a slip scoop. Well done Jim.

That is incredible! When you first started talking I thought you were going to say they lost the horses. What a miracle! How often does a horse fall into a 15 ft. hole? And then to survive it? Amazing.
And why is there a 15’ well?
God bless you all, that's Incredible!
Great job with the horse rescue. I was concerned at first about your skid steer falling in as well. Good thinking with lashing the skid steer to the truck. Glad those beautiful horses are ok.
We need more of this around the world. To many people don't because of whatever the person is

It was hard to watch. I’m glad I did.
I am sure his calm and considering behaviorior was a great comfort to them. Plus it didn't hurt that Jim understands horses and harness workings so well.
Me too! What wonderful neighbors to have!
A true American , helping a family / friend , thank you , proud of everyone ! Bob
You folks are such good neighbors . God bless you .
Glad they're ok. You are a good neighbor. That's the way more people should act. Bless you.

Thanks 👍
Great job!! It would be wise to make a sling set up for just this emergency. Ratchet straps make good webbings. We used old worn out ones that the ratchet broke. A harness maker sewed them together for us. Great job!!
Truly an amazing rescue.
This just goes to show that SOMETIMES horses have the will to survive. My gelding threw a temper tantrum in a brand new trailer and ended up with 30+ stitches in his forehead. Gods grace was certainly with you and that young family. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
"WOW" I totally agree with all comments !! Way to go Jim/Brenda & all who helped !! I'm amazed @ both horses are up & running around as normal !! This exactly is like the older way of neighbors helping neighbors!!
Great job helping out. This is real life things happen. Its ashame you have to be nervous about about posting this. The good Lord put everyone in the right place at the right time. Thank you Mr. Jim. Do they have the hole filled in yet? I feel so bad for this young couple. They seem to be trying so hard and so many challenges.
Our other neighbor filled the hole in partially with his tractor. Yes, they have had a lot of challenges. But they just keep going.
God bless you, Jim, for your help! Things couldn’t have turned out better!
So true!
Wow!!! That could have ended up being really bad. You're such a great neighbor Jim, always willing to lend a hand! I think it's safe to say you saved those horses lives! God bless you and your lovely wife!
