My pair prefer horizontal scratching, so the carpet gets the brunt of it! Most scratching posts are covered in sisal and my two *hate* it with a passion. They don't like those cardboard ones either. So it leaves very little I can use. Might have to knock something up and try the odur moi trick!

for one, you buy them a discent scratching device/tower. not the cheaper ones shown in the video. and some of your furniture will get scratched anyways, thats what cats do
My cat always scratches the back of a chair before going to the bowl. the chair is very close by. or when she comes in from outside. then she scratches the back of the sofa closest to the door
