- Minecraft 1.20 is the newest update to Minecraft and in the latest snapshot 23w14a, the sniffer was added in it's entirety (that we know of) and so that left me wondering, what is the sniffer story and so in this video Faberistry dives deep into the lore behind the sniffer as well as the reason the ways you can tame a sniffer! So I hope you enjoy this Minecraft 1.20 lore video!

I love the theory, knowing that the sniffer is the first ancient mob, I wouldn’t be surprised if we got an ancient predator in the next updates

I always say that the Sniffers inclusion has left the door open for more ancient dinosaur mobs in the future

@@Lilliaan. its hinted to have existed for a very long time. Ancient describes something very old that existed before, so in a way the Warden isnt ancient (but was around since ancient times) but the Sniffer definitely is.
I have a theory. Maybe the sniffers used to be ginormous(some fossils look just like sniffers) And they lived in the time when the other fossils were alive. They would fight the other big creatures that lived with them for food. they had a very tough body with moss growing on its back and very sturdy legs. It would lay eggs, just like today's turtles. The eggs being super sturdy would take a long time to hatch because of the tough shell of the eggs. The snifflets inside would crack the shell very slowly then escape from its egg prison being released in the world. The sniffers lived in groups protecting young snifflets and eggs. Their diet contained of ancient plants sufficient in the area and meat of the ancient beings. Sniffers bump one or two of their eggs in the water in hopes it might keep the species alive. The eggs had the ability to adapt to their climate.(going to the future gonna go back soon) some of the eggs wound themselves in drowned chests. (back to the past lol) Don't worry though! some of the eggs safely landed on the ocean floor and pebbles covered the eggs hardening into suspicious gravel. The eggs that did not get bumped survived with the sniffer group. Soon with the extinctions of those giant mobs. sniffers started to get smaller soon just a little taller then modern day cows. With no meat to replenish their diets they evolved to only eat the ancient plants. some plants died out but the seeds were still able to grow again in the future stuck inside dirt. Titanic Plates shifted messing up the formations of the ancient sniffer fossils. The fossils, along with the other giant's fossils went deep underground. The same technique as the ancient sniffers(go back to see it) were still continued. The eggs that were left by the ancient sniffers evolved to hatch and grow up in to the size of the sniffers of the era the others were in. Soon what seemed to be endless snow started to fall killing all remaining plants. Sniffers with fur and the moss were able to survive because they were warm. But they died due to hunger. Some eggs got smooshed because of oncoming snow. After millions of years sniffers died out but some lucky seeds survived along with some eggs. Waiting to be found by players. But that's just a theory A GAME THEORY! thanks for reading.

The most ominous thing about the Sniffer is the ancient seeds it digs up; the torchflower (red hot poker) and pitcher plant are modern garden plants.

I swear, you better compare trail ruins with the ocean ruins cause they may be very similar in structural terms

I have my own theory about the jurrasic world of the minecraft (Note: This theory is made by combining the fossils story and the sniffers story, then mixed with my own opinions).
Billions of years ago, at the Jurrasic period, the life is unrecognizble compared to the modern day. A lots of creatures and plants on Earth. As the Ice Age go for centuries, 97% of all lifes on Earth that day were gone extinct, forever. Only other 3% left survived, like the sniffers, wyverns, and other giant creatures. When the Ice Age cames, frostmaws have increased population due to more ice and snow to eat. After the Ice Age ends, all survived species re-populate on Earth. They're all live in happiness and glory. But, the second extinction pulse is coming. The Cretaceus Extinction, caused by rising sea levels due to sudden increase of climate temperature due to slight change on Earth's orbit that day. The sea covered the jungles, causing 99% of all life on Earth gone, forever. Only sniffers and the giant insects survived the sea rise. Next few millions of years, the extinction ends. Giant insects came to rule the Earth, while sniffer eggs still down deep there. The giant insects live with the new creatures we see in the modern day. But, something changes. Modern bees appeared on Earth and highly successful in population growth. The problem is, the giant insects may not able to adapt with the new flowers, especially giant moths & other giant pollinators would die of food scarcity. They can't adapt against modern arthropods, and they finally extinct. Modern arthropods itself grow with a large boom and rule the Earth, replacing prehistoric, giant arthropods.

Well apparently the sniffler is not live on the overworld they live on the nether because there is a bone called sniffler bone you well see the bone if your in creative mode and using the bone and complete it it well look like a sniffler and also sniffler is not small but is
