On the topic of language learning, I just got access to the new ChatGPT advanced voice mode, and I do think it could actually help people learn languages. I spoke to it in French, and it did a pretty good job. I even asked it to speak French in a Quebecois accent (my native accent), and I was impressed at how good it was. I can easily see how it could be used as a teacher or tutor in whatever language you are learning.

Perfection isn't achievable in this material universe hence why it'll eventually end. There's aspects of enthropy within all things, hence A.I. will never be perfect, no matter how sophisticated it becomes.

It doesn't need to be perfect, it only needs to exceed average human intelligence or at least match it (which is doable since human brain is finite), then it will redefine jobs and society itself. AI will bring either a dystopia or a utopia, there is no inbetween.

This is so interesting. I only use Chat GPT when I’m stuck on a code or something but I never knew it was bad for some languages such as Japanese. Even sometimes when coding I have to alter some parts or else it won’t come out the way I want it to😭😭😭

    • @MJapan0

Yes it is so bad in Japanese😂

I saw your last video but I haven't got around to comment on it.
If you ever choose to come to singapore, I'll show you around.
But I'm also pretty much a hikikomori, so I could only bring you to places like science centres or toy stores or food places or marina bay sands, nothing crazy 🤣

I'm learning Korean and I think it's that Korean uses spaces regularly and only 1 writing system. It's only when LLMs start using hanja(Korean for kanji) that it gets worse in my experience.
Also have you listened to Sora the Troll here on youtube? He is Japanese and he speaks great English imo. I think he has lived in Texas but now lives in Japan.

at this point there's still enough friction in software development that you need humans in most workflows to watch for lots of things. AI is capable of generating a demo app but it's going to be full of bugs and not optimized for real world use (thousands of concurrent users, edge cases, etc). what I've found useful now (kind of) is using AI as a search engine replacement, but still have to double check everything

I agree that humans still need to check stuff like translating Anime😃

They neglect people who speaks both English and Japanese yet they borrow English words for their Katakana language😛

Hi! I'm finding your videos very interesting since they're made from the POV of a local but in English!! I feel that most of the content related to current japanese society, economics, politics and social issues is lost due to the language barrier.
I'm also very aligned to your vision about changing Japan for the better. And planning to make my moves in the following months to do so. It will be more than amazing to chat with you one day as well as find more like-minded people.
Context: I'm a nikkei migrating to japan next year.

I'm sorry to hear it sucks. Even from the English, I'm scared to use ChatGPT for learning, and my Japanese sucks bad!
I've tried using it to generate simple "natural" conversations with limited vocab/grammar, but without a review by a native, it's probably trash.

    Great topic!
Indeed. It is a good idea to invest in AI translation into Japanase. Although the ideal scenario is for Japanese citizens to learn English right away!
