Actually, if the turkey/chicken were a metaphor for EA, Davis would have brought the meat out half-cooked and unseasoned, and would have served Anthony only a bite-sized piece. *Then* she would have demanded payment to take the meat back to be cooked all the way through, more payment to season it per spice, and even more payment for a decent serving. The plate, knife, and fork would be have to be purchased separately as DLC.
and then when its finally a complete dish with all the seasoning the meat itself is already cold. And in the kitchen the cook is already preparing a 2nd turkey without seasoning
No lie, Papa Burch is one of the funniest characters in any series I've seen. He doesn't even need lines in order to the best part of the episode. If I ever meet him, I'm giving him a big hug.
The turkey can be a meal full of flavor, kind of like how Call of Duty is full of exciting action. However, the turkey can sometimes be salty, so you need water to counter the saltiness and make the meal more enjoyable. However, when Anthony asked for a glass of water, he was denied and was forced to eat the turkey without water, like how Call of Duty shoves the action down your throat. Over time, the meal/game will get more repetitive and boring (Anthony was certainly crying because of the pain of the knife, but he also could have been crying to the turkey being shoved down his throat. It is never seen if Anthony ate a large amount of the turkey, but it is a possiblity). Struggling to find something new, Anthony asks for a piece of bread/the player asks for some DLC, but they are both refuse unless you pay them for a tiny slice of content
And then, a person may get tired of turkey overall, but then thanksgiving comes along and everyone looks at you funny because you prefer ham. The line between metaphor and reality may be starting to blur.
The achievement cake I think represents the short sweetness, but altogether empty feeling of the idea of the achievement, and hunting and eating it first gets rid of the purpose of eating the dinner in general, thus making the dinner/game unenjoyable.
From 0:59 on I lost it!!! I laughed so loud I almost woke the household here! I've laughed at so many of your videos that you guys made, but this tops it!!! "Pay Me"! "Because Fuck You, That's Why"! Ash calmly saying "It's a metaphor" while Papa smiles is the icing!
Why do I get the feeling that Davis and Ashly's roles were initially reversed (Ash doing the stabbing, Davis serving the sandbox meal) but they got switched last-minute? It was a great switch, though!
Alyssa Davidson I think Davis was perfect for the part because you don't expect that from her and she can always deliver an innocent smile. If it was Ash we would've seen it coming
Bread was the metaphor for a DLC. Water was a metaphor for a liniar game. "It's not time to drink water". You don't have the freedom to choose when you want to do what. I have no idea what we learn from all of this, though :P
I think the "complete" meal was a better metaphor for JRPG's. Sometimes you have choices for which part you can eat at any given time. Sometimes there are side-dishes which you can sample at your liesure, or for which you have a certain timeframe to eat (before it gets cold). But you still have to eat the outside of the chicken before you can start eating the inside.
so for the chicken part trying to figure out. it suppose to be a metaphor of a shooter game like cod, bf, crysis and so on right. when he taste it its "good" and enjoyed it but the moment his wife stab him in the hand and rage at him is that suppose to be the the ppl that rage at shooters saying it sucks? or is it in game when playing you have to deal with ppl raging at you either you suck, troll or play better then them and they start torturing you by shooting at you or blocking your shots?
They're talking about game genre's, sandbox games are defined by freedom of choice, movement, etc. There is no single path to reach the objective, and often not just a single way to achieve that objective. Linear shooters are just basically action movie sequences that let you play whack-a-mole shoot some terrorists as you follow their exact scripted path with zero variation.
Clearly Davis works for EA... No wait, if she was EA the meal would have come out undercooked and he'd have had to wait while she went back and recooked it. Then she would have brought out the bones, and made him pay for each individual leg, wing, breast, slice of bread, and glass of water. Seasonings would also be available on a pay-per-spice basis.
what is the rest of the meal a metaphor of? The sand is a metaphor for sand, The donuts are a metaphor for the best things in the game, the cake is a metaphore for, um, cake, and the little fish things are a metaphore for, uh... I got nothing.
It's amazing how Papa Burch is the best character even when he doesn't say anything.
To misquote Ronan Keating, Allison Krauss, and Union Station, "he says it best... When he says nothing at all"
The fact that Anthony still wanted to a piece of bread after getting stabbed in his hand is amazing.
To soak up the blood

Risa Grant - This is even more relevant right now.
Risa Grant sounds accurate
and then when its finally a complete dish with all the seasoning the meat itself is already cold. And in the kitchen the cook is already preparing a 2nd turkey without seasoning
and you'd still be stabbed in the end 🤣

Papa Burch's Smile....10/10 - The Banisher
I have been rewatching HAWP at least a few times a year for the past ten years and I have literally never noticed the bird in this video until now
That hand stab was done so well, I watched several times over and cringed every single time. Also Davis is awesome.
The sad part is it's true, pretty much sums up EA and Activision
He was just standing there, smiling, while looking at his son screaming in pain. I love this!
Another awesome Pappa Burch moment......
These are hilarious. Thank you game trailers
I changed my mind... THIS is Davis' best video
That stabbing the hand was the best metaphor.
I just love that bird... I want one..
That's one sexy bird.

Wow, this aged waaay better than it should have. My eternal sadness continues to grow...
As does mine...
@@JustSomebody5 And mine...
I love these. I always wait until a whole season is out so I watch them all back to back.
this is why everyone love sandbox games...
Its like a all you kan eat walking buffe nearly unlimited but it can get dull
Davis is a beast!! you're a lucky dude Anthony. :')
i dont know how it took me so long to discover this channel, 3 vids and a row each ones made me laugh. The dad gets me every time xD subbed hardcore
Perfect analogy of game looters these days. *cough* avengers the game *cough*
"These people crazy." - Bird

More than a decade later, this could not be more apt.
"......... it's a metaphor" Genius timing!
I know this Video is way back from 2012 but thank you for always putting a smile on my face whenever im having my Depression phase xDD
I understand they grew up and got real jobs... but damn do I miss these
Crisp and clean timing, great editing. Very funny.
I have never seen ashly davis so scream and cuss like that xDDDDD.
People give me shit when I don't buy DLCs. Then I pop in the 2 other games I bought, or 5-10 downloadable games.
i think this is Davis' best acting skill seen so far :3 she's awesome when shes mad
Still the best f***in' channel on RUclips. Love this so much. I will kindry.
The funny thing is, Borderlands 2 has become the best example of a game company doing all they can to squeeze money out of their consumers.
Pure win. Loved it.
Wow, thanks for that striking observation that everybody who watched the video already saw.
Beautiful.
Watchin' in 2016! And holy shit that stabbing actually scared me
Best one so far!!!
Why did I love that so much
From 0:59 on I lost it!!! I laughed so loud I almost woke the household here! I've laughed at so many of your videos that you guys made, but this tops it!!! "Pay Me"! "Because Fuck You, That's Why"! Ash calmly saying "It's a metaphor" while Papa smiles is the icing!
Oh my god this is awesome.

Alyssa Davidson I love Ash's apathy when she stabbs him 😂😂😂, oh God, why do I love this show?
Alyssa Davidson I think Davis was perfect for the part because you don't expect that from her and she can always deliver an innocent smile. If it was Ash we would've seen it coming
Persona 5 memes for days
That bird was so chill xD
Another great video!
Modern game design commentary, love it
I just love all of them XD
Ohhh.. that smile from their dad at the end..
nailed it and the screaming is the equivalent to us whining about it !
Wish they would make these videos longer just because there is more fun to be had.
Was the older guy supposed to represent old school gaming?
Oh, sorry, I'm new to these RUclipsrs
linkLoverAG
Great, do you like it so far? Because i love it!
he's a metaphor
linkLoverAG no, Papa Burch is Papa Burch
@@karmaloaf3923 Papa Burch is a metaphor for Papa Burch.
That's the most badass thing Davis has ever done 😂

I like how Davis closes her eyes when she yells, "fuck you!"
HungarianMafioso Who is davis? new here..
Ashley Davis is Anthony's wife in this series, though they are now separated.
they have a kid right?
Yea, they gave birth to Ash.
I love the dads evil grin lol.
I knew this one was going to be good when I saw the trigger warning.
dad's smile at the ends killed me XD I'm lmao
The dad's face just made me LOL so hard.
Battlefront went on sale. I got it. I played a few games. I now question all of my life's decisions. The end.
Here before the thumbnail, now I'll be the coolest kid ever!
Papa Burch makes everything awesome
amazing
I love your bird!
That's it... I have officially seen it all
>_> Follow the house rules ....... might lose a hand if not ..... (Other metaphor?)
More metaphors please! :D
Pops smile for the win
That smile on dad's face
This commentary like many awesome words.
how have I not seen this earlier
Seriously daves face gets me everytime :P
I wish there was a 'love' button that was equal to about ten likes. I would like this video ten times just for the Dad's creepy smile.

It's like the kirby chef!
That cockatiel must be picking up some interesting words.
The dad really seems to be enjoying this metaphor...
I'm trying to imagine this being someone's first HAWP video and trying to explain Papa Burch's existence.
There is some actually pretty legitimate discussion about game design.
Is it wrong that Davis totally turned me on this episode?
Not at all >;)
Yus! Just wondering if I heard him right when he called her 'Blavis' X D
i sure hope so
Seriously, Dad needs an episode to himself about his daily life.
Best Blavis performance.
borderlands 2 easter eggs brought me here, what a wonderfull suprise
Agreed. Sandbox games are getting bigger, but a lot of them are turning to quantity over quality.
When did you guys get a cockatiel, it's so cute! :)
0:56 magical teleporting Cockatiel.
@MayFire55 I myself only noticed this fact a few videos earlier. Now that I know to look for it, I've realized it is on so
One of my favorites! I have 50 favorites though, so not that special...
...jsut gonna say....i love their nickname for davis

Oh how I fucking love this show.
Davis is amazing.
I'm surprised that they haven't made a video about how the FPS in Wreck It Ralph is a better design than every other shooter on the market currently.
So true. Though the meal would have been significantly smaller, the end result would be the same
Because that's how you do it when you are holding a fork the right way. : )
Ashley do you really love dance central 💃🏻🕴🏼🐤

Kirby Chef was my favorite part.
I am sad now, I have watched everything on the channel so far....time to wait for new skits
This reminds me of when Gordon Ramsey went on vacation and had Jack Bauer fill in for him at his restaurants.
Clearly Davis works for EA... No wait, if she was EA the meal would have come out undercooked and he'd have had to wait while she went back and recooked it.
