I have enjoyed the global release very much, just as I enjoyed playing in KR. However, I am afraid that the same issue will hit after a little while on global servers. On KR, the game really lost popularity when people realized that the biggest alliance on most servers (not all, but most) could simply gatekeep the best items at endgame. This meant that either players had to a.) be in the biggest alliance, b.) spend a bunch of real world cash or c.) spend a ton of time grinding less efficient items to make income to buy the best items on the AH. This caused the game to lose a lot of its casual fanbase and a lot of players that were hardcore, but just not into hardcore PvP. It also caused a lot of builds to become less viable. Basically, if a build wasn't powerful in PvP (usually large-scale PvP), it was a lesser build because the builds need to maintain/break a gatekeep pretty much had to fit this mold. Thus, if you wanted to take Option A and have access to top tier items, you pretty much had to be running a meta PvP build and be into PvP. I am a pretty hardcore PvPer and even I had a lot of issues with this model. After falling out with the leadership in a top KR guild (because I dared criticize the guild leader's little brother for not following instructions during large-scale PvP), I was basically blacklisted and progressing became either impossible or consisted of running in circles, killing the same mobs over and over and over again. This isn't fun for most people and so I left. I came back to the global release because I really, really want to like this game. It's a beautiful game with modern graphics, yet a throwback feel to gameplay. As someone who remembers the days when MMORPG's were a brand new genre, I absolutely love this feel. I am hoping against hope to find a server where the top alliance behaves responsibly and gives most on the server a chance to have access to top-tier gear so that everyone can push the endgame. Can someone explain to me why i would want to do a PVP world boss instead of a peacefull world boss? Are there any benefits from doing the PVP boss? Or is it just fun to kill other players?
The leveling was so smooth and well paced, the world feels alive and the side quests are interesting, the navigation and exploration with the morphs are great. Been playing the end game for some 80h by now and I'm really pleased with the loop, the grind feels like a ARPG sometimes and I love it, the PvE content is fun and give enough challenge. I'm not that interested in the PvP, and I apreciate the fact it's totally optional.
i dont think you should be getting locked out of dungeon loot after, it should at least give you some less valuable by products or of sorts for reruns. what do you guys think?
It feels weird to play. I don't know if I can even properly articulate what exactly I mean by that. The core of the combat and movement feels really strange like the design has been pulled in a dozen different directions before arriving at whatever it is now.
New players don't know whom NCSoft is, but they will learn about it once they understand how much time they've waste on their games. Won't take long until they make this a literal slot machine, like they did with Blade and Soul [other MMOs too but I gave up before their greed reached me, sure I did waste some time thinking I could reach endgame until I realised that without spending time on alts and 8h per day or cash I wasn't gonna reach anywhere]
They specifically held off from being too greedy in this game, and that's the main reason it failed in Korea, people there feel the need to pay to be better
@@Gurgio It's not that, games with P2W make all their money from whales, if whales can get beaten by free players they won't stay. Either make the game full P2W or don't have it in at all.
This game is predatory trash to people with low impulse control. The problem with the MMO genre is that the people that still play MMOs accept this because the game is "free" to play.
I am the other way... I started with EA and I was in love, the visuals, the skills etc it felt amazing, but unfortunately it turned sour fast... Maybe i played too much, but at this point i think i got over the fluff and got bored. For me the combat is too automated and there is very low skill ceiling... everything is auto aim, auto turn, auto target, even targeted skills auto lock onto your target lol, it's just too much for me and it feels like the game is playing itself...
Any game that requires you to log in daily at specific hours sometimes to not miss out on content and lag behind is a slave machine and u are the slave. What you want is an MMO that respects your time but also rewards those who grind smarter and can do something in less time due to their player skill and not getting time gated and dictated by the game on what, how and when to do it.
The nighttime conflict pvp in the open world seems like a really cool idea. I wonder how long the day and night cycles are, could be oppressive, could be great, either way I don't intend to play it. I'm an old Lineage II retail veteran from Kain, and to this very day wish that NCSoft would just re-create L2 without the hellish exp grind, and implement it in a new engine like UE5 with modern WASD movement and keybindings. They'd have an instant hit on their hands. They could do it, they have multiple teams with cookie-cutter engines just waiting to build a game on. It's just sad that monetization ruins the experience of all these games they make. They should use Arenanet's Guild Wars 2 as the blueprint for their mmos, and they could save themselves a lot of investment in their failed games. Or they could hire someone like me as a consultant with executive authorities to point their devs in the correct direction for massive success. One day, I'll form my own studio and do it myself if they don't; or someone else will. Maybe Mike Morhaime's new game company Dreamhaven will do that?
man, I sat at the starting area for 20 mins playing with the melee weapons and I just couldn't figure out why it was so weird. those damn settings lol. Thanks for pointing it out. I ended up using dual cross bow and wand/book lol
I am sorry for the people who have any expectations from a game made by NCSOFT, this company would rather kill their own game for a quick cashgrab (Aion's tragic fall as top mmorpg +BnS...) than sustain a desent game and a healthy player base. Koreans dont play Throne and Liberty.....thats all you need to know about it. This game is a cashgrab and its clear as day, everything about it feels like its AI generated, the world and feel of the game is not better than any mobile trash you will find out there and thats BECAUSE it was meant to be a mobile game in the first place. Of course there are a ton of people trying it out now at launch, the mmo community is starving for anything new nowadays that however wont last and changes nothing.
ArenaNet is owned by NCSOFT and they make Guild Wars 2 so you can imagine most of the player base is looking at Throne and Liberty and thinking- wtf...your MMO is right here but you haven't reinvested in us so were lacking in terms of marketing and features. It's a slap in the face to us so yeah I guess they'll get what they deserve at our expense.

I've put in about 15 hours so far, and I have to say, the leveling process feels like a real slog. I genuinely want to push through, but I often find myself unable to play for more than two hours at a time. While I absolutely love the world design and the stunning graphics, the early gameplay, as you mentioned, feels quite clunky and really detracts from the overall experience. On top of that, the mobile-like features, particularly the menu navigation and the gear system, just don’t appeal to me. Currently, I'm at level 30 and trying to push toward the endgame, hoping that things improve down the line. However, I’m starting to feel discouraged and losing confidence that it will get any better.
Great video mister man! From my experience playing the game, i agree with you 100%. Coming from LOA I love the way this game look and feels. From the UI elements to the graphical style and the art, it seems really polished. I'm expecting the combat to get better but so far it is fun enough to experiment with the different weapons and going to new zones
I kind of secretly hope this game pops of a more in the west than it did in Korea and that will incentivize the devs to follow a bit more in FF14s footsteps instead of the typical PW2 type mmos that we are used to from the eastern markets.
It's strange that so many say this game feels stale or too old, but then reference WoW with holy reverence... another tab-target, old, stare-feeling game...
As a big Lineage fan, and I mean old-school Lineage 2(C4-6) this game reminds me of the epic PvP action I had back in those days. You are right that it’s not for everyone and the P2W is there but the P2W aspect is managed by just playing the game. You can make the currency by just playing the game so it doesn’t bother me at all. I love the fact that there is no OP build, just like in L2 every class has its henchman. Big like for the game and has a lot of potential to be a staple in MMO genre.
Had a lot of fun in the character creator! ... Then I started playing, got bored pretty fast and haven't had any urge to log back in. PvP focus is always a negative for me as well.
By far best review I’ve seen of this game so far. Not totally negative about the game just because of bad things and painting the complete picture, while remaining completely objective
I'll be honest bro, I like stoopz, but I'm not gonna take his opinion on game reviews anymore, man's missed the mark everytime 😂 Not only that anytime I play a game and there are 4+ currency at the top of a menu, that's kap.
I thought he was pretty fair about tbh, much better than all the CC's that are shilling for it. This is a korean mmo end of the day, the standard business model is make things fun for F2P until they reach the endgame then you either open your wallet or no life for the whole day, every day for the rest of your life just to not get gatekept from raids.
I mean, its a free game. Why are people so surprised it is p2w? Been playing f2p and have been able to make atleast 20-30 usd worth of lucent without swiping. Dungeons actually have mechanics and isnt too bad. The open world pvp and pvp events are fun. If you actually put in a little effort instead of crying the game is enjoyable
Really like the technical and artistic aspect of the game. Really impressiv but why is the combat (most important aspect of an MMO/ARPG) so bad compared to Lostark or BDO... Sad that they sticked to this old school tap target world of warcraft like combat system. Feels completly outdated to me.
ill prob hold out for new world, but will definitely keep my eyes on this. ive tried ESO so many times and i cant pinpoint why it just doesnt catch for me, its awkward or something. i wish for warcraft on console, or even guild wars 2 would be cool.
Regarding guilds, it is beneficial to be in the top guild on each server, unfortunately, rest do not really matter. Epherium, SYN, Focus, Elysian, Reborn etc.
Major QOL change I'd love to see is 3 skill pages PER GEAR SET instead of only 3 TOTAL. There are SO many builds I'd love to make and be able to have on hand as opposed to having to recreate them every time I want to play them. Also the game is pay to lose, you buy gear so that you essentially no longer have to do the content that drops said gear. You are paying money to remove parts of the game that you could be playing through and enjoying.
bro that config of auto target when you cast a skill. its default in wow i almost stop playing cause of this clunckiness. then i discover that config and was like..... why is this turned off.....
This game is the definition of mid. The best you can say about it is that it's on unreal engine 4 and "not as bad as it used to be." Nobody should spend time or money on this buggy cash grab unless you're a streamer doing it for content. It's nothing but whale bait.
I’m personally really digging T&L, definitely a fresh breath of air compared to LOA. Much more traditonal’y MMO, and so far a very chill experience. In fact, I was so efficient in my CD’s today because I couldn’t wait to log off and play T&L, even got a 20k fate ember, as if the game asked me to stay lmao.
I am sorry they cant here your issues with all the credit/debit cards chinging in the background. . . NCSoft never fixes anything you will get what you get and they will milk the players they have now and then in the future they will start to milk even harder and harder just like they did their other MMOs.. NCSoft is like MMO Vampires. . . Not to mention the their greediest p2w mobile phone publisher in the known world. . .
Maybe feeling getting better as with better gear things die faster so you get rewards faster with less actual combat/movement? or just the boiled frog effect? I dont care about p2win as there is no such thing, it is a game if you pay money on getting stronger, so you can "enjoy it" you already lost.
What threw me off after a few hours and left me uninstalling is the terrible ui for questing and tons of systems bring introduced at lvl 5-12, from different crafting and upgrades etc , i dont wanna be bombarded with quests, if i want a quest ill take it, dont throw do many world objectives and appendixes in my face ontop of the story so early
I would really love to play this game, but as i get older my time is fairly limited.. Grinding seems to be a big part of the game. Thats why i returned to WoW, which is heading towards a more "play at your own pace" style
Great to make them avoid all other MMO's in the future you mean lol. Once players start getting gatekept from raids it'll dawn on them all those many hours grinding were worthless when you're up against someone who opens their wallet.
I was looking forward to this but the more I heard about it, the less I wanted to play it. On that note, did you ever return to BDO? You were really into it (without being sponsored) at one point.
It’s like BDO and lost ark combined. Has lots of potential but is highly predatory which they will wind back on as players leave and then also Bot problem already happening
I'm actually disappointed they went with separate servers. It's 2024 I don't care for the "old school" feeling, nobody talks since half the people are on console anyway. Should have just made a mega server with sharding/phasing, inevitably we will end up with dead servers, there's no reason for it in 2024.
This game is fun temporarily. I Don't think this game should be taken seriously especially how peditory the developers can get in these type of games. I play for the moment and i am enjoying so far.
There is something like this on the market with better polish. That is Guild Wars 2. They stole many things from it. I like both, but i ll be always there if this will be dead. Thanks for the great review! Nice job!

I'm the same kinda dude and also enjoying it...this is an impressive MMO to me compared to most other modern MMO's... FFXIV is a snooze-fest, GW2 5v5 arena battles are toxic, ESO is uninteresting, and WoW is so played out it makes you feel dirty to go back to it. This, though... it's just fun so far, and there may come a time when it requests that I pay cash to do better, but for now, I'm grateful to be playing for free, especially with this level of polish and design. what i love most is the general RPG enjoyment of progressing your gear, stats, and feeling that difference in combat is great.
excited to be able to enjoy m+ like content without having to pay for a sub and have the MMO gear progression along with it.
They had to do that with skills too, starting a game that feels MMO with 14 skills is just too much to our brain.
I am so happy you mentioned this because I thought it was just my steam deck over wifi. And I keep telling people this is a mobile game without the automation marketed towards PC players. They pulled a genshin impact, to PC players that game was new in revolutionary to people who played games on the phone before we recognized it for what it was. I am having a blast playing this but this is nothing new if you have played any phone mmo.
Now that is a title that wont be a problem in the future .
Thanks for the video Stoopzz .
It can exclude you from the epics pool but allow you to get blue gear and mats would be fair?
genuinely a good review. others feel like a copy paste based on a reddit post lol
This happened with Aion as well. Even worse with Gameforge
@@TheExperiment1337 I've only ever played private servers with Aion but I can tell how awfully monetised it's meant to be
They own GW2 and it hasn't changed philosophy.
They specifically held off from being too greedy in this game, and that's the main reason it failed in Korea, people there feel the need to pay to be better

It was designed to play itself, they reverse engineered it to be a game from an autobattler mobile game.
Any pay to win is a hard stop for me. Period. I absolutely despise it.
Why? It’s pve so it doesn’t make any difference, right?
@@ThirdSonSeth it's not just PVE? It's also PVP where the pay to win hits the most.
@@youtoobz146 it’s mostly pve, though.

@@youtoobz146 unless you’re playing pvp, it doesn’t affect you.
One of the better early reviews for Throne.
Although I don't play wow anymore, it still has the crown for the best MMO.
Yep, however they also have over 100s of mobile phone games that lead the world in P2W as well.. This is something else people should know.
ArenaNet is owned by NCSOFT and they make Guild Wars 2 so you can imagine most of the player base is looking at Throne and Liberty and thinking- wtf...your MMO is right here but you haven't reinvested in us so were lacking in terms of marketing and features. It's a slap in the face to us so yeah I guess they'll get what they deserve at our expense.
it just feels like.. Lost Ark with a different skin.
Rng upgrading systems..
So many different things to upgrade
This will turn into Lost Ark.
Can't join groups or raids unless you have XYZ

Nah, this feels more like Lineage 2, where Lost Ark feels more like Dungeon Fighter Online.
I thought this game was like if Lost Ark and Guild Wars 2 had a baby lol
Exactly. To me it's like everyone forgot Lost Ark is a game
Im gonna check this one out. What class ahould i play coming from a restoration shaman.

Will eventually try the game after the Hype Phase and see if its any good in a couple of weeks :D
As long as the game doesn't create toxic gameplay, that in turn creates a toxic community... like lost ark, im all for it!
People were gatekeeping the first dungeon day one in this game, expecting group members to know the mechanics and be over geared. So not a good sign.
This is a korean mmo, Its going to be exactly like Lost Ark lol. That's the standard business model over there
Apparently Korean players jumped over to the new early access servers so there's max level guilds already just going around killing players
@@agentmaine8126 Damn that makes a lot of sense after playing and getting wiped with no clue.
I'm expecting the combat to get better but so far it is fun enough to experiment with the different weapons and going to new zones
that radiant wolf morph :( you can't get it anymore which BLOWS...it's the best looking morph in the game currently.
bro everytime maplestory osts start playing i get so freaking nostalgic.

Imagine getting an amazing drop from a dungeon and ur guild leader decides who gets it. Such bs.
This game has the feel of those cheap crappy Chinese mobile MMO games. This is like when mobile MMO meets a console
If they allow you to level up without fighting monsters but doing crafting or fishing like in runescape that would be insane.
Heyo glad to see you reviewing. Hope you’re doing well too. Love that this one came with suggestions to help with issues. ❤
I want to try it but I notice there’s no warlock type class I would love to have a curse class
The wand weapon uses curses

Had a lot of fun in the character creator! ... Then I started playing, got bored pretty fast and haven't had any urge to log back in. PvP focus is always a negative for me as well.
By far best review I’ve seen of this game so far. Not totally negative about the game just because of bad things and painting the complete picture, while remaining completely objective
The enemy lock on is horrible, the Map is horrible, Quest tracking is bad and they need to fix the menu issue with the conteoller.

Really like the technical and artistic aspect of the game. Really impressiv but why is the combat (most important aspect of an MMO/ARPG) so bad compared to Lostark or BDO... Sad that they sticked to this old school tap target world of warcraft like combat system. Feels completly outdated to me.

Finally an in-depth review! Great Vid Stoopzz 👌

This game is the definition of mid. The best you can say about it is that it's on unreal engine 4 and "not as bad as it used to be." Nobody should spend time or money on this buggy cash grab unless you're a streamer doing it for content. It's nothing but whale bait.
Guild system distribution it's abussive and make you lose your time

I’m personally really digging T&L, definitely a fresh breath of air compared to LOA. Much more traditonal’y MMO, and so far a very chill experience.

no way to disable auto attack on the ps5 feelsbad it’s really frustrating I guess that option did exist but it is not on the ps5 atm
People hating on the game or the P2W aspects aside. Great video, and very informative.
That “off” feeling is why I uninstalled maybe they will fix it at some point
This game is great for people who haven't played any other MMOs.
Great to make them avoid all other MMO's in the future you mean lol. Once players start getting gatekept from raids it'll dawn on them all those many hours grinding were worthless when you're up against someone who opens their wallet.
It's been a long time since we've gotten a decent kMMO. Fully expect this to die out in a few months once everyone hits level cap.

Nice job!
Very fun game. As a mmo veteran. Playing since the 90's. This game is definitely worth a try and some of your time. Im enjoying myself and will be playing possibly for a very long time.
Kinda sad that other Amazon-published MMO's have lest a bad taste in peoples' mouths and they just don't want to enjoy it because spite, I guess.
I call these types of MMO's sunken cost fallacy traps. You go through the honey moon phase where everything seems great but when the real grind kicks in and you realise its essentially just a progression hamster wheel you've invested too much of your time or money to want to quit.
