Never been a Lakers fan, was never the biggest Kobe fan when he was playing either. It was only after he retired that I really started to love him because I realized he wasn’t a jerk, he was just one of the most competitive, driven people to ever exist. And when I heard that he had died, I cried. I had never known this man, he never knew me. I never even rooted for him, and yet, I cried. You could tell just by watching him, that he gave his all in everything. Business, basketball, family, it was all the same. I guess I cried because I realized we lost one of the all-timers. Not just basketball players, but men. He was a man who would not hesitate to sacrifice what was needed in order to achieve greatness. He didn’t just tell us, he SHOWED us that we didn’t have to live in fear. Guys, live your life with everything you got, so that you can look back and be satisfied. Like Kobe did. Rest in Paradise Kobe and Gigi, we will always remember what you did, but more importantly, we will always remember who you are.
Despite being the player he was, the thing that really struck me was seeing that in his final interview he said that two non negotiables in his life were picking up his daughter from school every day, where he would compete with other moms to be first in line for pickup, and he would always shower his two youngest at night as well. Everything else he would fit in his day around those two things. He said about that “how are u going to inspire the world when u can’t inspire your own family”, which I found to be even greater than any basketball feat he achieved, which is no small task. He truly had the mamba mentality to be the best at not only basketball, but every facet of life. RIP kobe, he had so much more left to do and was gone way too soon 🙏🏽
I miss him so bad.. anytime I had any adversity in my life Kobe was there mastering his craft reminding me that one needs to grind. I cried like a baby when I learnt the news. R.I.P Black Mamba
"Love the hate." - my favorite quote from the absolute madlad that is Kobe Bean Bryant. I have been repeating this on all videos like this all over the net, and I'll keep doing it. #mamba #mambacita
The precision of his movements, the effort, the laser focus. Because he wasn't always joking and laughing, "joy" isn't always a word used to describe how Kobe played the game. I wasn't a big fan as I got older but lookin back I can see just how much he enjoyed the game by how hard he played and how much he gave to it. I truly hope to take 1/100th of that fire into the rest of my life as I'm trying to become a better person and I'd be lying if I said his passing wasn't part of it. RIP to a true legend and icon.
I’ve listened to that m83 song for years, and always thought it was kind of somber. But in this context, showing the lyrics with silence at the end, it REALLY got me.
Anyone from this generation will say that Kobe was the reason they wanted to work on their footwork... at least I know I did. I put hours and hours in the gym just working on jabs, pivots, and triple threat attacks. Part of me just shattered when I heard the news, but the mamba mentality he gave us will never leave. RIP Kobe, Gigi and everyone on board.
Absolutely amazing work here. This is the best Kobe tribute video I’ve seen, you continue to make the basketball world proud, Ben. Thank you for all you do, and thank you for truly honoring one of my childhood heroes. This one had me on the verge of tears. MAMBA FOREVER 🖤🐍🖤🐍🖤🐍
Resisted watching this for months. Similarly to you Ben I've spent more time watching/thinking about Kobe's game than any other player. Wonderful tribute and I swear I'm not crying.
As a player, kobe was what we think of Klay thompson now. The threat to drop 60 in three quarters. He was more than that. He would dunk on your best player. He would make the behind the back pass for the easy layup. He would take the last shot with 2 guys in his face all for the sake of winning. But kobe was so much more than a basketball player. He had a beautiful mind that inspired and amazed. We liked him for who he was between the lines, but loved him for who he was off the hardwood
The analytics won't look too fondly towards Kobe Bryant, as a whole, but his impact and legacy are undeniable to the sport of basketball, and that's what makes the Black Mamba so great.
Except the analytics do look extremely fondly towards him. Dude had the best ORAPM in the entire league from 2002-2011 and was tied for # 3 overall. It's weird how people keep saying this when it's simply not true.
This is the best tribute I've seen so far and I just wanna say I think you're one of the best to really appreciate kobe's game and this video shows this. Thank you.
His 1st point was a Free Throw his 81st point was a Free Throw his last point before walking off the Achilles injury was a Free Throw, the last point of his career was Free Throw. This was basketball gave him back for all the dunks the winning shots the injuries the contested shots the hard work the waking up at 3AM he deserves a Free Throw -Mamba out thank you man for inspiring us.
Kobe was great. I was always a big fan. Yet, other souls died with him. They were all worthy of being recognized, even if they do not have readily available highlight reels. Nine good people lost. That's life folks...I am so grateful for what I have, and who I have it with. May you all find gratitude as well, as it is the only salvation we can find in the face of these ''everyday'' tragedies; As everyday good people die...
@@caucandyellow I get what he was saying, when its your time to go its your time to go. He is just saying he is appreciative that we got to witness Kobe's journey in life. But his daughter never got the opportunity to live her life like her father did, she never even reached adult hood.
Wish you have included the air balls to Utah. I think it’s part of his foundation that made him. Great video and thank you, you have tons of great moments captured.
Hero’s get remembered , but legends never die. Follow your heart kid and you’ll never go wrong. Prayers to all that were lost that day Our hearts break to all the lives that left this earth too early.
Before i played basketball, my friends would have me believing Kobe was like this fringe top 10 player at best, and not one of the greatest ever. I'm happy that now I've been watching and playing ball for the last 6 years and in my mind Kobe is closer to top 5.. and on top of that, to me, it makes sense to pick Kobe in a 1v1 matchup in the finals over just about anyone. Kobe can hold his own on an indiviual level, in terms of clutch and closing, with anyone ever.
I'm a long time laker n Kobe fan and I've followed him his whole career and, I have to say.....i couldnt have done it better myself.....the lob to shaq against the trailblazers is top 5 and the dagger against the suns is 1 of my favorites ; it gave me hope that year when things were looking a lil bleak.
6:47 that's one of the many reasons i always loved to have Kobe in my favorite team. Anytime those guys had some troubles as a fan i knew that Kobe was to be like "don't worry man, i got you". And i think that was the most important thing of Kobe, he was never that guy to score because of selfish things, he was a guy to score when it was most needed, and to be feared, and so respected, when it was needed. Kobe was like that big bro that's always there when you need him, and now he's not there anymore.
He was so legendary that he almost felt fictional. Whether you were a fan of him or not he had this way of making it into every conversation about anything. The last person I would have expected for this to happen to
Beautiful tribute. The most devastating part of this for me as it relates exclusively to Kobe has been how bright of a post-nba future I thought he had. The NBA and frankly the WNBA lost a hell of a future ambassador.
I was a 2008 Celtics fan as a kid. Hated Kobe. Didn’t realize how much respect I had until he died. The man was neigh unstoppable, probably the best player I ever watched live, although James has given him a run for his money.
You have some of the most insightful basketball videos on YT. :) I'd love to get your take on the following. Would you please do a video analysis of the value of a good/bad coach? Or, is there even such a thing as good/bad coaches? What makes a coach good or bad? How can a 'good' coach make a team with 'bad' players any better? How would a 'bad' coach make a team with good players worse? Does it even matter if you have a good/bad coach? Or are the players the only thing that matters? Who are good and bad coaches and why?
Man I needed Kobe to grow old like Jordan. I wasn't ready for this.
Never been a Lakers fan, was never the biggest Kobe fan when he was playing either. It was only after he retired that I really started to love him because I realized he wasn’t a jerk, he was just one of the most competitive, driven people to ever exist. Same.
Amazingly said.
Beautifully worded, Erik.
I watch this channel to learn about basketball. Not to cry.
I’ll absolutely make an exception right now. Great video, Ben.
Didn’t expect to be crying at work but here I am
Best Kobe tribute video I've seen so far
i’d like to say. this man is my idol he made me fall in love with the game.. may he rest in peace with his daughter gigi. legends never die 🐍💔
ThePak Rat Beautiful sentiment, but it’s “rest in peace”
Thankfully the “piece” is not plural. It would be even worse. Lol
Not so ugly duckling wel damn lol didn’t even notice i did that
Ben we are missing you and your videos !
Despite being the player he was, the thing that really struck me was seeing that in his final interview he said that two non negotiables in his life were picking up his daughter from school every day, where he would compete with other moms to be first in line for pickup, and he would always shower his two youngest at night as well. Kobe, along with Jason Kidd, helped me fall in love with the game of basketball.
I’ve listened to that m83 song for years, and always thought it was kind of somber. But in this context, showing the lyrics with silence at the end, it REALLY got me.
Feeling basketball 💛💜

you know you're great when thinking basketball can just show a video about you with no words and it still showcases all your skill and athleticism.
This is one of those rare videos that is truly perfect

The most heartbreaking video out here. I thought I was done crying...here wie go again...
come back to this often, one of the great videos there is. hard to do a man like this justice, but you’ve managed a fitting tribute. ❤
Resisted watching this for months. Similarly to you Ben I've spent more time watching/thinking about Kobe's game than any other player. Wonderful tribute and I swear I'm not crying.
For the first time since his death, I cried happy tears. Thank you
Had mad goose bumps watching.
Thank you Ben.
Thank you Kobe.
This is my favorite tribute video yet! Thanks Thinking Basketball. Just a wonderful compilation. #BlackMamba
Kobe and Bruce Lee: Two legendary icons that inspired millions. Gone too soon but never forgotten.
Nicholas Yu may i add bob marley?

Best RUclips video I’ve ever seen. Perfect selection of the song Outro and just amazing compilation of clips and quotes
Special tribute💜💛🙏
Almost half a year past this happens and I just about to cry, R.I.P mamba
Honestly I still did not believe he passed away
Damn is just so sad. Life was just getting started for him .
The analytics won't look too fondly towards Kobe Bryant, as a whole, but his impact and legacy are undeniable to the sport of basketball, and that's what makes the Black Mamba so great.

Kobe just one of a hundred millions.
No body can be as good as he is... He just flawless.
i already kind of recovered from this sad truth. watching this made me cry again. go mamba! 💪 fave player ever!
This is beautiful. Thank you.
This is one awesome tribute video.
A very beautiful tribute!
Thank you Koby for countless hours of being smittened with amazement and excitement to watch you play.

Gracias por este homenaje. RIP Kobe and Gigi. Can’t stop crying...
God damn that m83 song really added to the tears
I was waiting for someone to use this masterpiece of a song for Kobe. Thank you!
Sir, this is the best tribute video I’ve seen so far. Thank you so much for these great memories!
Not even sad he’s gone
Just happy he was here
Crying for Gigi tho she was the future
nah fuck that Bryant had 40 yrs ahead of him and a lot of shit he planned to do
what kinda dumbass comment is that
@@caucandyellow I get what he was saying, when its your time to go its your time to go. He is just saying he is appreciative that we got to witness Kobe's journey in life. But his daughter never got the opportunity to live her life like her father did, she never even reached adult hood.
This is beautiful. Legends live on in our memories.
@7:35 hits hard, his sacrifice, hard work and dedication, while he is holding GiGi is so fucking sad RIP Kobe and GiGI 🙏
Imagine disliking this masterpiece
Thank you for this video. It puts a smile to my face seeing Kobe's highs. This was truly a beautiful summary of Kobe's career.
Hes my idol and im a soccer player. His will and preoaration correlates to all walks of life. GOAT
Wish you have included the air balls to Utah. I think it’s part of his foundation that made him. Great video and thank you, you have tons of great moments captured.
Before you succeed you must learn how to fail... 💔
I actually wanted to but couldn't find a good quality recording of them.
Thinking Basketball
You did amazing

Prayers to all that were lost that day

Dell Harris (head coach) made Kobe Bryant's first 2 seasons a "living hell."
That's according to Kobe.
DeAndre Page, Dell Harris is the only person in the world that could keep Kobe from scoring 😂
Code 517 the greatest defender of all time
stealthiscool on god 😂
Thank you KOBE.. there will never be another KOBE BRYANT.. RIP
Best tribute I've seen yet.
Thank you for waiting to post this video as tribute done right instead of an instant video for views. As a fan of the NBA and Kobe thank you.

Rest In Peace Mamba, the player who made me fall in love with the sport
Very nice tribute, thank you.
there’s a reason you’re my favorite youtube channel damn
Kobe was special in so many ways! RIP Kobe, GiGi & others involved in that tragic accident!
You know you are the GOAT when Larry Legend selects you for your desire and toughness!
For every clutch shot now and forever, KOBE!
Thanks. Still in tears. Thanks.
No words Ben. Amazing video. Thank you. 😢
A wonderful Kobe tribute, thank you.
Beautiful 🙏🏾 💜💛
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for this beautiful video.
Well done sir!!!...just well done!.

Because he was a person we all aspire to be like.

Very thoughtful of you to make this, Ben. Thank you
Nice man, I loved it
This vid gave me chills, breaks my heart and inspires me all at once.
This is one of the best tributes i've seen with a awesome soundtrack from m83. Thanks!
Kobe...
RIP Kobe, off you go to the 2cd best franchise of all time in the sky. Signed, a Celtics fan.
this was such a beautiful video
Great song to use in this video❤️
M83 has great songs, I just wish they didn't clutter those great tracks with so much filler on their LPs.
Rest in Peace, Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant. 💜 💛 🐍 #2, #8, #24.
This made me cry
His gift was his ability to communciate his force of will to millions RIP.
thanks now i’m crying again
Thank you for that. Really nice
Amazing
