From my experience. I broke up with my ex but we agreed to still be friends. However, she started to change in order for me to ask her out again. Started to listen my music, going to the gym with me, etc. And then i started to think, "maybe this can work out?" But when i asked her, she said she had move on. She meet a guy on tinder. I eas mad but as time went by, i noticed that if i had taked her back, she would've gone back to her lazy habits. All she did was lay on bed watching netflix and makeup tutorials. Its also a good thing we didn't go back because i eventually found someone who actually appreciates me.

I should probably mention it was an online relationship, and I was really selfish towards her, and I regret all of it and want nothing more than to fix it all. Ultimately ended up with her best friend (and my once good friend too) white knighting her. I'm currently doing projects and they're involved in them, so it's a bit awkward at the moment. He and I are directing a game and my ex is a major influence in the game, so as of right now the game's on an unofficial hiatus.
But they're doing their cute little art project to stab me more and more, and I'm not gonna let them get the reaction they want out of me and I'm not going to let their point be proven: that I'm an insecure, anxious, desperate loser.

I've learned so much in this past relationship. I have put her through hell with my trust issues, jealousy, controlling TYPE A personality. And I'm surprised she stayed this long. But honestly, I've learned so much. Learned fo trust, not to be jealous, learned to love myself, and to not control everything, because she isn't a dog. She is a person with her own responsibilities. It was a good learning experience. And it sucks it had to go through her, because she was very sweet. However, luckily we didn't do much, it lasted 8 months. We were friends before it. We were best friends through it, so I have high Hope's that we can manage to be friends after. It's just a good improvement in myself for the next woman. Because everyone deserves the best me I can possibly be. Nothing less
