Very enlightening video! Personally I have been nervous about NPs having an edge in the job market due to legislation that favors them. This video has made me hopeful for our profession as well as encouraged to be an advocate for physician associates.
This is so great to hear, Jonathan! Hope is so powerful and Dave is an inspiration reminding us of the impact we can have on the future of the profession. Thanks for watching.
I'd like to go to PA school, but i am truly scared that the PA career will no longer be in demand. Or the tuition will continue to increase but their salary will remain stagnant or decrease.
There are many variables that affect supply and demand, but the healthcare sector is not one that's going away any time soon. Weighing the pros and cons of cost of education vs. benefit of career and pay is a very personal decision. For me, looking back, it was definitely worth it! I do see some stagnation of salaries and we are working hard to get negotiation skills into the hands of PAs so they can earn more money. I do not see it going down in the future, but I'm not an economist. Ultimately my best advice is to do your research and trust your gut. It's your life! No one else has to deal with the consequences of your actions but you!
