The only way to create a portrait (Bokeh) is to either create physical distance between the subject and background or to use a lens with a low aperture. The aperture on phones is fixed so the only way is to create distance or to use portrait mode.
I experienced it a bit, after all it's a really cheap lens compared to even entry level lenses for a camera. I'm still using it for shooting RUclips videos and it doesn't bother me.

You can leave it. It makes the phone a bit bulkier.
