I never played the original P3 games. First persona was 5, then played p4g, then p5r. So hearing this theme in the final boss use a version of aria of the sould (velvet room song) feels like the best final boss theme you could make.
As some one who got into this series with Persona 3 FES, that is an experience I'm genuinely jealous of.
Playing P3FES alone, the final theme felt so epic to me with memories of the whole game flooding through my mind. I could only imagine how it must've felt hearing it after playing 4 and 5 first. Three whole games worth of hearing Aria of the Soul only to hear it mixed in to the final boss of the third game you played.
I completely agree. This song feels like not only the final boss of P3, but the final boss of the entire Persona franchise. It's so climactic and awesome

The dark green moonlight persisting the entire time was terrifying and a really nice touch, it really sold the fact that it was the absolute end unless SEES won

I just finished P3R yesterday and the final Arcana fight was so cinematic for me. I unintentionally synced Junpei’s Chidori Theurgy with the beat drop at 3:13, and I finished the fight by reflecting his sweep attack with 4 reflections courtesy of Ken’s Theurgy. Best game of all time.

I thought it was on purpose, because NYX battle is unavoidable, and the velvet room part of the song is here because despite everything, your soul is calm (or cause the entire velvet room is cheering you on)
Meguro reused some stuff from SMT 3 on P3, in the boss theme "Darkness" the guitar riffs are very similar to "Normal battle Dephts of Amala" from SMT 3

I might not be the biggest fan of some of the battle themes, Mass Destruction ~ Reload being the biggest offender for me, but they absolutely did The Battle For Everyone's Souls justice. This is so incredibly good.

I want to like this more than I do. The removal of a flew flourishing details after the beat drops at the start, the strings not really getting higher pitched and more intense past a certain point (and when they do they're subdued in volume), and the vocals and other little details throughout the song being a bit far back in the mix for my liking... It does so much right, but it doesn't quite nail the landing if you ask me. I feel like if it was mixed a little differently it'd be damn near perfect
That’s my main complaint with the soundtrack of this game, the mixing is awful at times and completely ruins the piece

How did they manage to fuck up the final boss theme? It sounds good, but it just feels like its missing so much oomph that the made the original feel so impactful... The vocals have no reverb. The part just before the vocals drop sounds so soft. The piano has no reverb.

ye this was my first persona game and I love all the reload ost, but comparing it to the OG p3 tracks makes you realize how much raw energy was lost and replaced with overall polish, which isnt completely a bad thing but still a loss

@@Gestrid If we're talking about the music, yes. This is actually my second favourite music of all time, number one is Rivers in the Desert. When it comes to the fight itself, I find Maruki a bit better though.
@@zugiii1086 I will admit that the Nyx fight felt a bit easier in Reload. Maybe it's because I was more prepared/ a higher level? Or maybe because he only gets one turn (normally) in this version? Or maybe he's actually easier? I'm honestly not sure.
Really wish they toned down the green in the final battle, ruined the atmosphere of the fight. Didn’t feel like a final boss at all, especially w reloads js being fairly easy. Always felt like “oh there’s gonna be a crazy transformation after you beat this” and while there technically is, in terms of gameplay this is the final boss you have and it’s just ruined
But... green is literally the one of game's main colors. It's that (to represent the Dark Hour) and blue (to represent the protagonist).

@@GestridYeah, green is one of the game's main colors, but you can have tones and shades of that color. A darker green (i.e. gray-green, dark green) would have been sufficient if you wanted to still have the green motif. The original P3 was almost entirely gray and black, which felt fitting for the final boss (and end of the world). P3R's oversaturation of its original's green-blue color scheme and overt contrast - not just in the final boss but throughout the game - is off-putting from an ambience perspective.
@@StarMiners0416 that might just be due to the ray tracing and wanting to keep things accurate to the original arena. You'd have to add a reason for the next light source aside from artistic direction demanding it.
