  • I knew I needed something with a bit of sparkle for the final look of the Star Wars style video, so I pulled out an old box of nylon tulle and got to work! Here is how I made the galaxy tulle skirt overlay.

    I’ve been trying to figure out how to sew sequins onto a costume without the thread being visible to hold it down. Using a bead at the center is an ingenious idea and will make it look even more visually interesting! I love learning small tricks and tips from your videos.

      Thank you! It was how my grandma taught me to sew on individual sequins once when I was young, I remember she was embellishing a top one time before a family get together and taught me :)

    Tulle overskirts often have no fastening at the back opening, I made a 50's bridal dress like that with a four layer overskirt, love the dress and would love to see you make more fancy gowns!

    I actually do most of my sewing for 18 inch American Girl type dolls…a few years ago they did a spaced themed Girl of The Year doll. She had a space station as her big accessory, which cost $350. Needless to say I didn’t buy it. I have spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out how to craft one. Your set has given me inspiration! It looks like a rusting space ship! I really enjoy your creative process.

    Very pretty and dramatic. Two days, well spent! You've just reminded me that I want to learn how to tambour bead, which I shouldn't do because I don't have room or time for more sewing related interests and what the hell am I doing with it afterwards? I mean I hate socialising and I live in sweatpants and pyjamas so can't imagine I'll need a fancy frock anytime soon. But I will absolutely watch content that involves embellishing/beading fabric.

      You can sell them, you make apliques to decor other stuff or garments, and since it would be on small areas it would easier and less intimidating to start with....just a though 🤔

    • @flyingpanda3997
      @flyingpanda3997 4 года назад

      @@belindacoba5158 you are right of course. I make a lot of bags and a small evening clutch would be the perfect canvas for this kind of beading. I'd have to teach myself though as I haven't found anyone teaching this skill in my part of the world.

    The makeup colors are lovely. Excellent skirt. 12:12 used this idea concept thing while making my xmas presents for my parents. First time knitter, attempted a scarf. Got a foot of workable material done before my brain quit. Turned into a purse. Had some extra creations from my first couple attempts that i turned into a hairclip bow. Made my dad a notebook but was limited on craft items. So used my wall paint sample jar and glitter glue and scrapbook stickers to made a rustic/eclectic style decoration.
    13:46 same. Like i just mentioned, beginner knitter trying a scarf that needs to be done in eighteen days.

    Beautiful! Beautiful! Both galaxy skirts are beautiful! And that is a lot of work. I like the 20-minute length. Everything about this video is wonderful. This is just a thought: you probably could color sequins and stars with alcohol inks. Alcohol ink can be used on plastic. Maybe sequins and stars with a small amount of alcohol ink in a lidded jar. Shake it all about. Viola! I think.

    Thank you for sharing your thought process and technical side of making this skirt (and all your other creations). One of my resolutions for this year to incorporate more sewing projects along with my other crafts. So far I've made a wrap top that isn't a 100% where I want it to be but is wearable (I tried to pattern draft it), a no-fail skirt (you know, the shirred kind off the bolt that just needs a seam) and another one, but I added loops to attach clear straps for a summer dress so it's a two-in one, and a sweatshirt dress! I think I'm off to a good start. Pattern drafting is harder than it looks--to me anyway. So I really appreciate that you talk about your techniques and what you did to achieve the look of the garment and how to get things to be a certain way. Maybe one day it'll click for me.

    Wow! This was amazing! I have a couple of overskirts, but they are mostly lace. I never thought to use tulle. Also, I never guessed that that was how you did that. I really liked the planets on it, and from a distance, they read like they are part of the fabric of the underskirt. Leaning into the flaws and limitations is a very interesting idea. That's like what we were told when I was working on my art degree -- if you make a mistake, repeat it two more times and it becomes a design feature. Love your stuff! Keep it up! YAY!

    I truly loved your new long galaxy skirt. The larger circles photographed extremely well and by far it is my favourite! I too love the intricacy of couture work which would be needed for an heirloom outfit you intend to pass down through generations - like a baby christening gown. But not everything needs to be that extravagant or impractical. You are too hard on yourself. Please accept my sincere compliments on your ability to create a design and execute it. You GET THINGS DONE this is amazing!!
    Video Idea: When you do your next purchase from Cartwright sequin store would it be possible for you to walk thru how you purchase (and do the unboxing) a next how you would use these sequins? I looked at all the bright shiny things and was excited but despite all my years of sewing and needlework - never did anything with sequins. Quickly got overwhelmed.
