Hunger in Haiti: Half the country's population facing food insecurity

- The number of Haitians facing acute hunger has now reached half of the population.
The country is dealing with political instability, and the ongoing fallout from a surge in gang violence earlier this year.
More than 5 million people are struggling to feed themselves and their families.
Despite the hunger crisis and gang violence in Haiti, authorities in neighbouring Dominican Republic are planning to deport up to 10,000 undocumented Haitian migrants, every week.
New detention centers have been built to process deportees in several eastern provinces.
The Dominican Republic has already deported more than 70,000 Haitians this year.
Etienne Cote-Paluck is the editor-in-chief of Haiti Weekly in Port-au-Prince.
He says the deportations from the Dominican Republic are only going to make matters worse.

US, Canada, and France have sure had their fair share of the cause, BUT the truth is that Haiti has received billions in foreign aids and the Haitian government along with a group of elites have stole all that money leaving the Haitian people in complete poverty. It's not only history , there's geopolitics at play, western Europe, aka the US Canada, and will not let Haiti be a sovereign nation. They have too much to lose, and Haiti is a majority black country that would rather have Russia and China as their allies. Botswana is nowhere near Westerners' geopolitics. The Haitians' mindset geared towards countries like Venezuela with Maduro, they also believe that are a target because they're black. They want their money back from France, and the West will not discuss restitution. You have no idea what you are talking about? You are talking about a group of people who were ship to the Americas, where whites distrust black and indigenous and vice versa. Haiti has nasty elites that practice a south African form of apartheid. You can't compare the two countries on top of all their natural disasters.

The only country that can rebuild Haiti is Nigeria. If every Nigerian Millionaire and Billionaires plan to invest in the infrastructures of Haiti along with wealthy Haitians in the diasporas, Haiti will revive and become the most beautiful country in that region.
