1st Half Presidents Cup 1st round, Whitletts Victoria v Tass Blue 2009 27th January 2024

A cup tie today. Both teams were up for a good game from the start. Settling down & making good tackles, passes & attacking moves. Throw in a few free kicks & it sets you up for a typical cup game. Both keepers making saves when needed, defences holding strong as midfields were setting up the strikers. Whitletts opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Tass were unable to clear the ball from the back allowing Zack Anderson to collect the ball inside the box & strike it home into the net to make it 1-0. Tass didn't relax & were soon on the attack trying to get an equaliser which they did in the 29th minute when a Challie Frearson free kick was headed by Finley Shanks & the keepers parried save reached Stephen Jamieson & he stroked the ball into the net to make the score 1-1. Again both teams were still making passes, tackles but at halftime the score was Whitletts 1-1 Tass.
