I swear, this is one of the best mixes i've ever heard in my entire life. Yes it's very low quality, but the guitars and the bass can be heard at a VERY EQUAL level without the one being too loud from the other and even though the drums can't be heard that much, their percussional fundamentals are still audible which is just fine and the vocals are also fine. Hands down, one of the best black metal mixes ever, it's definitely up there with Burzum's Filosofem

When I was 16 I was massively into Nu-Metal and I remember the first time I heard Darkthrone all I could think was 'What the fuck is this shit? It's just noise and shouting'. Now, being a little older and wiser, I can honestly say that this is some of the greatest music I've ever heard. The sound quality may be a bit raw, but it does nothing to detract from the passion and intensity behind the music. Absolutely fucking stunning. Anyone who hasn't heard this is seriously missing out.

Stone-cold, trance-inducing, iconic ear-worming riff. It's great to listen to this, especially while you're preoccupied with doing something else for instance when I'm playing a racing game and in pursuit of chasing my rival, it usually gets the job done.
While Punk Rock was a rebellion against society through music, Black Metal is a rebellion against the musical norms themselves. Clean sung vocals, crisp studio quality sounds, and the same tired old lyrics about love found/lost were all things that Black Metal was rebelling against. To many music lovers (myself included) this was a breath of fresh air for the music industry, even if it's underground. If you can't appreciate this style of music, that's fine. When I was 15 years old, I talked about metal in front of my school class during our music lessons. I explained different sub genres of metal and played examples for each of them. This was my example for black metal. For some reason one of the boys in my class started crying.

I was 9 when I started listening to this stuff, tried to run my first gig when I was 12, since there were no BM bands in my town, so I booked a bunch from around the country having no idea I'd even have to pay them or anything lol. Played a cover of this song myself as my only track that night at the fresh age of 12. Lost so much money but earned so much experience from that gig haha.

This is my first time giving the band a listen too, I've known the early side of metal but not quite like this, Norwegian metal is beautiful, in it's own way and form.
This song is perfect in every form. It creates, in my thought, the almost epitome of black metal's musical defenition. Yeah, black metal is an actually quite versatile genre, but every time the term "black metal" comes to mind...this is the first song to come to mind along with it. Amazing stuff. Hail Darkthrone. This song and the clip make me feel very uncomfortable, especially when I think about being lost somewhere in Scandinavian taiga or Siberia. Those places have a lot of local legends and unexplained encounters. This situation scares me and gives me some kind of pleasure, I believe. And then it scares me even more, cuz I like this, normal person wouldn't. Black metal changes people.
