I love those trails! “Not take a normal mountain biker” hahaha. I love it when people hear you mountain bike and they go “I mountain bike.” And you’re like… “no you don’t”
Biggest problem is that it is not a Class 1 e-bike (It has a throttle). I know around here all of the trail heads have signs saying Class 1 e-bikes only. I ride a Niner RIP E9 myself, it’s a blast. I also have a Specialized Turbo Vado for my city commuter, which is also a Class 1.
BTW, the top speed is probably the best thing on that bike. The components are meh. Low end RockShox Yari, way too big of a battery makes the bike ia little hard to handle with it being so heavy. The SX drivetrain is actually kinda flimsy and terrible. I would replace with GX. The basic guides are ok at best. Guides RSC feel 10x better with a good bleed. The tires are good but it doesn't show that the wheels are tubeless, which is a big negative in terms of traction. The carbon frame is a plus. Not sure what kind of engineers they have but the top companies spend millions on bike geometry. Since that's one of your complaints. You did address some of these things but it might be worth testing other brands because it might just blow your mind why other brands cost more. Sure there are cheaper RC motors but I have a Puller Pro in my rig.
You should really try a Specialized Turbo Levo. Better DH geo, powerful motor, huge battery and the best dealer network other than a Trek. Those plus tires at typically sluggish too. The Levo handles great with the Mullet wheel setup.
Yea, once again I'm looking to build an ebike (DIY). I've got plan's more or less fully together now. I was leaning towards going with a Bafang BBSHD (one can tune that with an egg rider or from PC with a USB adapter), but CYC's Photon sure has caught my attention. The Photon can be programmed, but unlike the Bafang BBSHD, the Photon has torque sensing so it's power output is proportional to user pedal input (still has a throttle, though I may opt to leave that out) and makes it more inline to what I'd really want the bike to be about (fitness). Tell you what, if I do it I may post build video's to document the build.
I bought the X1 with 2000w Luda with silent drive... nylon gear broke ride 1... 200 yards into it... Haven't really trusted it since. they sent out a new motor.. replacement was pretty easy... but wish it had a smaller more durable pinion...
You've got so much to learn about ebikes. The funny thing is I don't think you really care about riding bikes much. Just another toy to beg for money on RUclips.

Like my mechanic friend Digger likes to say: “You need more lead in your pencil!”

@@HolmesHobbies Okay, my arm is twisted now. Be a good bit though - got to gather up all the parts! :-)
I have a Surly Skid Loader ebike it flat hauls some Fat AROUND!
Go mullet (29" front/27.5back) and a better fork and you are set 😉

Sorry to hear that
I wish I had good dreams like that. Mine always wake me up kicking for my brakes before a wreck in my semi 😆
yikes
I have the same dreams!
Red beans and rice will get that weight down low 🤣👍🏻
for sure
Remember to always wear a helmet kids. I don't even know how to ride a bike anymore rofl. Did you video your adventure?
sadly, I did not record it, maybe next time? Would people want to see that?
@@HolmesHobbiesI would love to see some Holmes hobbies MTB rides

Ouch! You're assuming a lot.
