Maidana is my uncle. Me and my sister's started crying and all wanted to run in the ring to hug him when I saw him in pain on the floor because ive never seen him show pain. He would Let me and my sisters paint his nails when we were little girls even though he was a tough world boxing champion 😂 my dad and Fabian would make fun of him and he didnt care lol. I can't believe the stupid referee took a point from Maidana without a warning.
The referee was getting paid in this fight to make sure Khan won. He was breaking the fight up whenever Maidana had Khan pinned on the ropes and both guys hands were free so there was no reason to be breaking them up

Khan was terrific. What incredible hand speed, precise five-punch combinations - Maidana just couldn't catch up. People talk about Khan's chin being weak but look at that 10th round, what amazing resilience. Hats off to both, true champions 🥊🥊

@B Raz This is not about Floyd Maywheather it's about Amir Khan. He did well to stay on his feet against Maidana but that was A) more exception than the rule and B) He was out on his feet for the remainder of the fight. On numerous times he's shown below average punch resistance for somene at that level for his weight categories. Not a controversial claim, nor an unreasonable one. Might as well drop it mate and be a bit friendlier to people in future.

Got to respect Maidana. He came a long way in boxing and he did real good for himself. What I like about Maidana was that he was willing to learn. When he got with Robert Garcia he became a much better fighter because he was willing to learn. would of been interesting to see Khan fight the new and improved Maidana.

Good fight by Khan but I didn't like the way Cortez refused to let Maidana fight on the inside.

Costantino Milvio That was terrible wasn't it? That was one of the most one sided referee jobs I've ever seen. Hell, Bayless stopped them and split them up at times they weren't even clinching! For someone who claims they are "The Best Ever" he should be ahamed of himself. He handicapped the hell out of Chino. Bayless was literally hand picked by Mayweathers team and Sr. admitted to it.

Yes. But he stopped boxing because he said there was no need for him to anymore because of the money. The only way we see Chino is if he blows all of his money. But its clear to me that Canelo fought the guy he could knockout as opposed to Chino. Chino would have given him a run for his money in 2010-2011.

Khan could have been one of the best boxers to ever lace 'em up if his chin wasn't made of cheap glasses. This man can box, jealous down.
Helped by the referee or not, Khan showed a lot of balls in this fight. Maidana was a monster, punched like a heavyweight and still managed to survived. Khan after this fight was never the same, his cristal chin started after this encounter.
Imagine if Maidana at that point would have been coached by a great team, man im telling you MONSTER.
Do not belittle this great exciting fighter, Amir khan, he really boxes,to be frank Amir khan is the random motion in the ring, always on the move with beautiful jab and extraordinary swift punches, makes it spectacular, never a bore, a fighter to reckon with, do not undermine him by saying glass chin,but has a class to overcome all weakness, boxer with a difference, my appreciation, sir, best wishes, God bless.

+Benswan187 it's fair to say it's a combination of poor punch resistance and average defence. Khan relies on his speed to bail him out. He got dropped by Julio Diaz and since then has fought guys with sub 50% ko rates. Now he has his big money retirement fight.

+fred_ed 92 This what I'm saying. He took Maidana's shots a lot in this fight and never went down. Stumbled, but never went down. A LOT of people have been put down by Maidana. Khan just used to take the shots clean on the chin because of the way he would leave it exposed. If anyone gets caught on the chin clean like that they're gonna go down. Maidana even rocked Floyd when he left his chin exposed in their 2nd fight and Floyd had a granite chin.
Respect to both of them ,hardest sport in the world throw back to the classic fights of the fifties ,Maidana is like a modern

@Adrian Flores In your dreams, why did Gayrunner duck him after everyone voted for Khan 70% to 30% instead of Pacman, yet Fraud Gayrunner went back on his word and picked pacman instead because he knew Khan doesn't lose to points and he's too fast for Fraud, Khan would win off points easily against Fraud. Plus Khan took many shots from the heaviest of hitters in this bracket, Fraud doesn't even come close to being a hard hitter, he's a points guy who runs all fight and jabs to score points.
Khan would be way too fast for him and would score more points too because that's what he does, he has the best scoring of points because of his speed, stamina and reach.

Maidana had to fight Kahn and Cortez in that fight. Cortez should have taken at least a point for kahn holding and pushing down on Maidana head. Cortez also refused to let Maidana fight on the inside. Great fight horrible ref

Cortez never let Maidana actually brawl, because when he landed good shots he would split the two up. Dude Maidana destroyed Khan when it comes to damage! Khan had his face all cut up and Maidana had few cuts. I’m surprised Cortez didn’t stop the fight when Maidana beat the shit out of Khan. Only reason Khan survived, was because he was holding Maidana every chance he got!

I think the result would've been much different if Maidana had Robert Garcia in his corner. Boy he really became a better polished fighter with the Garcia team, improved his jab in particular and ability to cut off the ring.

39:12 why did Cortez interfere here? Amir turned around on his own volition, it's his fault to be in that position. Maidana could have actually KO'd Amir here (with a shot to the chin from around, not via a shot to the back of the head) had Cortez not interfered. Amir was part of Golden Boy at this time, wouldn't be surprised if Cortez was on GB payroll.

Joe Cortez kind of screwed Maidana over in that fight. He was rough and strict on Maidana, but not Khan. Maidana’s coach made a good point when he said, “If you’re gonna take a point away from Marcos, then take a point away from him!”

Khan kept turning his back cuz he didn't want to keep getting punched in the face. The poor guy was running for his life. If it wasn't for that ref, he could've been killed in those last three rounds. Khan has blinding hand speed, but no power. Khan has good escape skills, but loves to get smashed in the back of the head. Khan, has decent head movement, but almost loses his head every time he gets throttled. He won on points, but he should thank the ref for that point deduction for that elbow that actually missed and hit the ref...Great fight though.
