Construction of the world's first energy island

DEME and Jan De Nul will build the world's first energy island for transmission system operator Elia. The island will be a crucial link in Belgium’s energy supply. It will open up the future Princess Elisabeth wind zone (3.5 GW) and connect Belgium with Great Britain and Denmark via new interconnectors (Nautilus and TritonLink respectively).

This Island will not stay in position due to the pressure of huge amount sand on the inside and no back pressure on the outside.
