I had my first CT scan today for pancreas pain. No one told me that I’d throw up all over the place when my nurse injected the contrast through my IV. I never want to experience that ever again.
I'm sorry you had that experience. Nausea is a common sensation but rarely results in vomiting. One reason for vomiting is if your stomach is not empty. We try not to alarm patients with rare expectations.
This is the first place I’ve heard that iodine isn’t used anymore in CT.
It is used
He says it with such confidence too. If it's injected, it's iodine based. Even most of the ingested contrast is iodine based.
my doc doesnt let me get scans with contrast because I only have1 kidney due to cancer..Now i need an angiogram which takes dye...Will see the heart doc next week for consultation. I have many questions about the dye
This is understandable since your kidney gets rid of the contrast. Some questions to ask: can they use a lower dose and is it possible to get the same diagnosis with MRI. All the best.
@@AWAShowme I had the angiogram in June and no problems with the dye and my 1 kidney. Doc assured me they use much less dye with the cardiac catherization than with the ct scan angiogram so I went through with it. I had 3 blockages at 40%. Sounds bad but it wasnt enough for stents or surgery. I have had ct scans every 6 months for the last 7 years due to renal cell carcinoma but with no contrast. Im hanging in there..
About a week ago, my wife had an angiogram. The procedure was uneventful and no issues were found concerning her heart. However, she is allergic to metal and we're learning that the contrast injected during the procedure contains metal. Soon after returning home, she commented that she is having difficulty focusing. Her eyesight seems to have been affected by the contrast. Hopefully, this is a temporary condition.
How is your wife doing?
@@John-nv5zy Thank-you for asking. Her eye site is still an issue. She's been through a range of tests and still no answers. So far, we're waiting for some definitive answers.
@@GregSr I'm sorry to hear that. I hope she gets back to normal asap. Thank you very much for responding.
@GregSr what kind of contrast did she get?
@@tawandajones957 I don't know. Maybe I forgot? She's still having tests done. Her eyesight is still somewhat blurry. She has her phone display set for large fonts.
I had a cat-scan they put the iso 300 I cannot get it out of me it's been ten weeks.
I've been to for providers and nobody wants to help me get it out is there anybody that can help me
@@mikesteinmetz5194 get tons of natural sun light n sweat that crap out
@@mikesteinmetz5194how do you know it’s still in your body?
@@mikesteinmetz5194all that iodine should be out in 2 months.
@@mikesteinmetz5194 It's highly unlikely that it remains in your body past 24 hours. It is excreted via your urine.
I recently had one for lungs. Extremely painful as iv leaked in skin . They put ice pack on it but it's still inflamed. If you can imagine the sting you receive from an injection then multiply that by 20. Hope I do not suffer and side effects.
Sorry. How are you now?
@@MOAB-UT Fine now thank you for asking
@@choctaw6838 Good to hear.
Is it true that the radiation dose with contrast is higher than without contrast?
This is true. Consider that the industry standard CT scanners deliver significantly lower dose than in years past.
I have hypothyroidism. Now they have given me Iodine contrast in AIIMS for CT scan.😢😢😢😢😢
What happened?
I have a SHOCKING allergy to Iodine both internal and topical, man in 1984 it almost killed me. PLEASE DOCS, check with your patients even tho you say iodine is not in them anymore
You're allergic to fish too?
The video has incorrect information. CT contrast definitely has iodine. However it's not the same as topical iodine and not the same type of contrast that was used in 1984. IN 1984, they used contrast that would break apart into particles (ionic) increasing the chance of an allergic reaction. Today non-ionic contrast is used. This greatly reduces the chance of reactions. I hope you're doing well.
