*Pinakanapansin ko nung nakatira ako sa Korea* ay yung Korean media They only highlight negative things about the Ph like those poor people living in the slums, those obsessed kpop fans, "Kopino case"(reason why some Koreans think us filipinas are "easy to get") and crimes. while yung media natin shows Kpop, Kdramas, korean fashion and kbeauty products tho there were sometimes news about korean drug dealers/smugglers but yeah mostly good thing.
so yeah MEDIA really plays a HUGE role here

I went to Daegu in 2016 and I found the place clean, quiet, and interesting. However, there was one time I was waiting in the bus station and a Korean male approached me trying to befriend me, but some tourist cautioned me not to talk to him because there are swindlers roaming around the place and I might be victimized. So you see, every country has its own issue, dirt, controversy... Koreans think they are privileged because of their popularity out of Kpop... they make fun of us because of our English accent but they come to the Philippines to be taught the language. We may have that accent but our English is as clear as crystal water.

It is still a developing country and GDP per capita is low ad infant mortality rate is very high. Also Phillippines got hella terror attacks, if you ask me which is more dangerous where litterially the whole far south is a no-go zone according to travel guides. sulu archipelago and the zamboanga peninsula are all considered extremely dangerous. since there is more poverty, more petty crimes. HOwever, I respect Phillippines i think its fine, and I respect them for fighting with us and the us on the korean war. IDk why some people in korea attack Phillippines and I have multiple phillipino friends here in Canada. I respect Phillippios and they are typically friendly people. Please just ignore the ignorant ones that talk trash cus we love you over here. As a Filipino I just want to say that, it's so fun here in the Philippines also when you're young you will always in outside and play with your friends and cousins with the traditional games like "Piko, luksong baka,tagu-taguan, taya-tayaan,tumbang lata, and more" And also when it's raining you will go to your parents and tell them that you will go outside and just take a shower in the rain("mama maliligo lang ako sa ulan payagan nyo nako please sila ano oh naliligo na ohh sigina po payagan nyo please:D")and your parents will going to say yes and You can totally Go outside and Play with your friends even it's raining I miss that time:( even after you go outside and play with you're friends in the rain you're going to have a fever and btw i'm proud of of being a Filipino!♥♥♥♥

I lived in Angeles City for most of the 80's, I was in the Air Force at Clark. We, (3TFW), went to Korea several times, seems like it was always in the winter too ! During my days at Clark there were several coup attempts, and the NPA was attacking, and threatening all Americans in the PI. My parents were very concerned because of the typical "end of the world" reporting they heard in American news reports. I lived off base but felt safe and secure during all of the bad acting/bad reporting that was going on. I always enjoyed my time in South Korea too, even though we faced a FAR larger threat there. Those years were the best of my life, I have not been back since 1990 , but long desperately for the friendly happy times I enjoyed there. It always broke my heart to leave the Philippines so I just stay here and adapt. THANKS for your video, it took me back to a happier time and place.

I remember during my internship in Korea in 2017 and I had to promote PH tourism to the Korean market at a travel fair. There were a LOOOOT of questions about safety and security in PH and the Koreans mentioned that they're really scared. That was the time when there were a looot of happenings in the Philippines (the case of Jee Ick Joo, the shooting in Resorts World, the Martial Law in Mindanao, the case of the 3 Koreans who were killed). Tbh, I really didn't know how to respond to them especially when an old man went to our booth and kept telling people not to travel to the Philippines coz we kill Koreans and that PH is definitely not safe. It was a real challenge

Even I as a Filipino, doesn't really fully trust the police. I mean, we don't respect them cause they deserve it. We respect them because we're scared. I believe that there are lots of good police officers it's just I myself is scared as encountering a corrupt one has a high possibility. Last year, a lot of crimes have been reported wherein the police is involved. I really hope that the government do something about this.

I once had an audio call with a Korean through HelloTalk. They were also concerned about safety especially in Manila. I said it depends on where in the metro you live, and they should probably stay in safe places if they wish to visit the city.
It’s interesting to observe that just because of several incidents in the news, we quickly jump to conclusions that a place is dangerous to live on.
Just because there’s a plane crash somewhere in the world doesn’t make airplanes dangerous.

Loved that you dealt with it in detail. Sad that the Philippines again is under scrutiny of the biased press. Hopefully people would smarten up and realize that the country isn't made up of one or two or three bad incidents. If this is the rationale of how people should think...just wondering the sort of random shootings happening in the US almost every week. Guns going to wrong hands thus mass killings happening so often now yet I still won't qualify seeing the entire USA as a totally bad country. And it is not! This is a COMPLEX issue to tackle but getting really well informed I think is key in this situation! The Philippines has issues like every country but it needs to be viewed on all its sides...good and bad! Let us be educated travelers please.

Your point is right Jessica that people should only be aware & conscious on the present situation of both countries whether it is good or bad coz a single or twice gruesome events didnt represented the country as whole whether it is worst or not in its safety & security, probably it's just remote incidents (how remote it is maybe 1 in a million incidents) I think the most important is just be extra careful & vigilant in whereever countries you go... As a human, I do believe that every country has its own pros and cons. We can't really find a country that is 'perfect' in any way. The Philippines has its own bad issues and characteristics but there is always goodness if you look in the other side. As a Filipino, I don't really feel safe in my own country but I do not base my judgment by a mere feeling. I still have doubts but feel assured at the same time.
And like what Ate Jessica said, it's a case by case basis. And I think people are just being cautious. It is good to be careful but also be sure that you know facts and don't base your judgment by just your feelings or other people's opinion.

I really hope you can share your insight to this because I'd love to hear it!! (because when i knew of this, i was legit scared and now i dont want to go to Korea anymore even if it was one of my dream destinations to go to ☹) i know all countries have their dark sides but i never heard so much testimonies and personal experiences being shared about how they were s3xually harassed in SK :((

Where I'm from, I see a lot of people with those same kinds of fears about Mexico. It's quite difficult to convince people otherwise. However, I enjoy going because I live so close to the border than it's easier then even traveling to other cities in my own country.

As Koreans, it can be said that Filipinos are kinder and have no stereotypes than Koreans, and generally have a really relaxed personality.

So it always impresses me when I hear and see someone take the time to learn and speak English well, even though they did not go to school in an English speaking country like mine (USA) it's so amazing to see a beautiful Asian doing so, Thankyou.

I am a filipino!., actually i love everything in south korea like place, food, and everything, that would make me happy, actually i bought me a korean gas stove, korean grill for samyupsal and any noodles, i respect all koreans and everything in south korea ,but the painful is, Some of korean are not have a good heart! and not true to her self!, and pretentious and above all is looking down in philippines., i can not believe that half korean this is how it looks. don't they remember the defense of many Filipino armies in their country?. I hope you keep in mind and heart..

The amount of work you put in to your videos is really admirable. With the research, video quality and editing, you can really see that Jessica really worked hard to make this video as well as all her other videos. She also really did a good job on explaining why some Koreans have this fear of our country, and at the same time also showed Koreans that the Philippines is not really as scary as they think.
I really hope Jessica gets a Gold Play Button soon cause she definitely deserve it.

A very well made and balanced commentary. Well Done.👍 I agree with everything you said. When we go to any foreign country, all of us experience some sort of fear or even feel anxious especially when you cannot speak the local language or perhaps only a few people can speak English. In the end, we should keep an open mind and not immediately draw conclusions 😀
