Can we all just sit for a minute and really embrace the fact that Snape was the bravest man alive in this movie. From a young boy with a messed up childhood due to his vicious parents, who was friends with the only girl he loved and felt a connection with, to her being taken away from him by the Gryffindor house and having to deal with the fact that the man who singlehandedly bullied him on a day to day basis, humiliated him for no logical reason and proceeds to marry the one friend, the one girl who he ever loved - to regretting an insult directed at Lily as soon as it slipped his tongue, and being forced to join a group of evil wizards so that he may feel a sense of accomplishment, but it never stopped him from loving Lily, he then proceeds to deal with the fact that the one girl he ever loved will perhaps die the next day and relies solely on dumbledore to protect them, they then die and their son who looks exactly like the bully from his past becomes intrusive to his day to day lives. Just imagine this for a second. Having to deal with ALL of that, whilst simultaneously working to protect hogwarts, harry and dumbledore from evil, working ALONGSIDE evil, the evil who killed the one girl he ever loved and living with the burden of having to stare at the boy who reminds him of it all. That boy who reminds him of torture, bullied, the house that took lily away him, this boy reminds him of everything, including the eyes of his lover. Just imagine staring at that face for the next 7 years or so. You have to be brave to be standing on your feet to have to deal with all that simultanously . God speed Alan Rickman and RIP Severus Snape.

When Lily and James died to protect Harry, when Sirius was sent to Azkaban for the muder he never commited, when Snape decided to scarify the rest of his life to be a double agent -the only way to face his endless filling of guilty- all of them were only 21. That's broken lives.

Since Dumbledore deduced that Harry Potter himself was a horcrux, therefore had to die, Severus had a real problem with following Dumbledore's orders. He would not endanger Harry's life, nor allow danger to come to him if he could help it. Severus Snape died before Harry Potter dueled Voldemort for the final time. He did everything he possible could to keep harry safe, even from Dumbledore himself.
Now that is an interesting point of view. I personally believe that James used to be an asshole but became nicer and a better person. I mean after all Lilly could convinve him to make peace with Severus. He was about to apologize to him for the bullying And Snape would have been much nicer and warmer to people if that happened

Snape was just fantastic. Over the years, I've grown to like him more and more, and in the years since the last book, he's become my scone favourite character. Poor guy. Also, RIP Alan Rickman - a true legend of an actor. One of the biggest examples of a part an actor going together so well you can't imagine one without the other
I am on the Hero Snape team for sure. True, he'll never win any Mr. Congeniality contests, but took the most dangerous mission of the entire war, knowing he'd get no glory or recognition, all for the greater good. The fact that he didn't even like Harry, in my opinion, makes his actions even more admirable.

I was loyal to Professor Snape since the end of the first book, as it was revealed, that he actually tried to save Harry. I didn't believe he was returning a favour, because James had saved Professor Snape, I supsected there was more to it. When you start the story you can only give him the benefit of doubt at first, but to the end of the first book, I stuck to him and I'm glad I did.
True! But only in the movie... In the book Harry is hidden under his invisibility cloak. Dumbledore put a spell on him so he couldn't move, incase he would try to stop the death eaters. When Dumledore died the spell broke and Harry ran after the death eaters, well Snape... I don't think Snape knew Harry was there, but I might be wrong!...
Also, in the fourth movie, Snape was able to tell that Mad Eye was an imposter by sniffing in the bottle that Mad Eye was carrying and was able to detect it was polyjuice.

jhune Malasibas When Voldemort tried to kill Harry, his mother's love caused his killing curse to backfire, destroying Voldemort's body. At that time, however, he was immortal, so his soul lived on. A part of his soul latched on to Harry, meaning Harry was a little bit of Voldemort. This basically means Harry must die for Voldemort to die. That was a very basic explanation and I missed out on a lot. I seriously recommend you read the books; they're absolutely amazing.
This is how the darkest souls prove that they are bright, and they aren't evil, they help so much to gain trust, still get trusted by few, and in the end mostly suffer and few prevail. Those who help others in problems and have every solution has been through the situation you are going through. The one who helps others is mostly the one to be deserted/abandoned later. He was the reason Lily and James died and he actually didn't care if Voldemort killed Harry and James only Lily mattered to him....during the whole series he just cleaned his mess....that doesn't make him noble! Jannatul Shoilee while he's certainly not a kind teacher, saying that he's a child abuser based on a character who's specifically shown to be extremely timid bring afraid of him is a bit far fetched. Also, there are a few reasons that Harry's scar might have hurt that make far more sense than Snape himself- specifically, Snape's dark mark or, even more likely, quirrel's proximity. I'm not gonna argue that he was particularly nice- though his conversation with Dumbledore in the sixth year perhaps shows that he was at least partially acting by that point- but he was certainly a good person and a hero.

And I'm sure you know as well as me who was living in the back of Quirrel's head... no?😉 It's at this moment that Severus started to suspect Quirrel. When he saw Harry reacting and his scar hurting him.
Okay his scar hurting was because of Quirrel head...even though he was already in the Great Hall...hummm!!! But Snape was keeping an eye on Quirrel on Dumbledore's orders, he didn't really suspected him before. Just because he was working on Dumbledore's order doesn't mean he had to be that rude and hateful towards Harry....he wasn't the only member of the order, yet he seem to make sure Harry's life is unpleasant, he did try his best to expel him before the 5th book. His work was dangerous and all but he did it from his remorse and not bravery.
Snape made us realise that, Concern and love can have a face & soul like his'. He loved Lily so selflessly that even herself being married to the person who mercilessly bullied and made fun of him since the very beginning did not diminish his feeling for her, He never let this fact dominate his persona and firmly backed potter on every threat of his without even letting the latter sense it. Also everyone remember that in new the cursed child book, snape is not dead and he continues to work as double agent and he helps ron and Hermione in surviving.... Later draco's son scorpious tells him that he belongs to the other world..... Again snape helps them by getting through dementors risking his own life.... In last he tells scorpious that he is very proud that (Harry who is alive in another world) harry named his son on albus and snape's name.... Without no doubt he was the bravest man i ever new.....

I give credit to Snape for his dynamic character and bravery, and how he helped Harry save the Wizarding World. However I also have to acknowledge Alan Rickman for giving such a great performance of the character. I don't see anyone else doing such a role.

Joey Adamson Snape was chasing George Weasley. When it is time to "play his part convincingly", he used Sectumsempra. But it was for a Death Eater, he did not meant to use it on George.
If you come to think of it, the whole series in a way revolves around him. Because wr he not there at various points of time Voldemort would have killed Harry. It was Snape who saved him at many points together.

2:34 - Snape was one of the most accomplished wizards in ligilimency. He successfully kept his triple agent a secret from Voldemort and the Order of the Phoenix without causing suspicion. Voldemort actually regretted killing Snape indicating that at the end, Voldemort thought Snape was his.
That's actually pretty sad tbh .... if you think about it in prisoner of Azkaban when snape saw Sirius he did everything he could to stop him to save the 3 of them ...not knowing that Sirius was good .he probably thought harry was to kind and would believe any sob story told by Sirius he risked his life to save harry but harry cast the disarm spell on Snape ...that must of been a real low blow for Snape as he was so worried about harry
I always thought Snape was misunderstood, but I still wondered if he actually a good human being. That scene confirmed that despite everything he was actually a really good guy, because his instincts were to protect all the children. It seems weird I know but it's one of my favorite scenes in the entire series. I only read part of the first one and all of the second book so I really only was able to base my knowledge on him based on the movies.

*cough cough well, many stories in fanfiction.net are good at portraying Severus character in outsider light although I confess many of them are SSHG as they both have the potential to intrigue each other, like academic discussion and sarcastic conversation. Many writers explained Severus's action brilliantly.

This type of character made jk rowling a genius. It was brilliant. She made us hate a character so much till the very end when she revealed he was the only one that we could've trusted the most. A man loyal to dumbledoor and his love for lily. Fantastic beast is great. I don't read any of the books. Only watched the movies. I sometimes get a bit frustrated with Harry when he can’t see everything good Snape has done for him. I wish they could have had a chance to have a good honest conversation about everything
I'm sure adult harry would have loved that. He came to recognize Snape as 'the bravest man' of his acquaintance and he named his kid after him after all. I think seeing them interact during the years would have been far more interesting than Snape dying to achieve redemption, only to have all the marauders' generation dead and maybe even more realistic. I think Snape atoning for his past mistakes should have led him to a better life, not to death.

Actually it was Dumbledore who suspected Quirrel and told Snape to watch him. Makes sense that he'd instantly check on the Stone when the guy he's supposed to be watching literally runs into the Great Hall flapping his arms and screaming for people to "Look over there! It's a thing!!!!!" :P

The bravest and most noble person in the entire series was not Harry but Severus Snape.
He was the reason Lily and James died and he actually didn't care if Voldemort killed Harry and James only Lily mattered to him....during the whole series he just cleaned his mess....that doesn't make him noble! Whatever he did doesn't excuse the way he treated Harry and the first time his scar hurt was when Snape looked at him at the Great Hall that's how much he hated him! Loving Lily for all his life doesn't excuse that!

Also, there are a few reasons that Harry's scar might have hurt that make far more sense than Snape himself- specifically, Snape's dark mark or, even more likely, quirrel's proximity.
I'm not gonna argue that he was particularly nice- though his conversation with Dumbledore in the sixth year perhaps shows that he was at least partially acting by that point- but he was certainly a good person and a hero.

Just because he was working on Dumbledore's order doesn't mean he had to be that rude and hateful towards Harry....he wasn't the only member of the order, yet he seem to make sure Harry's life is unpleasant, he did try his best to expel him before the 5th book. That scene confirmed that despite everything he was actually a really good guy, because his instincts were to protect all the children. This is one of my favorite videos. About this time 4 years ago I was starting to have a panic attack. This Vid was on my feed and the intro music was so calming. I watch it once a year around this time. And it cemented Snape in my heart as well. Thanks Lizb!

This type of character made jk rowling a genius. It was brilliant. She made us hate a character so much till the very end when she revealed he was the only one that we could've trusted the most. A man loyal to dumbledoor and his love for lily.
Fantastic beast is great. I don't read any of the books. Only watched the movies. So I hope she makes another brilliant storyline like she did with harry potter. I also hope she stops TRYING so hard to be diverse and politically correct. Just let it be natural.
I feel like a whole feature on Snape would've been needed in the films, a lot of people see him as a villainThe films missed a lot of key points in the books

Thank you making this amazing video. I have watched this series many times and i loved it so much. I haven't noticed many scenes of snape. he is wonderful man.
I sometimes get a bit frustrated with Harry when he can’t see everything good Snape has done for him. I wish they could have had a chance to have a good honest conversation about everything
I'm sure adult harry would have loved that. He came to recognize Snape as 'the bravest man' of his acquaintance and he named his kid after him after all. I think seeing them interact during the years would have been far more interesting than Snape dying to achieve redemption, only to have all the marauders' generation dead and maybe even more realistic. I think Snape atoning for his past mistakes should have led him to a better life, not to death.
If Harry could learn the Occlumency, he could be told everything.

I think Snape (in novel) told Draco to create the snake..to maybe let Harry know about his power(Parseltongue) which helps him late in CoS..
Actually it was Dumbledore who suspected Quirrel and told Snape to watch him.
Makes sense that he'd instantly check on the Stone when the guy he's supposed to be watching literally runs into the Great Hall flapping his arms and screaming for people to "Look over there! It's a thing!!!!!" :P

And why snape was so cold towards harry is because he didn't want to lose voldemort's trust. So that he could continue to spy on him
I wouldn't say unprofessional but I'd say that's what makes him human. Jealousy it's part of human nature.

1. Snape isn't jealous of Harry or his father. He hates Harry father and projects this hate now on Harry.
2. Even if it makes him more human, for a teacher it IS unprofessional. As a teacher he SHOULD know better then hating the son of the bully in your schooltime.

Harry was a Gryffindor, not a Slytherin, because he chose to be brave.
Ron was a Gryffindor, not a Hufflepuff, because he chose to be brave.
Hermione was a Gryffindor, not a Ravenclaw, because she chose to be brave.

This ambition quite _literally_ came back to kill him in the end, in the form of Nagini, the snake.
Snape spent 7 years at Hogwarts trying to be a great Slytherin.
He spent the next 21 years proving he could've been an even greater Gryffindor all along.
