In full: Keir Starmer victory speech as Labour wins in landslide

- Sir Keir Starmer held a victory rally in central London after Rishi Sunak conceded defeat in the general election.
The Labour leader told Labour activists: “We did it. You campaigned for it, you fought for it, you voted for it and now it has arrived: Change begins now.
“And it feels good, I have to be honest.”
Labour has now officially won the election, having secured 330 seats - a majority in the House of Commons - with 475 out of 650 seats now having declared.
Sir Keir said: “Across our country people will be waking up to the news, relieved that a weight has been lifted, a burden finally removed from the shoulders of this great nation.
“And now we can look forward again, walk into the morning, the sunlight of hope, pale at first but getting stronger through the day, shining once again on a country with the opportunity after 14 years to get its future back.”

The Tories did this to themselves, 14 years of constant failures have culminated in the biggest loss in their parties history. Whether Starmer sticks to what he says is yet to be seen but the bottom line is we needed change in this Country, not just change of PM but change of Government as a whole. It seems like the majority of the British public are generally on the same wavelength and want the same things, no shouting back and forth in Parliament with no action, but sensible, constructive conversations about the direction of the Country.
How is Labour any different from the Tories. So sick of the 2 party system.

Congratulations to Sir Keir on his electoral victory. Sir Keir is one among the many of example of how in English politics good things come to those who follow the rules and wait for their turn. Henry FitzEmpress (also known as Henry II) waited out Étienne de Blois. Elizabeth I waited out two half-siblings (Edward and Mary) and a usurper (Jane). James I, in turn, waited out Elizabeth. Charles II waited out the Commonwealth. George IV waited out his father George III. Victoria (the last Hanoverian) waited out George IV and William IV. Edward VII waited out Victoria. His Majesty, Charles III, waited out the second Elizabeth. In England, patience is a virtue, slow and steady wins the race.
As an aside, "Sir Keir" is quite an uneuphonic mouthful. I suggest (and this is only a suggestion) that Sir Keir be given a title that would require to address him by the much better-sounding "Lord Starmer".
If Labour truly wants to insure UK's Economic & Technological revival then it needs to consider about UK rejoining EU as a full-time member.

Do I think this party will make the right choices for the country and its people, the actual people who have a history and many generations of relatives long gone before now…no no I don’t. My future is bleak as it is as my health declines and it just took a step closer to losing all hope. My anxiety is through the roof
