How Bad Do You Want Reselling To Work? Do What Works For You!

  • The channel was named Flippin Aint Easy for a reason. Yes it is a catchy catch phrase but there are many examples that illustrate how reselling is NOT easy and at the same time NOT hard. Success is not easy and while some make it look easier than others, I promise you the path to success comes with hard work and perseverence. In my case, we were able to make big changes last year and we continue making these changes work for us because we wanted it bad enough, we were able to overlook the fact we are selling things we really aren't excited about. Do you want it bad enough?

    Hi Jon.
    I don't understand people sometimes. I can't see how anyone can not see that you always have all our best interests in mind all the time. For years you have put out videos aimed to assist us to be the best resellers we can be. And being transparent, sometimes at your own detriment. When things have gone wrong for you you honestly divulged them as a learning point for the rest of us.
    I think the issues with the detractors is that you don't sugar coat stuff. You think enough if us to be honest about the issues even if that means getting some backlash.
    So I would say, please continue doing what you do. Those of us who love you and appreciate you for who you are. . The others? Well it's just their loss as I see it.
    Mike from NY

    I agree with you the only thing I could suggest is people who have more than 1 year of sales compared last years for example June to this years June maybe your sales are up. You can’t compare sales in April or may to what happens in June of the same year. Also during the summer use eBay’s tools send out offers do mark down sales work your account don’t just sit back and say sales are slow. Thanks Jon for the video

    Sales are still consistent, currently just over $10k gross last 31 days. When I compare to last years same 31 day time period sales are down 4%. Nothing crazy. If this is the slow sales period, I can't wait for the Fall! I just sold a Kobe jersey for $230 and a Timberwolves Just Don jersey for $250 yesterday. NBA may be out of season but jerseys are a summer time item so no reason they shouldn't sell if they are priced right. Make sure you list them under sports & memorabilia>NBA category Jon. Add team and player specifics for best search results. The power is Yours!!

    I found this while relisting: "An eBay campaign's daily budget is the maximum amount a seller is willing to spend on a single campaign each day. Once the daily budget is reached, the campaign stops serving ads until the next day, when the budget resets. Any unused budget does not roll over to the following day." What is this all about?

    • @FlippinAintEasy
      @FlippinAintEasy  28 дней назад

      Off site ads promoted listings. Which pushes your items over to Google and other sites on the internet using a daily ad spend. In my opinion not worth it (at least for me).

      UPS Ground should be available. When I did the eBay shipping calculater for your size it came up blank for UPS. When i reduced the size I got around $120. to go accross the country. Your Santa better have a value of over $300 or it is not worth selling on eBay.

    You are right the low asp model does not work out well in the long run. It is too much work and not enough profit. People can be offended but it is the truth. Those people are just asking to have constant burn out in their business with that business model. My average ASP is $40 and I am still looking to increase to $45-$50 with better items.

    • @bennystratton7734
      @bennystratton7734 Месяц назад +1

      No he is not and neither are you "You are right the low asp model does not work out well in the long run. It is too much work and not enough profit." look at James he just made some videos over the last few days 73 items sold for $873 his model is the same as mine LOW ASP long tail James has stated it many times both MODELS work its just you have to pick your own hard James made a video recently on how to start doing Long Tail low ASP VOLUME and how ANYONE can start doing that model it does take WORK and Consistency James pointed out with Low ASP long Tail Volume you source less but list more and with the HIGH ASP Fast STR your going to be sourcing More and listing less again you have to choice your hard! DO NOT say one model works over another ITS JUST not true if you don't want to have to list 60k items so you can sell 73 items and make $875 per day that's FINE like Jon stated and its very true MANY sellers just do not want to do the work. Jon even stated in a back and forth conversation he does not want to have to list 10,000 items (he wanted to know if there was another way to do this model without having to list 10,000 items) well if he does not want to do that then the LOW ASP Long tail Slow STR model WILL not work for him nor will it work with anyone else with that mindset the only model that will work with that mindset will be the HIGH ASP FAST STR model
      also "Those people are just asking to have constant burn out in their business with that business model" the only way you will have burn out is if your only doing this for ONE reason if your motivation is MONEY both Models will lead you to burn out because if you truly do not love what you do it will feel like a job and work and will lead to burn out but as the saying goes if you love what you do (job wise) then you will never feel like you worked a day in your life its `100% true I truly LOVE every aspect of reselling and because I do not do this Just for the money there are MANY other things i do this for that Motivate me and why i have never had burn out! i have been doing this for 25 years since 98' i have always done the Slow STR long tail VOLUME model its the only one as james states (which is 100% true) the only model that will provide Longevity

      @@bennystratton7734 you said I’m not right. Maybe I’m not but I would like to know what I specifically said in this video that you disagree with. My point is that many new sellers will fall into a trap thinking the smaller ASP long tail items will work without having volume. Many new sellers don’t have the capital and they certainly haven’t put in the time to make that work in the short term. Only those who are willing to play the long game can make that work. Look around. Those who have made that work have played the long game. Many people aren’t trying to do that and are trying to replace a 9-5 income. That is the only point I have been trying to make. Never had I said there is only one path to success.

    • @bennystratton7734

      @@FlippinAintEasy all i have said is you hae to choice your hard do you want to source all the time for high ASP items that sell quick (fast STR) or do you want to buy in bulk and List More (then source) and play the long tail game there is nothing wrong with that or as i have said many times WHY NOT BOTH you can do both I am proof of that James is proof of that it does not have to BE one or the other it CAN BE both at the same time. again James put out some great videos Explaining the differences between the to methods/models of selling
      if you agree that "It is too much work and not enough profit" then your not doing the model James and i do correctly he just showed you he purchases 2000 records for $200 there are deals out there he has stated over and over again he sells things others DO NOT want too Same with me why because there LOW ASP id to have to disagree with you the MAJROITY of sellers have significant others that bring in income from one or 2 jobs or they have Retirmentint income and pensions so there not doing it JUST for the money again if your Not doing it just for the money and there are OTHER motivations it will keep you from burning out.
      same with being an everything seller of Low Medium and High VALUE (ASP) items no matter if its FAST or SLOW STR every day is different and this also keeps you from burning out you wanted to know the secrets these are 2 big ones.
      again you have to choice your hard do you want to list 10's of thousands of items that you might net $5 on and do this Year after year or do you want to go out and chase HIGH ASP FAST STR items that is up to the Individual Seller really, Not you are i.
      and again both models work and they both work for new or old sellers (don't make excuses about not enough capital) its just how much work ethic you want to put in and neither one is perfect both will have there ups and downs but as James has pointed out multiple times and he is 100% correct the Model we do is For Longevity the HIGH ASP FAST STR model is a short term model if your only doing this for the short term then that model might be more suited for that seller but if your a seller that wants to do this for another 25 years the Model James does the model i do that is the one that will best suit you (and i suggest any seller that wants to do this model Long Tail Slow STR Low ASP High VOLUME do not quit your day job till have you have at least 10k items listed and have daily sales its just common sense)
      There are not many sellers Jon that are doing this Full time were eBay is there ONLY income most that do that are in the Minority not the Majority i have pointed out just with YT resellers many have spouses that have a Good/Great Job that brings in a second income or there spouses income is the MAIN income and there reselling income is the second income I feel for those that are trying to do this as the SOLE income its VERY VERY hard to do that More YT resellers need to talk about that subject even tech had a Computer repair business, a lawn business, real estate, a brick and mortar shop and EBAY

    • @bennystratton7734

      btw you say most are doing this to replace a 9--5 job the Federal minimum wage is $7.25 so if someone is working 40 hours a week x 4 weeks its $1160 per month Before taxes is taken out of the paycheck so its even less per month you can easily replace that Income with either model again your very vague when throwing out a "9-5 income" (this is very different from person to person!) and there are many who are still only making $7.25.
      i mean you have a YT channel which could reach millions, probably does. so you have to take yourself out of your shoes and understand NOT everyone has a great 9-5 income there are many that are still at $7.25 there are many that are at $12-15 and there are some that are at $20-25 You need to understand jon when you make videos you are talking to all these types of sellers NOT JUST the ones making $20 plus an hour or those who have come from compete jobs or salary jobs (they are in the minority)

      from zikanalytics
      "How much does the average eBay seller make?
      As of 2022, the average revenue for eBay sellers is $42,000 annually. Some sellers earn up to $70,000! Therefore, there is a good amount of online sellers that make money selling on eBay as their primary source of income."
      we know that there are 18 million sellers world wide if we say that half is doing this good we have to remember that is Gross not net so if most are running a 50% margin what ebay deposits in there bank is half of that number stated so $42,000 is really $21k (then you have to deduct all your business expense for the year that you pay for each month) same with the $70k earners that is gross so net would be $35k both of these NET amounts is way better then someone working a 9-5 brick and mortar job that is getting paid federal minimum wage of $7.25 which would be about $13,920 per year (before taxes) even if your making $15 per hour your yearly gross is only $28,800 (before taxes) again the $35 net for the $70 gross sounds great compared to the $28,800 you would get at job paying you $15 per hour especially if you hat that 9-5 job and you actually TRULY love reselling again if you love what you do for work then you will never feel like you worked a day in your life 1000% true again MANY do this NOT JUST for the money Jon yep i know how hard that is to understand and accept but its the truth there are MANY other Motivations and reason why people want to resell and Build there own business INSTEAD of helping build someone else's
