Someone say wedding? Only if it’s me and you :SSS
YOU SEXY BEAST
Power couple
Love you @Welchy!
"You fixed it" as the bundt cake is being brought out with a plant in the middle, cracks me up every time. One of my top feel good movies.
Yeah I love that joke and also when they confuse Tula's mother in law name.
I think my favourite line has to be
"Oh woe is me, business is bad"
My all-time favorite quote in this movie is "we may be lambs in the kitchen, but we are tigers in the bedroom." it cracks me up every time 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
As a Greek, this movie was AMAZING 😂 It felt so weird the first time I watched it
I’m soooo happy this movie exist
Do you feel like this was a good reflection of your culture? It made me love the Greek culture outside of the food 😋
ME TOO i felt both represented and called out lol
@@UniqueLove32 As a Greek I would say there are elements of truth, elements calling out some of our silly behaviours and some things that feel very exaggerated. Overall the vibe is fairly accurate.
The leads have such underrated chemistry in my opinion. Also, I have a feeling that parents are like Toula’s parents lmao
YESSS
The actresses real father is named Gus. This was written by the actress so it most likely mirrored a bit of her life with finding love with a non-greek.
I enjoy seeing the comments about everybody's favourite scene from this movie and there are so many amazing scenes, but in Greece the most favourite scene is the one in which the young guys from the bride's family tricked the groom , who wanted to flatter them by speaking some greek , into saying "ECHO TRIA ARCHIDIA= I HAVE THREE TESTICLES". The movie theater was trembling from the laughing and my father almost had a heart attack 😅😅😅😅
"We may be lambs in the kitchen, but we are tigers in the bedroom" might just be the biggest HOLD UP movie line I've heard in a while
RIGHT? Where did that come from??
In interviews, Nia Vardalos said it was something her mother said to her and it was so weird she just couldn't get it out of her mind for a really long time.
Fun fact: the guy who places the best friend of the groom…was the brides husband in reality…he is even called Ian. He did convert to Greek orthodoxy when marrying her…so it’s kinda about their life, they adopted a daughter but unfortunately divorced in 2018. It was produced by Tom hanks and his wife Rita Wilson….another fact is which I think make these films so successful are the budget was $5 million and made $368.7 million, even my big fat Greek wedding 2 ( which I highly recommend you watch next) was budgeted $18 million and made $90.6 million. The 3rd is due to be released soon.
Favorite line: "What you mean he don't eat no MEAT!; That's alright I make lamb."
Me and my mother randomly quote this all the time.😅
My Favorite scene however is her getting yanked back by her headphones 🎧 😂 That moment lives rent free in my brain.😅
This movie is SO emotional to my teen memories! My dad was crazy about it, which would never cross your mind if you had met him, all 6'4" and martial arts trained. Since he passed, every time I watch this movie all I can think is how I wish he would have been at my wedding, offering shots to my husband's very catholic family just to copy the movie... AMAZING! LOVE IT!
This movie has always been a favorite of mine and I am so pumped for the third one. I literally cannot pick a favorite line because there are so many amazing/iconic ones.
This is a real MBFGW Stan right here ♥️🫡
Fav Michael Constantine line, They're different people, so dry like a piece of toast...my daughter is gonna marry Ian Miller with a toast family 😅....
He says in greek after that " she going marry a stranger. 😂😂😂😂
I grew up loving this movie. I can't wait for the third movie .
This is one of my all time favorite movies! The commentary is great too!
The "let me touch your hair" line was actually improv. The actress forgot her line so said the first thing she could think of, lol.
Also 'Toula"s actual husband played the part of movie husband's best friend. Sadly I think they are divorced now.
Please, might I suggest you check out the movie Fools Gold?
My favorite and very quoted line is “why you want to leave me?”…cracks me up every time!
As a greek cypriot i can guarantee this is how greek families are (of course caricatured for the movie)
I love this so much
Really koumpare? Check the Cypriots on England Or Australia 😅😅😅 klama
The reason for the Wonders music is probably because Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are producers (I'm sure Playtone produced it?) on this!
I LOVE that!!
My favorite line from this movie is when Toula tells Ian "I don't know. If I survived an old lady ass kicking, I'd brag about it."
I always loved watching Toula's glow up, it's really beautiful to watch her come out of her shell and take that opportunity to change her life. ❤
I liked that it was something gradual, she gained more confidence and slowy glowed up. Also I was so glad they did not straighten her hair.
This is one of my favorite rom coms! My family and I are always quoting it. I also really love the proposal
The proposal is so cute!!
This movie I only watched just last year for the first time and I have to say already on my list for top rom coms of all time ❤
Anything out of grandma's mouth is my favourite line. Absolutely iconic.
I loved this movie AFTER I got married. (Too stressed before) My family and his family are just as crazy (big Latino family + big Southern Family) and there are so many moments in this movie I relate too.
As one of 34 cousins, I laughed my ass off when she talks about her family.
Honestly the "only 2 cousins" thing weirded me out, coming from a culture where large immediate families are the norm. Mom and dad's side combined? I've got 50+ first cousins. And the second cousins would be wildly offended if I don't know their kid's names because I'm aunty to them too. One of my second cousins introduced me to his kids for the first time as his little sister. Random aunt we've never met before? The kids just went with it. It probably helped that I bake all the time and they associate my arrival with sweets 😅
As someone from a small immediate family I can't imagine remembering all those people.
@@monkimallow the anecdotes help. 😅
" I could snap you like a chicken" was always one of my favorites 🤣🤣🤣
I'm not really sure how many cousins I have. My dad had half-siblings I never knew existed!
I love that the guy who says, "Hey Ian, we're gonna kill you!" is Joey Fatone from N'SYNC. Love this reaction so much... I also agree with you about Nico. He has a bit of who's your boss energy. 😉
My favorite quote is the one that starts at the start of the film and lasts till the end. The whole film is awesome.
“And the neck can make the head turn any way she wants”
PERIOD
The Greek Easter greetings are more along the lines of "Christ is risen" than "Happy Easter", referring to the resurrection of Jesus. My favorite part is where Nikki and her husband are dancing really fast to the slow paced, Greek rendition of "All My Only Dreams".
I’m greek ( half Greek anyway ) so this movie always holds a special spot for me, with YaYa still being a G that you don’t mess with + the loud 100s of us, also theOuzo is what they were drinking, I remember my 21 I got a bottle an drank most of it that night, I still in my mid 30s get nauseous when I smell licorice 🤢
It looks like they were drinking ouzo. Strong stuff. :D I loved this move and just recently watched 2, so excited for 3 to come out next month. :) In 3, they are going to Greece. Can't wait.
I’ve never had that before!! I may need to try it👀
It has a strong licorice flavor to it. Kind of like Sambuca, but I think stronger. @@MoviesinDepth
I love this movie. It's my 87 year old grandmother's favorite romantic comedy. I have 30 first cousins just on my biological mother's side. She was one of 9 siblings. And her mom was one of 6. Family reunions are huge. At least 400 to 500 people at a park in Kentucky. Also, being 31 and the last of my siblings to be single. I get asked all of the time when I am going to get married. Maybe one day it will happen.
Red white and royal blue was actually a pretty good rom-com. Better than i thought it would be. Of course I didn't read the book so book readers probably have complaints
I might need to watch it!
This is such a good one!! Im actually stoked to see the third one!
I still need to see the 2nd!!
Please please do a reaction to it when you do it's pretty good! 😄
Oh man I love this movie I never get tired of watching this movie. I hope you did the second one too cuz that movie is also amazing
9:01 Funny thing about this is hes the most greek looking out of everyone here lol
Ok now that’s facts
The drink that they were actually getting drunk on is called Ouzo. It's a greek licorice drink. Just looked it up out of curiosity.
It's very tasty, mixed with lemonade or straight
@@heathergarnham9555 would love to try it someday.
Ouzo is not flavoured with licorice but it is flavoured and aromatized by an anise extract. It is very strong thus the greeks ( except alcohol addicts) consume it only with appetizers in the table. If you get drunk from it you will remember the headache for the rest of your life..😊😊
fun fact my boyfriend does speak another language I barely speak and I wanted to learn more to impress his family and he has only taught me how to cuss kinda like what happens to the fiancé in the movie
HAHAHAHA EPIC
You gotta watch the sequel! It's so good!
The fact that this movie beat Sweet Home Alabama (another rom-com) at the box-office around the same time of this movie, is an actual miracle.
Should watch the second one
you should totally rewatch that thing you do for the channel! it’s such a fun movie and i find it so funny that two cast members have been in the diary of a wimpy kid movies as the same character
Yes!! My one of my FAVORITE film series! ❤ This first movie is so wholesome. Thank you for the reaction. ❤😊
I have a favorite scene to go with my favorite lines if you don't mind me saying? 😂
Its when Ian meets the family at the restaurant and he meets Aunt Vula and she says "Ian, let me touch your hair." And he let's her and she's all smitten.😂 That line "And he don't eat no meat?!" 😂 I LOVE Aunt Vula! Favorite character!❤
YES. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE DONT EAT NO MEAT
@@MoviesinDepth 😂 😂 😂 Yes! That part! 😂
Love this movie! It’s so fun.
I actually thought the family in this were Jewish when I was a kid 😂. Because I had never heard of Greek school, but I did know about Hebrew school. And I didn’t know why her Christian boyfriend would need to be baptized if she was also Christian, so I thought it was Jewish baptism
It’s crazy what’s all around us!!
Also, I saw this movie in theaters purely cause Joey Fatone from*NSYNC is in it as Angelo, no regrets lol.
my favorite quote is the same as yours! me and my best friend quote that line alll the freaking time! WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE DON'T EAT NO MEAT?! ...it's ok, I make lamb 🤣🤣🤣
as your friendly local trilingual (4 if you count a dialect and more if you count just certifications), i can confirm that i mess with people all the time
That is EVERYTHING
@@MoviesinDepth also a good way to get telemarketers to never call you ever again. pick up and just start speaking in another language very quickly until they hang up
Best line: “don’t worry. I make lamb”
I absolutely loved Nick and still do
To Be honest it's been so many years since I've seen this movie I kind of forgotten certain parts, but it is funny.
It has so much comedy gold in it!
MID's laughing when the family dynamic and the wedding probably triggered PTSD in him
The accuracy of this is scary
Thank you it is my favourite movie as a lebanese 🇱🇧 American 🇺🇸 I relate to this movie and being an imgrant growing up in california so true Greeks 🇬🇷 and lebanese people are the same culture ! Watch the second movie !🥁🇬🇷🇺🇸
Thea Voula is my IDOL
I make you lamb
Can you watch The Sweetest Thing? Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, and Selma Blair star in it, and its one I've rewatched many times recently 🤣
👀👀👀
13:47 you can't even pronounce my name right how do you expect to get theirs 😂
TAYLOR
Aunt Voula is Ishka aka Moogie from Star Trek DS9!
I still need to check out Star Trek!!
Toula's family might just be bigger than the family Madrigal lmfao
It IS
You know, MID, I loved being ignored in the comments section of your Across the Spider-Verse reaction
👀👀
Oh I love this movie!😋
It’s so good!!!
@@MoviesinDepth it’s such a feel good movie!
And I didn’t know there was going to be a third one so now I’m really excited about that
I've watched this with my Class, during Softmore year. This movie, was great. Especially the ending
YESSSS
I didn't know there were sequels!
Right?? I had no idea either!
Toula gave herself the makeover
She did! And it was epic!
Crazy that they have made 3 of these movies.
That is NUTS to me. Still haven’t seen either sequel
Weddings in Lebanon 🇱🇧 are even crazier !
Please do My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, Paw Patrol: The Movie, Little Shop of Horrors, Clifford the Big Red Dog (the live-action one from 2021), and more Glee (I recommend Preggers, Regionals, Never Been Kissed, Big Brother, Puppet Master, Previously Unaired Christmas, and Glee, Actually)
O👏K👏LETS👏GO about to put this on repeat for 2 hours
WOOOOOOO. LETS GO
Any time my mother and I discuss any aspect of being an adult she always quotes “why you want to leave me?!?” In turn I say the same thing to my bunnies any time they ignore me
MID keep up the good work and Love from H-Town and I appreciate you giving me hope
Thank you!!
@@MoviesinDepth Your Welcome and MID I appreciate you giving me hope there is special someone for me
I don’t know what my favorite line is but I’m still making windex jokes decades later
My favorite line is, "Hey Ian! We're gonna kill ya!" Lol
Those drinks 🥛🍸are called arak in Lebanon 🇱🇧 and it is 100% alcohol !
the neck punch did it for me!!
Ngl when I brought my now fiance home to meet the family (the whole family, think toula's family) they also had jokes about not expecting me to have someone 🤣 I would've been offended... if I didn't agree with them lmao😂
As an Armenian this is the most relatable movie ever😂❤❤
The second one is so good as well.
DRY LIKE TOAST WITH NO BUTTER 😂
The grandmother is hands down my favourite character she would probably stab you then realize you were ok patch you up and feed ya, all in about an hour
She’s so GREAT
My favorite line is the every word is greek. Favorite scene is when Ian gets beaten by the old lady.
7:26 i have 13 first cousins. That is on one side of my family.
That’s is AMAZING
As a Greek, I remember liking the movie but also being super anxious that people would think that all Greeks are like that. It’s based on truths just suuuuper exaggerated.
You thought meeting your girlfriend's parents was bad? Inter-cultural weddings are even more chaotic
Ohhhhh good god
Omg omg omg!!! One of my top 5 ❤❤❤❤
It’s so much fun!!!
The “I have 3 testicles” line but in Greek that I can’t spell lol
I love this movie
It’s such a classic!
What? What you mean? I run the restaurant, I cook, I clean, I wash for you and I raise three kids AND I teach Sunday school, you know…it’s lucky for me I have you to tie my shoes
The premonition scene was like 90% real action stunts
Also fun fact people who are greek 🇬🇷 or arab or more specifically lebanese 🇱🇧 live with their parents till they get married !
7:33 That's similar to me. I have a lot of cousins on my mother's family side. She has a lot of siblings
I’m just not blessed when it comes to siblings/cousins 😂
Yesssss my favorite wedding movie
It’s so GOOD
I live in Chicago! Speaking of Chicago, can you please do a reaction to the movie Chicago? It’s a musical which is right up your alley! 😁
10:22 Did you even pay attention in Physics 😂
NO
This definitely in my top 5 rom coms
This was so good ❤
Thank you!!!
To think the female lead also wrote this......
It's like when they let the Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul actors direct some episodes
That’s crazyyyy
Being Greek, I always felt that this movie was funny for the Greeks in other countries, like the U.S., Australia, Canada, etc. It's very relatable. Probably not as relatable to Greeks from Greece though.
I love THAT
You avoid dates in areas where people from your culture are around everyone knows everybody and your family ! So for that you avoid locations that they go so your parents don't know you date !
I grew up with 27 first cousins.
🤯🤯🤯
Please finish heartstoppers season 2!! I want to see your reactions!!
