Let's say you're mid and see botlane being pushed in constantly. You tell yourself to push in mid asap and roam bot (perhaps with your jungle). Let's assume top lane tp's are down and you win bot in a easy 4v2, getting dragon afterwards But then you look back at mid, you see their mid and jungle getting your tower. Yes you won bot and yes you have dragon. However, getting mid outer opens up the map for the enemy. What went wrong here and how do you prevent such scenario? Because this happens quite often actually
I find reactive mindset to be the most useful. Its not about the snap decision though sometimes it is. Often I see "proactive" players make bad plays because they aren't reacting to the enemy team. For example: taking dragon after a fight as opposed to reacting to a push bot lane that may loose them an inhibitor. The proactive mindset is what you need to have when you are ahead and what you want to strive for. That puts you on the initiative and gives you an advantage. However, reacting properly is important at all times. I've seen many a game lost because a the winning team had one bad team fight and it was because the losing team reacted in a proper manner. Being a reactive player is harder. You have to take in more information it requires you being aware of your team, who you also react to, the enemy, objectives, and the map as a whole. Being proactive is easier but also important, having a plan makes your play more efficient. Often my proactive plays are based on what I see the opponent doing. IE. Their jungler died top and enemy bot lane is backing. Lets Dragon and then see if there is any goodies in the enemy jungle then maybe gank the mid lane. Ganking in of itself is a reactive play. Also some of the best proactive plays are reactive in nature. AKA "ambushing". The important thing to take away IMO is not to be stuck in one gear. A proactive player who cant react is like a horse with blinders. A reactive player who is never proactive is like swimming up river. If you can use both you will go far. My humble opinion. Take it how you will.
This video helped me a lot since my biggest problem and where I struggle against other dia players is decission making and being active, just not standing still ; definitly a nice video. Keep up the good work, you are great
To the people naysaying Scrap because he's Silver, keep in mind that Rivington (The LCS Commentator) is also Silver. Having knowledge of what to do is independent of being able to perform it.
got plat 5 and saw that i couldnt get better ranks with current skill at that time, after seeing some of your vids i feel and play like at least twice as good as before. ty for that and continue with such great guides
If you can master proactive plays you can basically manipulate the enemy to do what you want them to do, of course for that you not only need ready good vision/clearing the enemy visions, map control(easiest way is to master the way to control lanes),map awareness and know the behavior of your enemies for example low elo player tend to be more bloodthirsty thus most of the low elo players are really easily baited into fights,or you can just make the lane push and bait them with the minion waves there and kill them, since their visions are usually almost 0,and map awareness is low or non existed. And high elo players have a lot of knowledge of the game but you still can use these knowledge against them, the most common way of these is objective baits(baron, dragon),or by baiting them with split push.
I did this without knowing what it was. The new Quinn is like having another teammate if you use her ult properly. You can do about 3x what anyone else on the map can purely because of mobility. It's like having an extra jungler honestly. You can push out the wave, gank bot with ult, recall, and ult back to mid before a lot of midlaners can even fully counterpush the lane.
Yo, I'm Gold II rn and im climbing elo as a lux mid main following what this guy is saying. I just consistently bounce from pbjective to play making to more objectives seemlessly. and by the mid game, my team has a strong objectives advantage over their team just because I was proactive and always chasing whatever I could take feasibly
This is why I love playing Thresh! I can control people! I can save with lantern and lock down anyone. I can hook the enemy jungler in a dragon fight before the smite to save it. I love being the playmaker :D Also I just hit 200k champion points on Thresh! :D :D :D
Hey Scrap. Great video! Although i was expecting something a little different.. I figured that this video would cover map control. I always find myself playing ranked and thinking "What can I do next?" I just don't know sometimes. For instance, i know that in order to win, you need to kill the enemy nexus. Clearly there are obstacles in the way of that, but I know that there has to be some sort of system to strategically take the map and sieze opportunity. I thought you'd be teaching tactics besides the typical 1-3-1 splitpushing / Farming / 5v5 sieging. Maybe *when* to use specific tactics *accordingly*, when to take what tower, *HOW* to take that tower, what tower to go for next, moving the line of vision etc Maybe consider it in a future video? I hope you read this comment. Thank you so much for the knowledge. I can't wait for more! ~ Aaron
The thing is here. I agree that being proactive is important. But if you play matchup where u constantly get shoved in and cant really fight back even tho its even kills and so on looking for roams is not an option. So you basically just need to sit back and farm and hope the jungler showes up so you dont fall too far behind.
And what the hell was the last sentence in proactive...yes without risk there is no reward. But if u take a risk without information you may end up getting ganked at that moment. You die and all of a sudden u are behind because you took an unnnecessary risk. And that's actually why you are silver. You need to constantly be proactive yes. But you should only take the risks you now you are going to win (which is not a risk anymore).
Question: Does intentionally pushing in the wave into near turret range to give time for a roam work for Top Laners? (I've done this lately with Top Yasuo since I instinctively farm FAR too fast for my MMR)
What do I do if Im so far behind though? Cause if Im behind my damage doesnt seem to be notable and I just die whilst trying to help and further dig the hole.
What about when the opposing laner leaves? I always thought it was good ping the missing player to my team, then to push lane (assuming you warded/are looking out for ganks) and take out the turret. Should I leave lane and go teamfight instead?
So I need to fail cause I do the wrong things proactively, to suceed later even more. Because I can call for the big plays and get fed cause I force the enemy team to do something?
I think I'm okay at being reactive, at least for my level, but... I really don't understand how to be more proactive without losing so much cs that I can't compete with anyone at all if my proactive play fails. I understand that if I take a high risk, high reward play and I'm successful, I don't really miss the cs too much, but I also think that if my opponent is not being proactive either I don't need to take significant risks.
What mindset are you using when you are predicting? Like for exemple you are playing Thresh and you know the enemy will flash to the side over a wall so you throw away your Q over the wall, knowing that they will flash as soon as they see it. Is that proactive or reactive mindset.
if you are low sliver/bronze and trying to climb note that not everyone will know what to do and if you start making the calls just dont do it in a condescending way and honestly just shove the lane and take turrents instead of going other lanes unless u can take turrents together on that lane
I play support and my playstyle is: 1. Kill the enemy laners and b 2. Get red buff for adc 3. Kill the enemy laners again 4. Get dragon and b 5. Kill the enemy laners 3rd time 6. GG 4:0-6:0 bot lane
the discourage of making proactive plays in low elo is imo most of the times not worth since youre most LIKELY to be the ONLY one understanding how to push advantages and playing around the enemy not for example having flash etc.. meaning that the advantage is on the botlanes shoulders, i do however see proactive plays work if the advantage youre creating is for your self to get ahead..

Well there's generally not much to be done for a marksmen besides farming and pressuring enemy laner with harass and try to force them back to minimize the amount of farm they are getting and maximize your own while gaining a level/gold advantage. Keep wards up, be reactive towards your jungler, take the turret when you can, don't let your laner roam for free, react to your own jungler ganks and toplane TP ganks.
if you know your mid lane can push a lane fairly easily. watch them push their lane and communicate with them. Allow your enemy to push thier lane so that your mid, when they roam, have something to gank.
Meh I prefer reactive, being proactive usually means having your team having your team having some sort of set up for me to work with while me possible losing some lane advantage. Reactive is much less riskier while punishing the opponent for mistakes
The only issue I have with the whole video is the part where you say "If you dont do X than LoL isn't for you" ... I've heard that so many times it really rustles my jimmies. Other than that, thank you for the brain food!
thank you for this video. i have a little request: IF possible, can you insert the english subtitles? i'm not english native and is a little difficult understand you when you speak. i don't want force you for this but IF is possible i would be truly grateful. thank you again and i wait your next video ;)
I usually play adc and support. Being in bot lane sucks. It really does. Because adc champs are too squishy, and support champs usually do not have much damage. Adc heavily relies on farming and early game kills. So being in bot lane is always trying to get as much farm and kills possible and not to get killed. Adc does not make proactive decisions because adc is too squishy and always need a support. Whenever I'm getting suppressed by enemies, I can only ping to get help from jungle or mid. If jungler is at top then we have to stay under tower. Everyone is trying to kill adc, it's so easy to kill adc even in late games. Also when adc falls behind, they do damage but not enough to actually kill people. Adc always has to see the position of jungler and mid to make the next move. This is why I'm learning mid and top, I'm really tired of getting ganked and become really weak in late games. When my jungler is bad, I can lose my bot tower in first 10 minutes.
That's probably a personal issue. If a jungler is hard camping your bot lane, it's still an opportunity to keep your wards up, play defensively, and keep team informed until either both mid/jungle can come gank and give you some breathing room, your jungle can gank other lanes freely or farm. If you're able to dodge skill shots, your most difficult thing will probably be CSing under tower.
You forgot to say, you shouldn't be proactive if you want to get to late game / the enemy is stronger than you / you don't know where the jungler is, he may gank you / take your tower.
Well u proactively try to make yourself as safe while still protecting objectives. its always good to have a plan for whats next but the same time be ready to react and never be afraid to change that plan.
Come onto the stream, after years of not playing ranked i'm beginning to go for a grind this summer. From silver to gold 2 in around ~4 days or a couple of ranked games :)
Yup. It does add some extra respect. I'm diamond 2 and still learn some from scrapcomputer. I always feel like "tell me something I don't know" for most of the youtube "improve at league" community.
I disagree a little with this. When I am "Sitting midlane and farming" I'm try to zone my enemy laner away while keeping tabs on them. I try to build an advantage that way! I know its not ideal, but its my low risk medium reward style of play. Farm is gold that is practically guaranteed! I like the guarantee, over the gamble.
Just farming in lane won't do anything? .... Tell that to Karthus. (Admittedly I ensure i have a tear by lvl 6 so i have the wave clear to push my opponent under turret so I always have the bigger impact on the map, but still, that's relatively easy)
Yes, even though im a low elo support main, you should pressure people/lanes as much as you can and roam mid when bot lane goes somewhere or maybe the jungler ganks top etc. The best thing a support can do is apply pressure on the map in early levels and give kills to adc/mid laner
+Gianluca Granelli No problem, even though I don't usually play support, I like to think about scenarios and possible plays. And thank you for praising my profile pic, my friend edited it for me.
+Vlad Se Caca I am low ELO too, but it doesn't mean we're drool dribbling idiots, we can think as well. It just pains me to see people who decide value by their ELO and refuse to listen to people in lower ELO. I can analyze games very well, I just constantly fail to listen to my own advice.
"...League isn't the game for you right now." What if I just want to play a game to have fun and improve while doing so? Games are made to be fun, right?
I'm not going to lie, I love to hear things like this. League is a game yes, but in its current state its better to consider it as a sport.. (esport but still) You can have fun running scrims in any regular sport, but if you dont like winning, if your not willing to do XYZ to win then dont play that sport outside of regular pick up matches. (Rotating game queue, normals, bots) and if you DO want to improve, you gotta learn that sometimes the steps that are needed to improve aren't fun, but the results make the game so much better than it is now. and if you are willing to go through that boring period, then you're ready for ranked and etc etc. If you want to play the game JUST for fun, stick with bots... i feel like even going to normals ruins people who are trying to get better when they have a scrub thats tiers below them evne though their bronze making things harder for them to improve as is
***** Dude I played 20 games of ranked(my first 20) and I'm now gold V. I don't play to win, I play to have fun. I'm GOLD without trying to win. I really believe I can improve if I take the 'fun' out of the game and play it as a sport. But man... if it's not fun I won't feel like it is a game... so I just play for fun and improve while doing so. I'll leave the 'sport' aspect for the pro-players.
+Pitta Well From my years off playing soccer just because you have to work to get better doesnt mean you wont have fun with the game Sure the conditioning isnt great or the practice But the games become more and more dynamic your skills improve and the challenge is greater That makes things more fun to me
It's all about admitting that you, as well as all players make mistakes and improving on this knowledge. It takes a brave person to admit that they are simply in the wrong :)
"they will sit and farm" which is amazing if you are on a scaling hypercarry like cassio, nasus, kog'maw, ryze, etc etc. i think your adhd style "always looking for something to do" and "always TRY TO WIN" is what loses games. sometimes when you are going even, but u have a twitch on your team, there is absolutely zero reason to force a play. thats exactly what will cause you to lose especially if the play fails. the first part of this video is really ignorant when regarding playing a scaling comp

This is so very helpful. Thanks ScrapComputer!
Nice video!!Make more of these explaining us some good techiques and mechanics we should be using in our playstyle.
Thanks Proctus! I shall try!
Yo, I'm Gold II rn and im climbing elo as a lux mid main following what this guy is saying. This is why I love playing Thresh! I can control people! I can save with lantern and lock down anyone. I can hook the enemy jungler in a dragon fight before the smite to save it. I love being the playmaker :D

Lina Al-Jarallah Sounds cool! Does it work good for you in ranked? What's your elo?
TheTrolledMachine I'm only bronze 2 sadly and he gets banned a lot so I've only had that one ranked game on him
what server? im bronze 3 and i never see him banned

It's propholaxis mindset, thats a really high-evel of decision making. You are reacting to a event that will have happen in the future.

thank you scrap this got my on a whole other level in azir bronz
I play support and my playstyle is:

2. Get red buff for adc
3. Kill the enemy laners again
4. Get dragon and b
5. Kill the enemy laners 3rd time
6. GG 4:0-6:0 bot lane
what should bot do? or how they can react?
holy crap that annie in the first clip put me on tilt for a week

thanks for this im going to show this to all my (bronze) friends
the discourage of making proactive plays in low elo is imo most of the times not worth since youre most LIKELY to be the ONLY one understanding how to push advantages and playing around the enemy not for example having flash etc..

How can you proactively play as a bot lane Marksman? Especially before the enemy bot lane falls.

Well u proactively try to make yourself as safe while still protecting objectives. its always good to have a plan for whats next but the same time be ready to react and never be afraid to change that plan.
"I see this all the time at lower levels" ... Ur silver bro.
Good knowledge poor mechanics, my team is average Dia 3 and has a gold coach. :) tbh scrap is kinda meh though.
+TheLolPoster Deilor doesnt even play Legue but is a really good coach
Come onto the stream, after years of not playing ranked i'm beginning to go for a grind this summer. From silver to gold 2 in around ~4 days or a couple of ranked games :)
lol why are you taking gameplay from EUNE I play against that Cardek every other day, annoying Annie kid
How can I do this as a Support main?
Maybe pressure them if they used summs.
Thanks!
Loving that super kawaii profile pic! '3'
I hate it when I try to play proactively as support buy adc just sits there and farms like I don't exist
or when some people who play support just there stands 6 feet behind you doing nothing but walk round and round
which never happens unless they're straight trolling and admit to it
hey scrap, I hit silver V cause of you. thanks :)
FINNALY
;)
you make good guides :D
Why thank you Alex!
4:20 That kha'zix is such a coward.
The league of legends is chess sentence got me to think better now
very very usefull, thanks
Thanks Zoro!
Who is the boosted monkey playing renekton in this game?
Reworded witha sub, Nice video :)
+Pitta Well
From my years off playing soccer just because you have to work to get better doesnt mean you wont have fun with the game
Sure the conditioning isnt great or the practice
But the games become more and more dynamic your skills improve and the challenge is greater
That makes things more fun to me
actually i do see high level players just sit and farm for a long time lol Dyrus is a prime example of it
Love you
which elo is this ? the loay are kind of bad look like my plays and I am in gold V
hes silver, knows what to do, just can't do it due to poor mechanics
Disclaimer: I agree with everything you say. BUT, would like to point out that this reactive mindset is a paradox.
came here after getting tilted and ended up realising i was in the wrong for blaming my team.
It's all about admitting that you, as well as all players make mistakes and improving on this knowledge. It takes a brave person to admit that they are simply in the wrong :)
What's with that Khazix ganking with no mana all the time? XD
Ekko roaming against an Ezreal/Morg bot lane, report.
2:12 wth fell over?
Coloca legendas em português, porque o serve do Brasil tá foda.
Is it me or does that ahri in the beginning of the video look like Rihanna?
Erm ... kinda? :D
You know why Sons doesn't have 60% win rate? It's because I play her sometimes. I'm sorry, Sons mains. ;_;
Sona* autocorrect, you don't know anything about league? Smh.
wtf lvl 1 maokai at 5mins
how can you be reactive and proactive??????????????????????? my brain
4:45 Maokai WTF
i feel like yours videos sound too professional for my taste; but good job man!!!!
sry but this isnt all right because if you play a Champion like Gangplank you have to farm and you not a good roamer
Good video but needs more art
Then gbay says there is nothing to talk about, what a noob
Wait what? :P
