This seems like a fantastic combination. I'm 5'3" and getting good tension for things like squats and deadlifts is difficult to nearly impossible. I'm definitely going to look into the step and the bar. Thanks!
Try it out. I hope the bands are long enough to provide the tension you need. Might need a couple at a time to make sure they stretch enough with proper tension.
Tip for chest press, tie a knot in the middle of the band to increase tension at the beginning of the movement. It actually works out so that there is a flat side to the knot which you put against your back. A little bit more difficult to get into the movement but well worth it for the more meaningful tension at the beginning.
@@GamerBody you should give it a try. No harder to undo the knot than any other knot you use to anchor a band. Without shortening the band there’s not enough meaningful tension in the first third of the movement.
@@donaldberry4181 I don't ever knot the band when anchoring it as I just loop it through the door anchor I have. I guess if you put it around a pole or something it might be different though.

Yeah I'd say when you are using a lot of resistance the platform is a good idea to avoid all of that force pushing in your ankles. Otherwise it is fine with regular shoes.
Bought one a few minutes ago! This is a must for who train with resistance bands... And looking in the bright side of its lenght, it will increase resistance in the lowest point (or the least resistant point), and this can be great if you do moviments like the band squat, for example (without this bar, the lowest point of my squat is almost resistanceless).
I love it man I just ordered it from amazon such a great pump and a good feeling!!!! I purchased the other accessories to do flys triceps curls I did not know you can use other bands with this.
Thanks for this review and the earlier reviews. Which of the two bands (SunPow vs. UnderSun) do you feel works best with the bar? Great content, keep it up!

I scored a similar setup except I got the bodylastics curl bar and my step came with 4 risers for a similar price you paid altogether. As a 5'2 lady, the risers are helpful in adding more tension. Right off the bat, I have to go down a weight class with my loop bands because I can't even lift the bar to do squats (my chiropractor would be ecstatic about this) but deadlifts, bent over rows, and overhead presses are a breeze and a more enjoyable experience. The width of my bar is longer than the INNSTAR, but thankfully the grip and the curls of the bar keep the bands in place when I bring them inward. For me, it's a weird setup so far, but I'll see where it goes. I was inspired by your setup because I was getting wrist pain from holding the bands, especially with squats and deadlifts and so far it's fulfilling its purpose.
Nice! For the loop band squats, are you doubling the band? I don't and instead just have one loop underneath and the other go through by my hands as I wouldn't be able to stand up otherwise. This is the same for overhead press, biceps, curls, overhead triceps extensions.
@@GamerBody I figured it out eventually haha it also didn't help that I didn't straightened the band either when I was using the step. after days of researching the 3X and X bar and other systems I decided to purchase your set up. I would like to see you actually demonstrate how you set up the bands with the bar and under the platform..im sure it's pretty straightforward but just wondering if you had any pointers etc...thanks!
Nice, detailed, reviews. I decided to use my ezcurl, 5’ and standard’ Olympic bars with bands to get both linear resistance and the resistance offered by gravity through free weights. Takes a few more square feet, but I feel a good burn and am cut like never before at age 60. Pur the bands in the smooth area where the weights go (and you can even add standard weights). Try not to use the knutl weight bar area as it will wear out bands, though I sometimes use cheap but strong bands for the angle not worring how long they last. Same with barbells. I just like to mix it up. But your combination of standard weights/bars and any good variable resistance program works very well and is infinitely can be creative if you know your body and the basic concepts of weight training- whether variable or gravitational. Good job.
I was just thinking i have a curl bar and how i can use the bands to get better isolation on my biceps and triceps, thanks. Woukd be nice if innstar came out with one or maybe some adapters to fit existing curl bars
@Gamerbody This may be old I did not see it in the comments because of how long you’ve had this video up. The triangle rings that you’re using has a nut that can screw up to close the triangle onto the loops of the bar. That way you don’t have to worry about the triangle or the bands coming off while you’re doing exercises are changing positions.
Correct. I dont fully close it, but enough to where the bands can come out of it. If the bands are tight and it lays on the flat side of the triangle, there is no way for it to come out until you allow slack in the bands.
Awesome idea. Will actually order bar, bands and stepper. Could you please post the routine (split, sets, reps) that you do with the equipment in this vid?
a couple of years ago i started using bands in addition with my weights etc.. i made a few bars using wood, steel pipe and pvc... after watching this i may add the plastic plateform and tri angle quick links... i did make a nice wood plateform, but maybe this plastic one is better... thanks for sharing... ps i already have had 3 big bands snap... maybe they are all not of same quality... i really was shocked they broke so soon since they seemed very good... but who knows...thanks for sharing
@@GamerBody these were no name brands... but i think humidity and heat shorter the life...these bands worked great, but maybe latex etc was sub par...i still have a few that are holding up...
Hey there! This review really helped me out. Thank you a lot for that. However, I still have one question. That anatomy picture in the background looks so sick, where can I get it?
Yes, here is a link to the one I have. I bought the frame separately. I also see that displate has them now, so I may look into a large one there as well www.redbubble.com/i/poster/Anatomy-Muscle-Chart-Diagram-by-gohanflex/50814372.E40HW
I use a similar bar sometimes...the brand I use is a “bionic bar”...good gauge steel and it it is collapsible and screws together in the middle with a looooong thread to eliminate snapping ......I use very heavy duty bands.....and yes i added bigger upgraded carabiners......more suitable for rock climbing with snap locks
They have a version with small hooks for tube bands, and the end of the bar does have some space to add tube style as well, but I bought my own for loop bands.
No I have not. However I prefer this bar for the resistance it can support, and that I can use my own bands where gorilla bow has bands only made for it
I'm a huge fan and have bought some of the equipment you recommend. This AMZ set has a 22 inch bar (you said you wanted a 24 inch bar). DASKING Portable Home Gym Resistance Bar Set. I use the 22 inch bar (for curls and over the head) but I also bought a bigger bar for chest press stuff, as the 22 inch bar doesn't cause enough stretch to do chest press properly IMO.
Yeah the force on the bands can be a lot higher. Check out the X3 bar guys force production video on how much the stretch if the bands can do. I just like making sure I'm nowhere near breaking the bar.
That's good! Always make sure it is a weight you can handle well. Keep it slow and controlled and you should be OK. Sucks to get hurt, especially the back.
Eh, could be fine. I personally like the straight bar and I haven't used the EZToned one yet so I cant say too much against it. Squats may be awkward with it.
I prefer something like a traditional weight set with tube bands, get both weight and resistance at once, been building bigger and well defined muscle using that combo.
Thanks for the review. I was holding off until you worked with it for a little while. For the platform I actually bought a wooden cutting board with slightly bigger dimensions than the x3 platform and it works pretty well.
@@GamerBody it's not perfect, since there's not a channel for the band to run through it can rock a little bit. A little wood working would fix the problem but I'm too lazy. Even though it is wider than the X3 platform it still seems a little narrow. I do feel like I'm hitting my quads a bit more during squats because of it, so maybe it's more an issue with my form. But overall it's cheap good solution. I've used It for trap bar style deadlifts with the heavy blue wodfitters band with no issues. Here's a link to the one I grabbed. www.amazon.com/dp/B01MU0C1F5?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I just label them myself and add the next band up. I just call them as: X-small: 10 Small: 20 Medium: 30 Large: 40 X-large: 50 If I use multiple bands, say small and x-large together, I'd track it as 70. That's just how I think of them.
@Randall McNair I am thinking of buying some bands, and this bar and I'm the same height as you but I was worried about being too tall to do certain exercises such as overhead press. Do most bands stretch far enough for guys as tall as us with those exercises?
SUNPOW VS UNDERSUN ? :D and INNSTAR BAR VS HOMEPROGYM BAR both looks cool , but with HOMEPRO i dunno if the have 360 retable loops at the end , but they also offer the great carabiners with them haha :) cool vid my brother ....
Might be a bit uncomfortable, but would work. However, this was meant to have the resistance come from the bands, without additional weight the dumbbells already provide. However, that would be up to you.
@@GamerBody Thanks for responding. I currently have no gloves, no handles and no bar. So was thinking about using an empy dumbbell handle as a band handle. That's what I mean. Do you think gloves are just as good as handles?
Might work. The issue I could see is controlling how the handle is in your hand as it may try and rotate around from one side. That is why I like the J hooks as the bands can sit in the bottom of it easily.
Have you tried the Kobra Tech resistance bands that come with a bar? I saw this one on Amazon and watched a few videos from the seller but haven't seen any youtube reviews on it. Curious on what your thoughts would be on this one.
A question,so I wanna start working out with bands, but my question is,if the band is lets say a 40lbs band, does it start at 40 when pulling,or does it go to 40 when stretched?also my bar I made them from pipe,I did it to my shoulder width, and made attatchements to extended if wanting
I wouldn't focus on the resistance value in bands. Just put a number on it, do the reps you can, and then track that. Here is a video on how I track my resistance bands workouts: ruclips.net/video/Wb91Bia2ShU/видео.html
@@GamerBody well with the 40lbs tubes I got,I can do 15 curls with each arm,and feels tired,I don't workout, but yeah do want to start and thanks,I checked out the video
When you did the chest press, how did you attach it to the door frame? Also in terms of a workout of that vs an actual bench press, do you feel it competes? Not for building mass, but toning and looking fitter?
Toning will come down to muscle and body fat. Nothing "tones" you, it is simply do you have a good amount of muscle so that when you drop fat, you can see the definition. Both, if done properly, will create a toned body by building muscle and reducing fat in time. However, I'd have to give the edge to a regular bench press based on my personal experience. The resistance bands version is an alternative that is a bit cheaper.
@@GamerBody I was thinking if I used this a few times a week and tried to get back into the gym at least once a week. I eat pretty healthy, enjoy a treat now and then but not "fat" by any means, just lost a lot of definition over lock downs and lost a bit of motivation for it now but if I start seeing results again I'll feel more inclined to get into the gym again
If you lost muscle that should come back pretty quickly. Just make sure to continue improving, provide a strong enough stimulus, eat to provide the body the building blocks to repair during rest. It will all come back in time :)
Great review, I'm tempted to purchase the bar to use with my undersun fitness band's, would you say the step is essential to keep some resistance at the bottom of squat's/deadlift's or is it more for comfort of the feet?
No idea what the "real" weight would be in pounds or the max as these are just different products put together. I have used the UnderSun loop bands with the X-Heavy, Heavy, and Medium bands all at once with the deadlift and it is still going strong.
A shorter bar would also change the amount of resistance since the band wouldn’t be stretched as far wide. For clips I started using rock climbing carabiners. They rated for thousands of pounds so I doubt they’ll break anytime soon, and they never fall off.
Question…would you prefer a 22” long bar…or would you rather stick with the 36” long bar? Seems like quite the jump there, but just asking because I’m ready to purchase one. Thanks!
I'd stay with my 38" bar but I wouldnt mind it slightly shorter. I noticed OHP is actually better with the bar being longer, but other exercises it could be around 24" or so an be more comfortable. In the end, 38" has been good.
I personally like the loop bands as they tend to have tougher bands than the tube style. However, if the tube are enough for you, no need for any others.
Standing is simple. If you do an incline you will need something to anchor with which might take some creativity. I don't have shrugs in my current plan, but I did in the past and just did standing.
i wonder if that bar would be useful for banded good mornings, might be worth buying for me just to try it out since i don't yet have a squat stand and though i have weights my good morning weight is too high to just lift up over my head without a stand
Hey man, thanks for the awesome setup. How are you feeling about this set up at this point? Still use it? I have had decent results but find myself stacking lots of bands on the bar to progress in my loading. I have been working with the setup for a few months and have just broken the undersun heavy and also the extra heavy at this point 😫
Wow! That is crazy you broke the heavy band. Right now I have gone back to dumbbells and bodyweight while testing the Nuobells and the bench/pull-up bar I have coming this week. I hope no injuries took place when those bands snapped!
Haha yes it was fine. Was stepping on it with step and just got stuck. Under it. Got the bands 6 months ago and been going pretty hard on them every week. I think they just have somewhat of a short lifespan if you are squatting/shoulder pressing with them and maxing them out regularly. Maybe just creates a point of tension at corner under step and starts to Frey. Saw this was a reported issue with x3 system as well. Glad Undersun hooks it up with the lifetime warranty. That’s cool. I will have to check out your videos on dumbbells.
I can. I have to use a couple bands but it works. You can't go all the way to the chest, but you can still have a lot of tension in a decent range of motion for it. (note, this may vary based on your size and arm length).
Hi. This was a very useful review. Do you know anyone who has form hints for exercises like back squats or deadlifts with this bar/band combo. The mechanics are a little different both in terms of the lifts themselves and esp getting under the bar for the back squat....
@@GamerBody So my front squat sucks.... I finally got a front-squat version that works ruclips.net/video/ugtzw5JmAiM/видео.html Basically a zercher squat where you get the bar into the crooks of your arms by doing a small dealdlift, then placing it on your knees.... much better than my attempts at front squats.
Great videos. Do you find the bands better than other gym equipment? Or is it because its compact? Space is not a concern for me, time is, so always looking for the fastest way for muscle gain. I watched your videos and thought I finally had a use for my over engineered Reebok step .... its 40 inches wide, that would not work, would it? Why do you suggest a shorter bar? Thanks
If you can afford more and have the space it may help for variety, but I just stick with the basics. Right now, I do bodyweight, dumbbells', and bands, but if I had room and really wanted to get a lot stronger, I'd add in a barbell as well. I just don't care that much for it at this point in my training and looking at other options as I get older. I think you can make the 40in platform work as this is a 38in bar. Might be a little wide but I think it can work.
Which bands are you using and which one snapped? I had the UnderSun resistance bands (x-small) snap on me a long time ago and they replaced it for free. Always scary though. I'm assuming it wasn't one of the stronger bands - but if it was, that is actually somewhat impressive.
I would primarily use this for squats and deadlifts. I regularly deadlift around 140kg for 5 reps can it give that much resistance? And at the bottom of the lift not as much resistance? Would you use this as a supplement to regular weight training and not a replacement? Thanks bro, I've just never used resistance bands before.
I personally don't like to mix bands and weights. The main reason is the resistance curve. In the end, as long as you get to a point where you muscles are properly stimulated (most likely failure) it won't matter in terms of muscle building, but the strength curve is different between bands and free weights. For the programs I personally make for myself, they are setup as using bands, dumbbells or bodyweight separately. I was looking into a hybrid, but went against it as it also makes my room a giant mess afterwards. Just my 2 cents :)
I got it from Amazon. Here are the links from the video description (affiliate links): ► INNSTAR Bar: amzn.to/3eX5pW8 ► SunPow Resistance Bands: amzn.to/3eUoj00 ► UnderSun Resistance Bands: amzn.to/3d4xx9c ► Quick Links: amzn.to/3mbbTTx ► The Step: amzn.to/33P8j9c
Mostly free weights. I only started testing the bands option back in 2021. I personally prefer the weights, but you can build a decent setup with the bar and bands. Just know the resistance and strength curves don't match up as well as I'd like, but resistance is created by the stretched bands.
Recently switched over to the 2 piece just because. Both work great, but if you travel and want to take it, the 2 piece will be better. Otherwise it doesn't matter (outside of price)
I feel like you can go to Home Depot and get PVC attachments with carabiners and pay a fraction of what that price is on Amazon and have better quality. Mind making a video on that?
While you can, I personally don't care to make a DIY version. Reason being is...I don't want to :) I'm pretty lazy with that sort of thing, so I just look to see what others have already made, but and test it out, and see if it is something I can use, or else trash it. BUT, maybe in the future I want something specific that doesn't exist yet that I will make and turn it into a company. We will see in time.
54.90 looks a steal now, considering the pandemic allowed home-gym equipment companies to ramp up the prices. The UK equivalent of this, called the EZBAR, is around $200!!
Which link is broken for you? I just tested all of them and they all lead to the desired location. Let me know which don't work and I can try getting a new link.
Yes, as long as you provide enough stimulus to adapt. Essentially, anything that challenges the muscles with resistance to a great enough degree will force the body to adapt and get stronger. Remember that you need to properly recover through what you eat and sleep otherwise the workouts won't really matter.
INNSTAR doesn't but there are other similar products that do. I haven't tested them yet, but plan to try some out and see if a little shorter is better.
I own this bar and yes for some exercises I find it too long. Just got another one that is a three piece and you can make it as short as 22 inches which does make a difference for certain exercises. Also got that on on Amazon
Being bent does not make a bar better. Maybe a little more comfortable for some exercises, but worse for others. Example, front squats would be terrible with the Xbar, but biceps curls will be decent.
Easy free alternative: take a dowel & pretend it’s the weight/resistance you want. When Mr. Olympia flex on stage. They have no weights. They flex. You can do the same with movement, flex to the tension you like. Ex: pretend the bar weights 25lbs & curl it. Repeat.
It's variable resistance and those numbers aren't accurate as to what the real weight is (I'd actually call it just resistance or force in this case). Also, the average person does not shrug or dl 200 lbs. You might as a trained individual, but the average person, not a chance.
Anyone else find the framing unsettling? That close to the face and the face itself not being centered but more to the top? Or am I just being autistic? Other than that, i got the information that i was in search of thanks to this vid. Thanks mate.

I will see how it compares to the shorter bar for doing x3 style movements.
@@GamerBody quick update: I recieved the x3 clone bar today. It is high quality. Rotates beautifully. Silver with knurling like an olympic bar. Looks really nice. The problem is it is simply too short. You made the right decision with the wider bar. For instance, doing overhead press is really uncomfortable. The band rides my arms. Front squats are all but impossible. Ironically, I did front squats with loop bands without a bar last year before I even heard of x3. Also, the narrowness of the bar means there is virtually no resistance from the band on chest press except for the last few inches. I'm bummed, but it just doesn't fit me. I'm ordering the innstar bar the separates into two parts because I want to travel with it. Thanks for the review.
@@GamerBody so, I've had an opportunity to work with the bar. It's exceeded my expectations by a long shot. It feels perfectly solid. In the photos the connectors for the bars don't look impressive. In person it is robust. It also comes with a little soft cap to keep on the threaded male bar to protect the threads when the bar is separated. Nice touch. My primary concern was the bar's ability to handle the heaviest bands for deadlifts. I doubt that will be a problem at all. I just coincidentally hurt my back deadlifting in the gym(not my favorite movement because I fall into the low back dominant side because I have long limbs), so I will probably only deadlift with bands from this point out. Overhead press is now a joy compared to my x3 clone bar. Hand placement is now 100 natural. I have to disagree with you on one thing. I think the length of the bar is great. For taller people it makes the movements so much better. Resistance also starts sooner than with a shorter bar for chest press etc. Best part is the ability to travel with it. Two 19 inch bars will fit in a carry-on. It's definitely a keeper.
Nice, the 2 piece may be my next tester. Been loving the bar so far but also looking to make some changes to my programming after this April test regarding HIT (not HIIT) training with it. Should be fun. I'm also starting to fall in favor with the width as well as I get used to it.
You can do overhead triceps extensions, or if you have an anchor on a door or other object, you can do triceps pushdowns. Another option is close-grip chest press.

But your combination of standard weights/bars and any good variable resistance program works very well and is infinitely can be creative if you know your body and the basic concepts of weight training- whether variable or gravitational.
Good job.
Thanks!
Yo can you show us how you set that up? The loss of the gravity resistance really turned me away from getting these.
I may look to make a short of this :)
Take a look at GamerBody.com/training as it is the plan I do now with it.
a couple of years ago i started using bands in addition with my weights etc.. i made a few bars using wood, steel pipe and pvc... after watching this i may add the plastic plateform and tri angle quick links... i did make a nice wood plateform, but maybe this plastic one is better... thanks for sharing... ps i already have had 3 big bands snap... maybe they are all not of same quality... i really was shocked they broke so soon since they seemed very good... but who knows...thanks for sharing
Whoa, 3 snap! What brands were those from?

I use a similar bar sometimes...the brand I use is a “bionic bar”...good gauge steel and it it is collapsible and screws together in the middle with a looooong thread to eliminate snapping ......I use very heavy duty bands.....and yes i added bigger upgraded carabiners......more suitable for rock climbing with snap locks
what carabiners are the ones you use?
@@GamerBody FVW pro 25KN

For that step up box did you just get the cheapest one and not the one with a few layers?
Yeah I got the one that came with the least amount of risers.
Thanks for the review. Does it include the hooks to connect the bands or are those bought separately? Thanks
They have a version with small hooks for tube bands, and the end of the bar does have some space to add tube style as well, but I bought my own for loop bands.

Great review. Just what I was looking for. Did you order the M10 or M12 quick links?
I got the M10 3/8" triangle links.
Thanks for the reply.
Have you tried the Xbar (not the X3 Bar). Torn between the Innstar and Xbar (and Gorilla Bow for that matter).
No I have not. However I prefer this bar for the resistance it can support, and that I can use my own bands where gorilla bow has bands only made for it
Dasking has a 22.44 inch bar you might want to look into since you mentioned you were looking for a shorter bar
Thanks for the suggestion!
Terrific review!!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thanks?
@@GamerBody why the question mark? He left a nice comment
Oh lol probably my fat fingers messing up ;) it should be a !
I'll have to look into them. I've been looking but nothing can support the 800 lbs of force I desire ;)
@@GamerBody You need 800 lbs? I don't get that. Yeah, the DASKING only supports 300 lbs.
Yeah the force on the bands can be a lot higher. Check out the X3 bar guys force production video on how much the stretch if the bands can do. I just like making sure I'm nowhere near breaking the bar.
I have hurt my lower back from a deadlift but it was not severe so it healed pretty quickly and I got back to hardcore workouts again.
That's good! Always make sure it is a weight you can handle well. Keep it slow and controlled and you should be OK. Sucks to get hurt, especially the back.
Had a hardcore day, picking up heavy logs and dragging sleds with over 100lbs in them. I’m training for strongman💪👊
Oh wow, where do you compete?
What do you think of the EzBar from EzToned?
Eh, could be fine. I personally like the straight bar and I haven't used the EZToned one yet so I cant say too much against it. Squats may be awkward with it.
I prefer something like a traditional weight set with tube bands, get both weight and resistance at once, been building bigger and well defined muscle using that combo.
Thanks for the review. I was holding off until you worked with it for a little while. For the platform I actually bought a wooden cutting board with slightly bigger dimensions than the x3 platform and it works pretty well.
Nice! Is it comfortable to stand on the board?
How exactly would you adjust pounds of resistance? Is it like a ballpark of switching bands?
I just label them myself and add the next band up. I just call them as:
X-small: 10
Small: 20
Medium: 30
Large: 40
X-large: 50
If I use multiple bands, say small and x-large together, I'd track it as 70. That's just how I think of them.
It would be cool if the step had a storage function so that if the bar could be broken down, the step box could hold all the gear
Yeah. They are from different companies so they'd have to work together for that to happen. I agree it would be cool though.
Maybe an adjustable bar. Because as a 6’5 person the length is perfect for me, since my wingspan is wider
Yeah it may be perfect for you! Much taller than I am.
@@GamerBody lol, I do have to admit it nice. There not a lot of stuff made with the consideration of anyone over 6'2
@@SaisMoon Yeah that could be tough for sure. I feel like every bench would be too short.
@Randall McNair I am thinking of buying some bands, and this bar and I'm the same height as you but I was worried about being too tall to do certain exercises such as overhead press. Do most bands stretch far enough for guys as tall as us with those exercises?
Yes, I do overhead press right now and it easily supports it and no snapping with SunPow or UnderSun. Just don't double up the band.
I have an UnderSun vs SunPow here: ruclips.net/video/4Mn0Cz0P8eg/видео.html
Ill take a look into the homeprogym bar. Thanks for the recommendation.
Could I just attach a band to my dumbbell handles? Would that work just as well?
I have not but I will take a look.
I bought it to pretext against forces pushing in on my ankles. It is a bonus that it helps pre-stretch the bands though :)
@@GamerBody ok great thanks, may just purchase bar to start with and see how I get on :)
Good idea. If you find you like the bar, then you can add in the platform to help prevent any long term injuries.
you can also make something similar to the step by just getting like a board and sanding it down so it has no sharp parts standing on that
Yup, if you are willing to do the manual worn to get the board all set go for it.
What is the maximum lb weight you can dead lift with that set up?
No idea what the "real" weight would be in pounds or the max as these are just different products put together. I have used the UnderSun loop bands with the X-Heavy, Heavy, and Medium bands all at once with the deadlift and it is still going strong.
does this bar come with anti chafing gel?
No
A shorter bar would also change the amount of resistance since the band wouldn’t be stretched as far wide.
For clips I started using rock climbing carabiners. They rated for thousands of pounds so I doubt they’ll break anytime soon, and they never fall off.
Yeah the only problem is the carabiners dimensions aren't great. I'm looking for the triangle style as those work the best :)
@@GamerBody yea they are a little bigger in length, so I do lose some resistance there. Just means I need to use bigger bands. 😂👍🏼
I have some PVC pipe. I think I’ll drill some holes in it and hook up my existing bands. Good idea
Let me know how that goes!
Is this a regular step or does it have any particular features to use combined with bands?
It's just the standard step platform. Nothing special was made for loop bands, I just found it worked well with them in testing.
@@GamerBody great response and info there my man, thanks!
Which is better resistance band or tube?
I personally like the loop bands as they tend to have tougher bands than the tube style. However, if the tube are enough for you, no need for any others.
Bro, please also Review Clench Fitness Bands...
Thanks ..
Looking into it.
Is there a way to be able to do shrug variations with this bar?
What variations are you looking for. You can certainly do shrugs with it.
@@GamerBody standing, laying on incline
Standing is simple. If you do an incline you will need something to anchor with which might take some creativity. I don't have shrugs in my current plan, but I did in the past and just did standing.
i wonder if that bar would be useful for banded good mornings, might be worth buying for me just to try it out since i don't yet have a squat stand and though i have weights my good morning weight is too high to just lift up over my head without a stand
Hmm could try it and see what you think. If not, returns are just a click away.
@@GamerBody yeah amazon is pretty good with returns, sometimes they even let you keep the item and refund you if the shipping would be too much.
So are the links that come with the INNStar now not good enough that show availabile?
Not for loop bands. They will work for tube style bands that have the carabiners, but if you use the loop bands they will not fit well at all.
Can you bench press with this setup or it’s to long?
I can. I have to use a couple bands but it works. You can't go all the way to the chest, but you can still have a lot of tension in a decent range of motion for it. (note, this may vary based on your size and arm length).
Could you do a review on Xbar, Redgefit, Bodygym 2.0 and Maxpro thanks!
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm currently moving and have some vids in place, but I'll add them as potential options :)
@@GamerBody Thank you for your reply, have a safe move.
Hi. This was a very useful review. Do you know anyone who has form hints for exercises like back squats or deadlifts with this bar/band combo.
The mechanics are a little different both in terms of the lifts themselves and esp getting under the bar for the back squat....
I don't do back squat as it sucks to get out of, I just do from squat and deadlifts (more of a Romanian deadlift but similar)
@@GamerBody So my front squat sucks.... I finally got a front-squat version that works
ruclips.net/video/ugtzw5JmAiM/видео.html
Basically a zercher squat where you get the bar into the crooks of your arms by doing a small dealdlift, then placing it on your knees.... much better than my attempts at front squats.
I snapped a band today with overhead press, Im 6,2 tall, should just forget about this lift with bands?
Which bands are you using and which one snapped? I had the UnderSun resistance bands (x-small) snap on me a long time ago and they replaced it for free. Always scary though. I'm assuming it wasn't one of the stronger bands - but if it was, that is actually somewhat impressive.
@@GamerBody it was a purple amazon basics band, probably the reason. I ordered sunpow bands, not sure if those would resist the overhead press
@@Zaakshadow The sunpow did well for me in my testing. I use UnderSun right now, but I think the SunPow should be fine.
@@GamerBody appreciate your help! Cheers from Gdl Mexico!
Thanks!

How did you build your muscle at home? Is just dumbbells
Mostly free weights. I only started testing the bands option back in 2021. I personally prefer the weights, but you can build a decent setup with the bar and bands. Just know the resistance and strength curves don't match up as well as I'd like, but resistance is created by the stretched bands.
@@GamerBody nice I'm gonna try with 20 kg dumbbells and see how I go.
Can you do squats with that bar , and add more resistance bands?
Yes, I add additional resistance right now to make it have the heaviest band with the #2 band to get more resistance.
@@GamerBody hello , my concern was that if I add more weight with the bands , will it break or bend the bar ?
@@jazm391 so far so good. I've put as high as the heavy + medium band for deadlifts and it hasn't bent or broken.

There are 2 versions. One is a single bar, the other you can "unscrew" it if you need to make it smaller or fit it in a suitcase.
@@GamerBody Okay, which one are you using?

I feel like you can go to Home Depot and get PVC attachments with carabiners and pay a fraction of what that price is on Amazon and have better quality. Mind making a video on that?
While you can, I personally don't care to make a DIY version. Reason being is...I don't want to :)

How much does it weigh man?

Could you build muscle with it?
Yes, as long as you provide enough stimulus to adapt. Essentially, anything that challenges the muscles with resistance to a great enough degree will force the body to adapt and get stronger. Remember that you need to properly recover through what you eat and sleep otherwise the workouts won't really matter.
I don't like tha is too wide, they don't have a shorter version
INNSTAR doesn't but there are other similar products that do. I haven't tested them yet, but plan to try some out and see if a little shorter is better.

i wanted to buy it but i saw a lot of videos people getting smacked in the face by this bar
How? Did the bands snap? I don't know how I could ever do that with the loop bands, especially the stronger ones.
The XBar is better because it's bent like a curl bar and is easier to work with.
Being bent does not make a bar better. Maybe a little more comfortable for some exercises, but worse for others. Example, front squats would be terrible with the Xbar, but biceps curls will be decent.
@@GamerBody You don't know if it is or isn't until you've tried it. Have an open mind. ruclips.net/video/BZPgZUGZecY/видео.html
It's called an easy bar because it's the easiest way of smashing the bedroom door.
Huh? This isn't an easy bar, but it can smash the door if you are not careful.
Easy free alternative: take a dowel & pretend it’s the weight/resistance you want. When Mr. Olympia flex on stage. They have no weights. They flex. You can do the same with movement, flex to the tension you like. Ex: pretend the bar weights 25lbs & curl it. Repeat.
Good luck with that ;)
up to 200 pounds wow, only most people dont shrug or dl or squat 200 or less
It's variable resistance and those numbers aren't accurate as to what the real weight is (I'd actually call it just resistance or force in this case). Also, the average person does not shrug or dl 200 lbs. You might as a trained individual, but the average person, not a chance.
Anyone else find the framing unsettling? That close to the face and the face itself not being centered but more to the top? Or am I just being autistic? Other than that, i got the information that i was in search of thanks to this vid. Thanks mate.

Glad the bar is working great.
I found the one below on Amazon and it looked like the closest thing in terms of construction to the x3 bar.
It cost 110 bucks because the bundled it with a couple of bands and handles. I just wanted the bar, as I already have loop bands up to the big blue one.
www.amazon.com/TESLANG-Resistance-Strength-Training-Equipment/dp/B08SQV5D32/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=x3+bar&qid=1618005501&sr=8-6#aw-udpv3-customer-reviews_feature_div
Btw, I've had bodylastic bands for years and picked up the curl bar last year. I will see how it compares to the shorter bar for doing x3 style movements.
Nice. Yeah this one is basically taking my triangle attachments and adding to the X3 bar. Should work about the same but looks decent.
@@GamerBody quick update:
I recieved the x3 clone bar today.
Nice, let me know your thoughts on the 2 piece bar. I am looking at it as well to compare against my current one.
What about triceps
You can do overhead triceps extensions, or if you have an anchor on a door or other object, you can do triceps pushdowns. Another option is close-grip chest press.
