  • Haiti was the cradle of revolutionary independence, the first Black free nation. It’s also the birthplace of many of Partners In Health’s rebel caregivers, who have dedicated their lives to ensuring everyone-regardless of place of birth or personal income-has access to the right to health.
PIH Co-founder Dr. Paul Farmer and Loune Viaud, who often implemented Paul’s vision, partnered for nearly four decades in Haiti to create a model of care that prioritized the most vulnerable. That same model has since expanded around the globe, helping save the lives of millions of people and inspiring generations of health care professionals in the process.
