  • This smooth talker hails from South Africa, where he dove deep into the musical theater world. He may be best known for his role as the Phantom in several productions of The Phantom of the Opera, including the world tour. He also played Che in the international tour of Evita, and is otherwise just an all around great guy. He and Ramin share a few words of advice for each other before ending on the much anticipated, soon-to-open reimagined version of Phantom coming to Italy this summer.

6:58 he asks Ramin “Why are you blushing?” And that made me think of Ramin’s “Iranian blush” phrase.

I just love Ramin's podcasts. So interesting and informative. Ramin, it sounds as if you have 'turned a corner' and are on the way up again. Great to hear.

Have been secretly listening to this at work. So fascinating, and I for one love the South African directness.

My two favs...well maybe invite Hugh to the party next time. Fingers crossed for Jonathan on Broadway. Ramin don't let anyone tell you you are not a brilliant interviewer. You do seem lighter, glad you made it through the darkness.

I love these podcasts! It's so good to know more about the person behind the actors that we love. ❤ What a dream if Phantom comes back to NY with Ramin in the role. ❤️

This was an excellent collaborative interview. Both gentlemen had a lot to bring to the table in the way of experience, wisdom and insight. I especially liked the commentary regarding what can be problematical "stage door" interactions. Over the years I have worked as "guest liaison" with a wide variety of stage/screen actors and other performers, and I've heard horror stories about what can happen when someone encounters an over-zealous fan (as well as personally defusing a number of unfortunate encounters). I hope people will listen to what you both have said, and take a moment to consider how they can best, and most appropriately show appreciation for the performance *and* performer they meet. Thank you again, gentlemen for an enlightening and enjoyable interview.

41:04 - I LOVE Ricky Gervais. He’s absolutely hysterical and I love his brutal honestly and how he just says exactly what he wants without caring about what people think. Like, his Golden Globes 2020 monologue was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen and he said exactly what everyone was thinking anyways.
