    All roads lead to Rome. All paths of our Judeo-Christian heritage lead to Christ. I knew so many of your stories when I was young, but I hadn't realised how they have become perverted or interwoven or misrepresented! I absolutely must get your book!! Thank you for a delightful video.

      There is no Judeo-Christians. Christian share more in common with Islam than Judaism, regardless of what big media and big academia promotes

    Very interesting to hear that story of St Nicholas from the Western Perspective. I am Eastern Orthodox and St Nicholas was always part of our holy tradition. I remember when on St Nicholas day in 1945 there were a pair of burgundy slippers on the window sill filled with nuts and a mandarin in each slipper. I was 5 years old and have never seen a slipper, walnuts or oranges. I learned that St Nicholas brought them because i was a good little girl. The war was just over in June of 1945. (we lived in Germany at the time)

      @MinnieMouseRice It's a an Eastern Orthodox Tradition because St Nicholas was a real person and participated in Universal Council of Churches before the West decided in 1054 to be on their own. The East had 4 Patriarchs and the West had 1, the Pope of Rome.

    I enjoyed this immensely!!!! I so much want to grasp more church history. I have never been able to get upset about Christmas customs except for drinking and gross materialism. I think the decorations glorify God. Candles, lights, songs By bringing light, good will between people. Generosity. I know many people think Christ was born anywhere from spring to fall but I am just glad He came. Celebrating at the same time of the longest night and Hanukkah is meaningful for me anyway. Because He really is the light of the world . And Saint Nicholas was a real Christian

    • @theresap3467
      @theresap3467 Год назад +5

      I agree with everything you said. For me the decorations, the lights, the candles, pierce the darkness in the world figuratively, and literally, and are symbolic of Christ piercing the darkness in our world. I love Christmas, because for one day people from all over the world stop, almost as if suspended, and worship the advent of God himself on Earth. There is such a Holy atmosphere.
      And if that wasn't enough, it is the Best time of all to share Christ with others. Even amidst the hustle and bustle and excessive materialism that plagues our society, people seem to have an open ear and perhaps an open heart to the things of Christ. Blessings!🌟🎄🌟

    • @TheSwissHillbilly
      @TheSwissHillbilly Год назад +11

      All of the Xmas symbols are pagan to the core. "But, I'm using them for good, to worship God!" However, it's God's opinion that matters. A whitewashed abomination is still an abomination to God. He said, "...do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.’ “You shall not worship the LORD your God in that way; for every abomination to the LORD which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods. “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it. Deut 12:30-32

      @@TheSwissHillbilly,
      People love the lie. They don't care if they offend the Creator. God wants clean and truthful worship. Use of Santa, a tree, Holly, yule log, all have pagan origin and are elevated above The Grand Creator, Yahweh,. Jesus did not, as all Hebrews, did not celebrate birthdays. The world is full of distractions........

      God made holly, evergreen trees, and the winter solstice. God can be seen through His creation and worshipping Him because His glory is revealed in His creation is right! It is right to learn about this and turn away from worshipping the created thing, and instead, recognize Him through His lovely creation. All glory be to God.! Read Romans!

    Around minute 28:00 “September 23 is celebrated as the conception of John the Baptist.” And talks about likely time of the birth of Jesus. 👑
    This video was amazing! Answers I’ve been praying and searching for. “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter and the glory of kings to search it out.” Btw my wedding anniversary is September 23, 2012. 😊

      There are scholars who say there was the Bethlehem star conjunction that happened April 17, but maybe that marked his conception date (March 25 in Gregorian calendar) as the Jewish calendar goes by the moon and falls on different dates of our calendar every year. Or maybe at marked some other important event about Jesus.

    Its worse than just being secularized Christmas. The church itself has denigrated these traditions of using objects found in nature to proclaim Christ, and falsely claimed they are pagan. Lying about our traditions and denying Christ in the church is NEVER an appropriate response to secularism.

    Except I've slept overnight in the Sahara ( similar latitude) and there's ice on the blankets overnight, so it is cold.
