It's the very reason why right after the "Witcher? WITCHER!" guy, camera moved for a second to the father moving his head down so showing he's guilty of hiring the witcher. Before that the father said it was his only choice, kissing her forehead and reading his letter to the daughter. All that should point out he was forced by other people and tried to stop that with a witcher so they wouldn't know it's him against them because he knew the moment they knew it they will kill his daughter and so they did. You can be sure Cirilla killed these killers, especially the loud one. This trailer is intended to reference Witcher 3 first cinematic trailer.
I really enjoy Witcher and other stories that tap into less commonly known mythology and folklore. There's so many awesome stories and creations out there that are underappreciated!
@@emmzyplays I actually just recently got them, and about to get started. I was pulled in initially by the Witcher 3 game years ago, but I follow a lot of authors, and just hadn't gotten to Sapkowski yet, but looking forward to it. I love worlds that have rich lore like his!
In the books Ciri claims for herself the medallion with the cat...but since Cat School witchers are not exactly....well reputable (many of them being psychotic killers, many turning to become hired assassins, spies, reverting to robbery and that sort of thing) so the Cat school sign would be probably not well received..and the general reputation of the witchers fell due to the actions of the Cat witchers...so a lynx might be something of an attempt at reworking the medallion...or sing of some entirely new school....the games invent a lot that were never even hinted at in the books :). And yeah it seems she really undergoes the Trial of the Grasses and mutation process...or something similar to have those eyes and so on.Though I thinking that she must have done it without Geralt's or Yennefer's knowing because otherwise they would be fervently opposed to that due to high risk involved....:) the trials in most cases end up in deaths and survival rate is low....3 out of 10 survive...but again...Ciri is the Child of Destiny....she might be so special she would always survive the trials....though as the witchers in books believed a true child of destiny would not even require them :). Though one thing....her having a witcher eyes...shame of her natural emerald green ones ;)...eyes of Lara Dorren hehe.
Games and trailers like this prove gamers arent racist bigoted patriarchs. Love all the girls reactions to them getting a badass female protag and all the bros are hyped AF as well. Full on dude bro here and i LOVE THIS. Girl power done RIGHT
5:54 "save the village" -the monster said like what the Sacrificial woman said and when the monster is slain by Ciri, the girl died too. Like the monster and the sacrificial girl was one! Did you notice that???
You're high. The monster was mimicking voices it had heard previously. Something very common in these kinds of stories. The villager with the overcoat killed her. They had nothing to do with each other. Notice that the damn thing had like five different voices it was speaking with
A new kind of Hag is a fair guess. I was thinking Troll due to the head but I reckon its something new from a region the game hasn't played in before. It could even be one of the many monster hybrids created by those mad magicians
if you love story like Witcher with a man/women going around hunting monsters then i recommend you to read Berserk manga. where the main character going around hunting Demons in the name of Apostles. suck a good story.
The father paid the witcher to save his daughter, he was beaten by the other villagers when he tried to defend her and that’s why he was crying? Why would he cry if he wanted her dead?
@@emmzyplaysYep, more specifically, the asshole that was loud and trying to justify the thing. The knife in the woman's chest was at his belt during the first interaction. Also and when that murderer asked who paid the witcher, the father looked away/ashamed: he had no choice but to give to traditions as the probable leader of the place, but paid Ciri to save her still.
I love them all and I think Baptism of Fire is the best. Everyone knows the game but not everyone knows the books. Think how much your content would gain in value for the upcoming W4. You can also find audiobooks even here on yt. Cheers from witcher's homeland 😁
They better have a good explanation on how did she go through the trials. The trials are given to children in order for them to mutate while growing up the mutations don't happen overnight, she's already an adult so how? And please please CDPR don't make her into a Mary Sue.
It is not that hard to explain. Her connection to the elder blood makes any of that possible. The only reason they stopped experimenting on women is because they all died early on, but she has the elder blood. Plus we've seen multiple times where original mutations were altered/changed and/or used by people in previous games. The Cat School is well known for doing this in general (screwing around with mutations). Moreau did further alternations in Blood and Wine, and Yennifer herself was the first mage to complete the Trial of Grasses, and so she probably took Alzur's mutations experimenting and altering them further. We always knew Geralt's story ended with 3. Ciri was always going to take over for Witcher 4, it's just the obvious progression, and I'm sure like Ciri played a smaller but pivotal role previously, that's likely Geralt's role this time. i just hope they do the transition well (and like you said, don't turn her into a Mary Sue). Though the way she struggled with the beast in the cinematic leaves me hopeful, as she wasn't shown as ridiculously OP, just badass.
@@darkwyve Yes but I was not expecting her to have mutations, I was expecting a time travelling sword fighter. That said I got the Empress ending i feel like that's the best ending but that's just my opinion, I will never forget it I ugly cried the whole time.
@@cheremiegerundio8624 Most would assume that must not be the canon ending due to this, but forget that witchers (and those with elder blood) live a long time. There's always the possibility that occurred, and decades later then passes the mantle to another. Would also allow for decades of experimentation on those mutations by Yennifer and others, allowing for new variations on mutations and such too. Lots they can do with the lore, and I'm interested and at least hopeful for a good direction. I have a feeling we are still many years off before we have anything more than speculation though and I'm okay with that, because unlike tons of other people, I don't build a magical version of something in my head, just so I can be disappointed when it comes out and isn't exactly that. I'll remain open minded.
Read "A question of price". Geralt says it straight-up: to vecome a witcher, one must be born in the shadow of destiny. It is literally Ciri's destiny to be a witcher. Geralt invoked the Law of Surprise, and destiny pointed to Ciri. Twice. Her surviving the trial of the grasses was a foregone conclusion. Plus, the lore doesn't say that women can't be witchers. On the contrary - the old Polish tv series features female witchers, and Sapkowski okayed it. The tabletop rpg released at the same time (in 2001) mentions School of the Cat training the occasional female.
@@cheremiegerundio8624 I think we'll find that the Elder Blood magic is gone (due to stopping the white frost?) and that maybe she needed to undergo the mutations to actually be legit as a witcher (reflexes and such), plus whatever sorcery/ magic she learned with Yen's help.
The father is the one who payed for Ciri to slay the montser. Which is why is face was bloody bc he tried to stop them from killing his daughter.

She has Witcher eyes, so it seems so.
