Also, just before Ciri says "there are no gods here. Only Monsters" and walks towards the real monsters, you can see, he's no longer wearing that knife.
Fyi - the voices during the fight are the maiden and the villagers, talking about how their sacrifice ritual works and how the girl wasn't supposed to come back. Which is why they killed her. Although her story is meant to be a direct parallel to Ciri - both a sacrifice to others' goals. And the monster telling Ciri that she cannot change fate is also a double meaning - the girl still dies, and it's taunting her that she also cannot change her own fate, even by rejecting it to become a Witcher.
@KagericPlays Also the symbolism of her binding herself in chains to trap the monster. Lots of little references scattered throughout the whole trailer.
Tell me if I'm crazy, 3:58 just before Ciri touches the girl's shoulder, we hear her teleport sound. So Ciri can still teleport if she wants to. Maybe?
CDPR made some statement. She indeed undergo mutation and she's a full Witcher now. But, she doe not fallow the witchers code, she makes her own code based on players decisions. So yea she might start her own school. and I think that's super cool each player will have different code, just like in real life we have different morals . . . What a great storytelling that will be
I'm so stoked for Ciri. I hope we get to use some of her Elder Blood powers still or even build entirely into the Elder blood. Kind of like Geralt could with signs. There is so much here they could explore. Like maybe visiting Corvo Bianco to see Yen and Geralt. I want to jump back into the world of Witcher soon haha
Doubt Ciri still has EB powers, or she would have used them in the fight. She’s undergone the Trial of Grasses and it seems pretty likely that the mutations could interfere with a genetic ability like the EB. She may have even done it for that purpose, to stop kings and emperors from hunting her down for her bloodline.
@ I thought her pulling the water before unleashing the electrical storm was a use of it I could be mistaking that for something else. But that would make sense since she is mutating.
@@TheGamefreak612 Nope, a dev basically confirmed that she will have Witcher powers and powers from being a Source (magic user) and makes no mention of the Elder Blood at all. Ciri was a Source in the books and trained a bit under Yen (fairly sure that's why Ciri carries a wand on her default outfit in TW3). Funnily enough, Yen's sort of signature magical attack is lightning (like fire for Triss) so I'm guessing Ciri learned the lightning trick from Yen!
It'll be so interesting to see what they do with that for sure!! But yeah, it does look more like she isn't using EB. I'm so curious to learn exactly what happened there!
You are correct that her comments about monsters is similar to something Geralt would say, feels like a direct call back to the "Killing Monsters" trailer for TW3. There was even a moment during a quest where Lambert gives Geralt a hard time about saying such a thing. I am super curious about Ciri having gone through the Trials as well. Just need to contain the hype haha.
Yes!! It reminded me a lot of that trailer!! Gosh, CDPR really do make great trailers, don't they? Haha also no need to contain the hype. We love to see it!!
Awesome job @kageric ! I'm so stoked with that reaction. Was that Cat potion? (see in the dark). The Bulgarian folk music and crazy harmonies, the chain weapon and finally, is Ciri gonna go full beserk on those men. Her own 'Butcher of Blaviken' moment? I'm looking forward to seeing u play this on TWITCH matey ;)
As for Lynx's school, already, I explain. Well, as we know Ciri in the saga as well as W3 wore the medallion of the Cat's school - I won't spoil why, but Ciri is an alumna of the Wolf's school. So from the combination of cat and wolf we have Lynx.
Actually, if you subscribe to the article in the Fanon wiki, it makes sense that Ciri would be from the School of the Lynx. An offshoot of School of the Cat, reformed and spearheaded by Lambert, one of Ciri's former Wolf School mates, and with Kierra as its house mage, It makes sense that she would seek out that school for her Trial of the Grasses, as no doubt Geralt would not sanction her taking the trials and putting her life in jeopardy. It makes sense that she would approach an established school, and what better than one guided by her friends. Also, the Lynx style would fit better for a smaller bodied Witcher as it focuses on speed, agility and countering more than the Wolf, or Griffin. She also appears to wearing Cat style armor, which again it more in tune with the Lynx fighting style.
@@croakingtoad4472 The monster shown in the trailer is Bauk, it comes from Yugoslav mythology (Europe) .The monster is able to sense fear, manipulate the mind and paralyze fear, making the victim an easy target. Despite its heaviness and strength, it is also agile. It can use any surface to move. For this one you can see how he fights the monster .without losing the power from the old blood
@@jkmspediton I try not to lump in the books and the games together as much as others as I see the games as an extension and not a direct sequel. The games break with a fair amount of lore so instead of comparing the dev's lore to Sapkowski's lore, I prefer to compare the dev's current game to their previous ones for consistency and the books to the books for their consistency. That's a personal choice and interpretation of mine and I do not expect everyone else to follow suit. From what the preview has shown us, Ciri has passed some version of the Trial of the Grasses (can take potions, eye mutations, uses basic Witcher signs, etc) but still has some abilities based on her eldar blood (teleportation) and some elements of basic sorcery possibly taught to her by Yen, Triss and/or Kierra, like the basic elemental magic we see her use when pinned to the wall, and using a different sort of Igni on her chain. Overall, I like what I see and will definitely add this game to my must play list. After over 1000 hours into game three alone, what's another few hundred hours. LOL
Not of the Cat - CDPR already confirmed, that Ciri's medallion is of a new School of the Lynx, that will be introduced in the game. She did have a Cat Medallion in the past, but this one is not it.
Witcher 3 is my favourite game of all time, and Ciri’s my favourite character in the game so I’m happy that she’s the lead, wondering what made her decide to undergo the Trial of the Grasses, because she hadn’t last time we saw her.
Ciri is a child of elder blood, elven blood. Ciri possesses extraordinary magical abilities that are beyond the power of the most powerful sorcerers and witchers. Her elven ancestors were selectively interbred with powerful elves, and then human wizards continued the work. Therefore, Ciri is much more than an ordinary witcher.
Geez, I'm so used to seeing Kageric in her glasses, I almost didn't recognize the thumbnail! 🥺👏🏽 Can't wait to see her in her Witcher cosplay like in the trailer 🎉🤔
Can't wait to see what the lynx school has to offer. I just prey dei leaves this one alone. Assurances by the devs to stay true to core witcher lore while still exploring new possibilities makes me happy. Geralt would be proud.
So Ciri is a mutant now. She has "cat eyes" and she can drink witcher potions now. And she also should be sterile. Her elder blood was always liike a curse for her. Someone always wanted to use her because of it or she's been on the run for years. So my guess is - she decided to end this by trial of the grasses. I love that she's using magic now. CDPR shown this exactly how it worked in books. You find some "magic place", you draw energy from it and then you can zap lightnings and stuff.
Gotcha, I'm still considering playing the original because I love the charm that older games have, but I guess if the remake comes out before I get around to it then I'd play that!
I liked it, but it's very much like playing the first two Baldur's Gate games. There's a lot of imagination required to form an emotional connection that in modern games is often replaced by graphical fidelity.
Awesome and honest reaction! I can't wait to play this. Ciri is so badass and looks awesome. And i'm happy for all you "witches" out there that we'll have a female protagonist in Witcher IV. And i laugh at the few misogyist idiots that cry about that on the internet like babies or about ciris looks. These dudes are ridicolous.
Thank you so much!! I'm really excited to play this as well!! Haha I think there's always going to be people out there who aren't happy but we won't let them change our own enjoyment of the stuff we love!
The original Witcher 1 isn't really worth playing in 2024 to be honest so I was just wait until they did the remake but I would love to see you do a playthrough of The Witcher 2 which I haven't still get to play myself can't find it anywhere for Xbox but Witcher 3 would love to see you do to play through what types of armor from which school do you like the best and what type of Build do you do
Yeah, it was also very clear to me at the very beginning when they released the image of the medallion. But somehow over time, the notion that it could be a prequel adopting a cyberpunk'esque style of storytelling where you could create your own witcher in parts took over. Mainly pushed by hopes of absolute lore fanatics like xLetalis who could not fathom the idea that the future simply is lore not yet written :-) It feels incredible powerful to be versed in every detail of the lore, but it also narrows ones horizon. Well, Sapkowski himself already took away Ciris powers, magic could dissipate over time, Ciri could've lost her powers fighting the white frost. Ciri's teleportation powers could become unstable as magic becomes more unstable and localized in the world. And even though Ciri already was powerful, she was always more brittle than an Witcher. What's the best dash-teleport-body-explosion spell when a single swing from a griffin tears that frail body apart. Ok, too much text. All I wanted to say is, let's see what they come up with :-) The possibilities are endless, and riding stoic on history and past lore might not provide the answers :-)
No one was clueless. It was never announced just the logical path of things since Geralt's story was done. Everyone suspected Ciri would be the main protagonist if the witcher 4 was made after the years of witcher 3 or maybe somebody else if it was made for previous times.
I don't think Ciri underwent the trials, she was tutored by the best, Vesemir, Geralt, Yen, Triss, she probably made potions that enhances her abilities, not unlike a witcher potions that can kill a person Edit: but then again, the elven mage Avallach survived the trial from reversing the Uma curse, either way i cannot wait for this game

The monster is called bauk and it's from Serbian mythos. Also, you can see the villlage man carrying a knife at his waist at 3:23.
