- Edited video of our Enduro Day at Also Woods and Laguna Hills. Brian from BKXC hit me up a few months ago when he first started his channel about coming down to SoCal and riding with me. He had less than 100 subscribers at the time, now he has over 30k and growing fast. On day 1 I took him down Mt Wilson with the LA crew and he handled all the trails no problem. On Day 2 I took him to Aliso with the OC crew and the plan was to take him down some mellow trails but after seeing him on 5 Oaks we felt he was ready for Telonics ( which is rated a double black diamond). After Telonics we decided to take him over to Laguna side and ride Art School which is another double black diamond trail (not as fast as Telonics but more tech). After Art School we had to get back to Aliso which required a retarded hike a bike up Stair Steps. We finished the day mashing down Lynx. Such a fun ass day and props to Brian for hitting every trail.
Riders:
Tommy (Intense T275), Brian (BKXC) (Santa Cruz Bronson), Jason (Santa Cruz Nomad), Zak (Devinci Troy), Darrin (KHS Six Fifty), Iggy (Santa Cruz Nomad), Paul (Giant Trance), Dan (La Pierre Zesty), Sean (Santa Cruz Tall Boy)
Trails ridden: 5 Oaks, Telonics, Art School, Lynx
Nice!! I haven't even looked at my footage yet. What a great day, thanks again for getting it all together!
BKXC for sure Brian, so stoked that you made it down here. I was impressed with your riding, we kept raising the bar and you brought your game, so glad that you got to ride our trails. Look forward to riding with you again on your next trip back to So Cal
BKXC Brian, are you gonna post your pov of this on your channel? That'd be sweet.
BKXC you guys have some the the most astounding footage even with the gimbals it's crazy. You guys inspire me to ride more and in a few months I'm getting either a Scott Genius or a Specialized Stumpjumper, any thoughts on which is better?
DUDE!! With the chest-mounted GoPro, that looks so much sketchier than I know it is! Ahh, brings back memories of good times!
JustViewerFun really? I think the GoPro makes everything look way easier than it really is in real life.
Yeah, two things: camera shaking, and the lower angle provides less visibility ahead.
What a difference in your videos from this to now. Killer that it’s all documented!!
Ps thanks for loosing the bell 👊🤣🤙
Hahahaha thanks 🤘
Sick video! One of my fave places to ride.
Our OC Adventures for sure, definitely the best place to ride in OC
Thanks for the entertainment guys! I was wondering what trails Brian was going to hit once I learned he was in SoCal. Hoping to see him tackle some Whiting Ranch, Holy Jim, San Juan Trail etc.
Jack Stevenson yeah we were thinking about San Juan, but I took him to Mt Wilson which in my opinion is San Juan on steroids. Will have that video up hopefully by tomorrow
Man, you bombed down the Art School like you' d been there before! Thanks for posting.
TJ Tran thanks bro, I have always heard good stuff about Art School but never wanted to make that crazy climb up. It was worth it, definitely going back. It helped following some dope ass riders to see the line cuz those last sections were crazy steep and tech. Zak is a pro so he made it look easy.
If you don't want to pedal up, just drive up and park Coastal Peak Park, Newport Coast. Then ride on Bommer Ridge Trail to Laguna Ridge Trail, official name (or also called T n A) LRT splits into two, on the left is LRT and on the right is the Art School.
TJ Tran sweet thanks!
you killing it ! nice riding ! :) so cool trails !
thank you bro, yeah we are really lucky to have so many dope trails here
Rider and early BKXC subscriber. Commented on some of your vids before too, its good stuff! Watching you guys makes me wish I was young again, not sure my body could handle those HARD hitting trails anymore. Love riding, love my shitty little channel and love watching all these vids :) Keep bombing those trails!
Alyx680 hahaha thanks bro, never too old to ride. Get out there are have fun, that's what mountain biking is all about
Oh I still ride a few times a week, Just can't handle the super gnarly anymore just the gnarly! :)
hell yes, the gnarly is good enough!
Looks like some good GNAR!!! Keep ripping and Live-Life-Loud!!!
Only The Bold Project hahaha thanks bro
damn Tommy you guys are master Rut Riders, sick vid
Bullseye Fowl hahaha thanks bro, yeah super rutted from all that rain
That was some good footage! You pretty much got all the good spots in one video. Next time you ride Art school take the left turn after the decent from bomber Ridge. It has some fun rock drops with tech lines. I would love to ride with you guys some time!
Tyler Knight thanks bro, will do, Art School was fun gonna hit it again soon. For sure send me a PM and I will hit you up next time we ride Aliso
sick video bro. Your commentary is classic hahaha. Nice work down Art School. That's not an easy trail and you cleaned it first try
ignacio maldini thanks bro, yeah Art School a legit trail, especially the steep tech stuff at the bottom, I seriously thought I was gonna eat shit on a few of those sections, luckily I was following some good riders who knew the trail.
shredding man, i hope to ride there someday
jd06 thanks brotha, Aliso Woods is a fun place to ride with tons of trails for all skill levels, you definitely wanna check it out.
From your perspective it doesn't look so bad. Reminds me of Snow summit bike park Turtles trail. From BKXC, it looked intense.
Andrew Nguyen yeah I think it's because Brian wears a gimbal. Everything looks easier on the GoPro, all these trails are definitely way more tech and faster than Turtle at Summit.
Great video man, but if you don't take that bell of your bars or change the audio I won't watch another one.
I'm guessing it's there to make sure that any wildlife knows he is coming. They have mountain lions and shit out there
Oh it's definitely annoying. I'm just glad I don't have to worry about grizzlies and mountain lions out here in PA.
Michael Westermann I ride Mt Wilson alot and it's is mandatory that mountain bikers have bells. its not to scare off cougars it's to warn hikers that we are coming down. Mt Wilson is mostly so single track w tons of exposure, bells is for the safety of hikers and riders.
Michael Westermann for sure bro
good riding ,nice trails I want to go here
Tj Lovin thanks bro, you need to hit up Aliso, super fun and tons of trails, everything from beginner mellow stuff to super gnar gnar trails.
The "big boy" gap on telonics is way easier than it looks I say you go for it when you are feeling up to it.
Evan Smith yeah Zak made it look easy but I haven't grown the balls to hit it yet, maybe if I have some Go Juice I may have liquid courage next time
sick video bro
MTB Savant thanks bro
Great vid! Rippin up those trails as always! Hurt my knee a month ago at Telonics. Damn I cant wait to get back there. Also, its great to see so many MTB channels getting together and helping eachother out. Is Brian going to put up his footage too? It looked like he was recording.
TomitaroO thanks bro, yeah I have had my share of injuries from Telonics, get better soon. Telonics was in great shape, I wanted to jump in a truck and shuttle it 10 more times. Yeah super cool to ride w Brian and have him show case our local trails to all his subscribers
yeah Brian will post up his video in a few days.
Can this trail be done on a xc hardtail?
cybererik1 I am pretty sure a really good rider could ride 5 Oaks and Lynx on a hardtail. However I doubt anyone besides pro level riders would able to ride Telonics or Art School with a hardtail.
Great video, but it needs more cow bell if it wants to compete with BKXC.
Need to get a gimbal....
wish I was there with you guys even though I might bite it Here and there
Joe Tran hahaha if you're not crashing, you're not riding hard enough
MOAR COW BELL!!!!
stu over hahaha yup, gotta let those hikers know when we're coming down
What does grade means?
damian smith grade is the percentage of how steep the trail is (the higher the # the steeper the trail) these are averages, Telonics has a pretty flat 1st half and very steep 2nd half so the average grade is lower than 5 Oaks but it's actually a lot steeper.
I,m 74 still try to ride when I can. I have a grandson we ride beginers trails I like to show him some videos so he can see what he needs to learn. Is there anyway you can tone down the lang. There are plenty of how to videos but have to show him how much fun it actualy is.
walter sparks wow that's so cool you ride with your grandson, I hope to be lucky enough to do that one day. I will do my best with the language but you have to understand I'm just out riding with my friends, when I get excited or about to eat it, words just come out.
Hmm..love to hear your wife's thought about Walter Sparks' comment bro :) Wondering if she made you eat soap after each ride...LOL!!
what's with the bell?
neil maddox I ride Mt. Wilson alot and it's mandatory for mountain bikers to have bells on the bike to warn all the hikers that we are coming down. Mt. Wilson has alot of blind corners and tons of exposure so the bell is for the safety of bikers and hikers. Its not required at Aliso but I'm just used to having it on the bike.
Tommy Huynh yeah, saw a few hikers in your video, over here in the UK most trails are specifically for mtb use so anyone walking along them do so at there own risk. How you get used to the bell tho is beyond me,nice riding🤘
neil maddox wow you guys are lucky, unfortunately all trails here in So Cal are shared between mountain bikers and hikers. There are trails that more hikers tend to be on which we always avoid. I ride with headphones so the bell doesn't bother me. Thanks for watching
Yea, I think you should consider a gimbal..Just a bit hard to watch, but good video nonetheless.
Manny Fonseca thinking about it, kinda sticks out pretty far from the chest, I tend to push my limits and eat shit alot, don't wanna ride more safely worrying about breaking the gimbal in a crash
Pretty sure you went through that wormhole from Contact at 1:45
u probably don't need that bell when u aren't in the front, the sound is annoying for the viewer; looked like a good time & the trails look challenging
Justice bdone I guess I'm just used to riding w a bell especially areas with tons of hikers. But yeah you're right I don't need it as long as some of the other guys have it
why you ride so fast on dangerous trail? You not in a rush to get to the bottom, so why you going so fast?
Alex Pavlov hahaha you sound like my wife
Should of taken car wreck also Brian
Fatt carwreck is fun but Telonics and Art School definitely more gnarly than carwreck.
Except Telonics is an illegal trail. Just saying.
