      You are so wrong, the developer simply increased the scale of the scene a million times and scattered multi-colored hexagons all over it with a script. This can be achieved in any engine that can handle very large numbers. But even here I doubt the logic of this method, because it would have been more reasonable to make a map of normal sizes, but the player’s speed was prohibitively low, a little manipulation with the camera and the same WOW effect only without artifacts on the screen.

    What's interesting about our Universe, we have only mapped a very small part of just the Milky Way. We also know that we can't see most stars, they're either too dim or hidden behind clouds, we only see the brightest that aren't hidden by clouds. I don't remember the exact theoretical number and I'm too lazy to look it up but I believe that they think we can only see about 1/3-1/2 of the Stars that are within our small mapped area that we call 'the local group'. The Universe is boggling huge. This is a nifty game/mod

    This is overwhelmingly easy to do. Idk how so many people are gullible enough to call this the biggest map of all time. None of the galaxies or solar systems are walkable. It’s practically just a void full of JPEGS that aren’t accurate to anything from real life and they branded it as an exact replica.

    • @Spectral_RotD

      @@Spectral_RotD because it’s literally pointless. There’s no actual attention detail, gameplay value, exploration, realism, or anything that makes it impressive. All of the galaxies are copy pasted into a grid, none of them are in correct locations, none are even large enough to be considered something worth looking at. The planets that are rendered aren’t accurate or proper scale and you noclip through them. It claims to be a 1:1 universe. It’s in the title, but it’s a glorified particle effect at best. The hype is undeserved. Any map can be the “biggest of all time” if the amount of data in it is bare minimum

      Did you miss the part where they said 1:1 scale? The player speed isn't just slow, in fact it's actually extremely fast, but the map is so incomprehensibly massive that it seems like you're moving slow. You could even see this at a certain point if you watched the video, when galaxies were flying past him so fast it looked like they were glitching, but at the same time it didn't look like he was moving at all.

    • @IDyn4m1CI
      @IDyn4m1CI 8 месяцев назад +5

      @@0Sirenn Doesn't matter if these "universes" don't even look like the real universe. It's just a repeating pattern of a bunch of jpegs of galaxies close together copied and pasted over and over. I don't see how it is impressive to make an unfathomably large map like this, just for the sake of being unfathomably large. You don't even get a good sense of the speed you're travelling, since source engine works with units, and not even a good reference point for anything. SpaceEngine is much better for this, not only it is infinitely more detailed (you can go into each galaxy and see the individual stars, go into each star and see the planets orbiting it, if there's any, and even land on those planets and explore the landscape), it is much more accurate to how the universe actually looks. And you get a much better sense of scale when you visit Earth, start zooming out until you leave the solar system, then leave the milky way, then leave the local group of galaxies, and each time you speed up you know how much faster you're travelling, you truly get a sense of how unfathomably large the universe is.

      @@IDyn4m1CI Well you just said you "don't see how it is impressive," so obviously you don't really know what you're talking about in regards to this map. @@0Sirenn Not only me, scroll through the comments and you'll see a lot other people find it rather pointless.
