Great video. Great Song. Larry McCray is one of the most underrated blues men out there. I just discovered him about six months ago at a little bar in Fort Collins, CO. What an amazing guitarist and singer. I hope alot more people get to hear him. He is the Blues.
Larry is one of the coolest, down to earth men I have ever met. I have met him a few times now & can call him a friend. My nephew played harp with Larry at a few shows & Larry gave him the name Quickdraw.. If you ever get a chance to see him live, all I can say is... You gotta go !! A large venue or a small club, Larry always gives everything he has..... Very under rated, under appreciated.....He is right up there with the best.....
I know Mr. Haynes wrote this song but this guy made it all right! This is my all time favorite version of this song. Just a little B.B. with a dash of Luther Allison and a pinch of Albert Collins makes for a great recipe.

Why Is'nt this guy not featured on guitar the cover of guitar player and rollin stones mags,he should be given ALOT of media publicity and be out there..OUT THERE!!!,reaching out to people ALL OVER THE WORLD and touching their hearts and soul.He needs to be on the next eric clapton cross roads blues festival.BRILLIANT!

Awesome blues guitarist. Also a great guy. I saw him play in a bar in Colorado. There were only about 10 people there. Very underrated, or just unrecognized. He needs to get more exposure. After the show I talked to him and got my picture with him. One of the truly great blues players.

I had the pleasure of seeing Larry perform in Chicago this past summer at a block party put on by the Crossroads Bar and Grill. This guy sings with more soul and passion than anyone I've seen in the longest time!!
I only saw Larry McCray once (love that RUclips!!) & that was @ a benefit for the late, great Johnny "Clyde" Copeland...@ Tramps in NYC...& I never, ever forgot him!!! You can see why!! Thanks for posting & Mr. McCray please come back to NYC!!!

@frankratter The story I have heard many times is that Greg was not interested in the song so Warren gave it to Larry to record. After he (Greg) heard the McCray version he saw the potental and realized it could be a hit . A year later he relented and recorded it and as they say the rest is history.
Nice version. Was lucky enough to see the Mule play it when they were in Australia earlier this year. Larry does an amazing version of the Stone's Ventilator Blues with Clarence Gatemouth Brown. I recommend anyone who loves the blues to listen to it. It can be found on the tribute album, Paint it Blue.

Thanks for turning me onto this guy. Great set of pipes and great tone. Based on this song and his style, may seem to be the heir apparent to BB, from a vocal and economy of notes standpoint. To the people who prefer this version to the AB version, I can definitely see where you are coming from. Not sure I can make that jump yet, but very close. But to call the AB "arrogant" as a previous poster did, makes no sense. Pee on your '45's, did they?
