Suggestions for a Part 2. I don't necessarily thing the following will actually become sovereign nations in the coming year, but I feel that they are worth at least mentioning.
      1. Bougainville (I know you've talked about it before, but since this is the most likely one in the entire world right now, it is definately worth mentioning in this topic.)
      2. French Polynesia (interesting because the major thing that is the issue with them gaining independence is simply the fact that the government of the islands is taking it's time for it).
      3. Ambazonia and Biafra
      4. Greenland and the Faroe Islands
      5. Republika Srpska and Vojvodina
      6. Barotseland
      7. Székely Land
I also highly suggest that since you are Portuegese, discuss the independence movements in the Azores, Madeira, and any other ones that exist in your country that most people probably aren't aware of.
***I'd also mention the special situations with Somaliland, Transniestra, Catalonia, and the push for a full declaration of independence in Taiwan.
I'd also mention the specific back and forth circumstances for Scotland (or as I like to call it this regard, "Old Caledonia"), New Caledonia, Puerto Rico, and the Murrawarri Republic (Australia), French Guiana, the Canary Islands,
Other areas to note: Khalistan, Palestine, Republics in Russia, status of Northern Ireland, the East African Federation, East Turkestan, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Hawar Islands (Bahrain), Balochistan
^There was supposed to be an independence referendum in the Chuuk Islands in Micronesia in the 2020's, but any updated information about it was difficult to find (at least the last time I checked).

North Yemen was an independent country during the cold war; it was fundamentalist Shia and backwards aligned with the US. You forgot Biafra in Nigeria. Independence movements are currently waging an insurgency against the government there, and separatists have recently arranged an independence referendum, so we could very possibly see Biafra declare independence in 2025, something which they have discussed. As a Frisian, its still weird to me seeing stickers saying "From the Tjonger to the sea, Fryslân will be free" stickers around the province. the Tjonger 'river' being sort of the language border. I know we are culturally different but never really thought or knew about a serious independent movement. Ive heard some claims for the Historic 'Magna Frisia' region, And i think thats what the map in the start tries to show, partly. But i can never see the province of Groningen being part of a Frisian independence movement with the general hate many people there have towards us Frisians and our culture.

As someone from Indonesia, West Papua's independence is going to be difficult because there's still a lot of infighting. Even if they manage to get their independence, it won't become a stable country unless they get the support of another superpower western country supporting them, but that's the thing. If America, Australia, or Europe support West Papua, Indonesia is going to become more pro-China, and that's something that the west doesn't want.
Plus, this may be controversial to say, but I can see Indonesia normalizing its relationship with Israel to gain American support rather than letting West Papua go independent.

In the longer term, we are now looking at the probability of consolidation. Three huge empires: a Chinese one comprising Asia and (possibly) Australasia; a Russian one comprising the old USSR plus most or all of Europe; and an American one comprising the Americas and, maybe, for linguistic reasons, the UK and/or Australasia...the wild cards are Africa and (what will be the last really large more-or-less democracy) India, which I could perhaps see uniting as a fourth empire (and it would be the most democratic of the four).
Sounds dystopian. And it is. But that is where we're headed in the next half century, unless quite a few things change dramatically.

Brasil has very close ties to Russia and China due to BRICS+ so falling under an actual American Empire sounds pretty unlikely to me (Brasil already suffers the consequences of American and European imperialism though, but its tight connections with USA's rivals is helping Brazil out of that a little)

Couple things about west papua - though my words should be taken with many grains of salt
The bird's head peninsula in the north has always been it's own separate province, even west Papua was just Irian Jaya and is usually not included within the west papua indipendance movement. And as I have mentioned, only recently was papua separated into 6 provinces, it was previously one province called Irian Jaya, however it's separation has highlighted that the desire for independence varies regionally, so an independent state would, most likely, not be the entirety of west papua. It's also worth mentioning that the intentions of the new provinces are for being able to better aleviate the problems faced by papuans, however I am no authority on wether or not that may actually come to fruition.
    Terima kasih

That article in the consititution was drafted mainly by TPLF that was ruling the country and Tigray until recently. They had a far better chance to do so in the early 90s same as Eritrea but they decided not to for various reasons, some being: landlocked and entirely surrounded by unfriendly nations, resource limitations namely not enough arable land (especially now that what they call "Western Tigray" is being administered by the Amhara regional government), border disputes with the Amhara and Afar regions in Ethiopia as well as Eritrea and more importantly a seccsionist movement has not been very popular (now might be more than not fresh off the war).

The family tree research my mum has done on both sides of my family all are either Scottish or Irish or other Celtic routes in the British Isles. I also seem to take a tan better than would be expected from a white celt haha, and seem to have a different temperature tolerance too.

I am Dutch, but my father was born in the 60s in Dutch New Guinea. I am not pro-Papua or anything like that. What I do know is that Sukarno hated the Dutch so much, that he also wanted to incorporate Dutch New Guinea into Indonesia. The Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) and Dutch New Guinea (Papua) were two different administrative entities. But Sukarno wanted all the areas that the Dutch had colonized and to continue this under the Republic of Indonesia.
But how come my family is from Dutch New Guinea? That is because my family is mixed race and my other family is Moluccan. After the independence of Indonesia my family was banished and Dutch New Guinea was to become the new country for the Indos (mixed race), Chinese, Moluccans and others. Because the Dutch government did not want to transfer us to the Netherlands. It must also be said that not all regions in the Indonesian archipelago wanted to belong to the Republic of Indonesia, such as the Moluccas and Aceh.
Anyway, eventually Dutch New Guinea was transferred to Indonesia under false pretenses and my family migrated to the Netherlands. Between 1950 and 1963 about 350,000 people migrated from the Indonesian archipelago to the Netherlands. Currently there are 2 million people with an Indonesian background living in the Netherlands.
But if I may give an opinion about West Papua, it is that ethnically, linguistically and culturally it does not belong to Indonesia. But it is part of Indonesia now, so I hope that the Indonesian government can make Papua prosperous in the future.

As someone who lives in Indonesia, it is quite the controversial topic. Whenever we talk about it, it can be difficult or even scary. As there are lots of problems in that island, ranging from prices to even human rights. Recently a large chunk of the trees will be chopped down for palm oil productions, which angered the locals as they have a connection to the forest. A lot of Indonesians oppose the idea of it gaining independence, however there are a few people who began to recognize the issue and start to think differently than what the gov intend to.
This situation is honestly quite messy; I discussed this with a friend not too long ago, they're also torn about this. The independence organization committed several atrocity but also the people in charge are just as corrupt and atrocious. If you ever wondered, was there a point in time where Papua would never be part of Indonesia? There was. The first Vice President of Indonesia, Muhammad Hatta, opposed the idea of incorporating them as part of the republic. As he believed that they're ethnically, linguistically and culturally different than most other ethnic group here. But the rest didn't agree with him as they want to unite the entire Dutch East Indies to be succeeded as Indonesia.
I wish I could talk about this more honestly, it's an anxious convoluted problem in the back of my head. Anyways, thank you for stating your opinion :)
