Thank you so much Denise. I really really enjoyed watching you create these long abstracts. I really don’t know about the Pez candy, but, it’s so funny bringing that memory back to you. Those abstracts are amazing and fantastic too, you should definitely frame them together with black card stock behind them and in between, that would really make them pop too. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤❤
I LOVE the stencils you got! I too prefer the smaller ones, but they were all so beautiful and unique! It was definitely worth joining, just to get those past stencils! I loved the flowered stencils too! 😍 Stencil Girl has some great stencils, I may have to go shopping! 😉😂 Have an awesome time playing with all of your new goodies, I look forward to watching you create!! 😊
Oh, love the stencils @8:55 😊 The flower one is ❤ And the 4 section ine after it And many of the smaller ones after them from the club. ❤ The graphite and similar for markings are really cool. I never thought I'd use them but today I do lol😅🎉
It's fun to see what You get and that You showing how it could be used and also tell if You've used different before and how that went. I wanna look into the sketchbox and Stencil Girls monthly kit.
Such fun to watch a Mystery Box opening! I haven’t done that yet? I guess I’ll have to seek it out! You are wonderful to watch, love the enthusiasm you share with us! Happy New Year! Karen Dirmish learner!
I used to get the Stencil Girl monthly! They have the best stencils. And I started Sketchbox this month, so excited about all the goodies! So glad to see you using this motnhs box to give me some inspiration!! Love watching your unboxings!!
I just unboxed my Dec palletful box and was not sure about it. But it goes to show, open your stuff, AND PLAY WITH IT!!!! Tall skinny works of abstract flowers, to me, were perfect. Not a PEZ, LOL. Happy Art Day for sure❤😊❤
I get as excited as you do when you open a box. I was delighted when you added water to the watercolor graphite pencils and the color appeared. Thank you for sharing your art haul and showing us how they are used. That tailors chalk is amazing. I do have a question separate from this video: you showed a color wheel in one of your videos and I have been able to find it. I also checked out your store...would you tell me which one it was? Thanks, Denise!
@@2lilowlsstudio Thank you! I just remember you mentioning that it was a bit pricey but that it was a good one. Don't knock yourself out looking for it. When I buy tools, I like to buy good quality but I'm sure whatever you have is good.
Denise,I don't know if you know of this subscrpition box, but there is a monthly one called "Scrawler Box" ithas materials, curated by a feaured artist,a print of that artist's work, a magazine and a prompt as a starting point. It's been around for a few yeras now,for every box purchased/sent they plant a tree. If you were lookig for a possible replacement for the two box subscriptions you have decised to cancel. Look itnto it if you have a liitle time, I thhink you can order a trial box/boxes. I think these boxes are a great way to discover new materials to add to your cache and the fact it's a mystery untill you open it is a good thing too. (matt)
I have heard of it too! I haven't tried it. It is out of the UK, and most of the ones I tried this year in addition to Sketchbox are in the US. I saw some unboxing videos of it when I was looking and didn't think I needed it... but you never know. I might revisit it since I'm dropping the other 2. Thank you! 🥰
@@2lilowlsstudio I love scrawlerbox because they are earth/eco friendly, not just for the trees they plant for each box sold, but the box itself is 100% recycled, the magazine is printed on recycled paper and with plant based inks and they also have a lot of materials that are exclusive to the boxes, plus your artwork could also be featured in future issues of the magazines that come in each box.(matt)
I love the stencil club. I keep telling myself to cancel, because i have way to many stencils, but then i get FOMO and tell myself just one more month.
Denise! Have you tried Julia K. Watercolors?! I’ve been playing with mine that came in the mail yesterday. They are Gorgeous! So fun to use! You helped me fine Masha’s watercolors and I wanted to return the favor. I’m sure I’m not the first person to mention them but I thought I’d leave a comment anyway! Looking forward to another year of making Art with you. Thank you for all of your inspiration!
Hello Denise. Love your videos. I have learned so much. I’m ready to dive in and try some watercolor painting. What are the best brushes to use that don’t shed hairs on your artwork.
I really like the Princeton Select brushes and the Rafael Soft Aqua quill mop is my favorite that I use in most videos (Raphael SoftAqua Brushes - amzn.to/3L5Bpq7). Thank you! 🥰
I just really liked your paper taped down. I know- I'm weird 😂 AND I loved those three little pic you did. I liked them before you put anything with the Taylor's Chalk. And then after- fabulous! Do you need to do fixative on top of graphite and Taylor's chalk etc? Also there are meanings to names of art supplies- what does it mean when a pen is a Pitt?? There are other things but can't think of them🤪Thanks Denise - oh I did love some of those stencils too!🎉❤
I love the paper tapped down too 😂 I think the names are just how they branded those. I haven’t heard that it means anything special. I only fix things if they would smudge. Soft pastels smudge - so I’d fix with pastel fixative. I list what I use in the description under my favorite stuff. 😊
Great video, as usual Denise. I don't have half your supplies, but had fun following along with a big ws graphite stick and some soft pastels and kuretake graphite green - turned out better than I expected ☺ May I ask your experience of Derwent inktense pencils? I got some via Amazon yesterday. I laid down some small test patches on watercolour paper last night and came back to them today, about 18 hours later, but when I went over them with water, they reactivated and the colour moved like watercolour. I thought they dried like ink and were permanent - have I missed something? Thanks for sharing your expertise, I have learned lots from you and love your humour! Love from Scotland 😊
hmmm.. I was thinking they were permanent too. This is what it says on the Derwent site: "Features Permanent when dry - doesn’t washout like watercolour. Layer up intense vibrant colours. Inktense pencils deliver vibrant and versatile colour. Perfect for a variety of projects, the watersoluble Inktense pencils can be applied wet or dry to a page to achieve different effects. Pencil provides added control for fine detail. Round 8mm barrel; wide 4mm core. Ink-like pigments come alive when water is added. Apply dry pencil to wet page or apply wet pencil to dry page. Colour becomes permanent once dry leaving an ink-like stain. Inktense can be layered and keep colours vivid. Inktense watersoluble, soft texture pencils are highly blendable Ideal for use on a variety of surfaces including ceramic, wood and fabric as well as paper" So I wonder if you had all the pigment water activated - or if there were still some that wasn't completely activated that moved when you rewet them. I have the Inktense - but I just don't use them hardly ever. The color is very vivid and I don't think about them.
@@2lilowlsstudio Thanks for that Denise. I have emailed Derwent and asked for their input - it will be interesting to hear what they say. Meanwhile, I've got a set of pencils that don't do what I thought they would do! Wish I could stop hitting that Buy Now button.....
I just keep mine in a clear tote and look through them when I want to use one. I’ve started putting a few of the bigger ones in clear sleeves because they catch on things and seem more delicate. 😊
Arggghh? Denise...lols? I have pre-order insomnia cos my $$ will be going out sometime this weekend because of you, you creative ladybug! I need to know what sort of micro fiber cloth you suggest to order from our favorite "A" store? You talk about it a lot in your videos and I am guessing you only need it for acrylics, soft pastels and graphite that sticks to our fingers whilst we are still creating and we do not plan for fingerprints to be used as stencils in our mixed media art piece? Plz can you list what you get m'dear? Also, is there a studio lamp you can suggest for natural Sunlight in our art studo - we are not going to record/photograph our art? So I am hunting that type and a quality one? "Bug session over for now" Thanks! ❤❤❤
