Do you sell small paleopacks? Or individual shark teeth? If so what are the prices. Love your videos, I've never been out of michigan before and it has always been a dream for me to find a megalodon tooth.
Great hunt guys. @2:40 Where you mentioned you didn't know how you silted up the water, I think a gator had just slid into the water. As you pan the camera you can see the bubbles where it could be laying on the bottom. Be careful out there.
🎶 the boys are back in…swamp… 🤔 Ya know…I probably should have thought that one out more. Awesome discoveries, noble paleo wild men. Thanks for the video.
We are the top predators in the places I go. The real concerns are snags like downed trees, fishing line/nets, equipment malfunction, etc. Animals are the least of my concern from a safety standpoint.
I just came across you both. I'm impressed with your photography very well done. Aren't you afraid of coming across a real live alligator? But I must say you found a lot of very cool stuff I had a good time diving with you thank you!!!
Thank you Sandy! I think alligators are pretty misunderstood. They usually do everything they can to avoid contact with people. I have been diving in sites where I could see a good size alligator across the river on a log and never had a problem. While it is always possible to have a negative encounter, I’m not too concerned. There are some sites I do not dive because the chance of negative encounters are much higher, though. You just have to be smart about it. Thanks for watching!
Cris, I find vertebrate fossils at the limestone mine i work at all the time. I have a lot of reference guides and google the skeletons of various vertebrates. How do you go about identifying your finds?
I have most of it memorized from years of experience, but when I was starting out, I did read quite a few books on vertebrate morphology, comparative anatomy and more basic books on common FL fossils. The Fossil Forum, an online community for fossil hunters, taught me a lot too. What area are you in with limestone mines?
@@PaleoCris North central florida, along the ocala limestone seem in alachua county, and like an hour or two from where the university has their dig sites.
Christopher Allison Very interesting, any vertebrate fossils there are probably from paleo sinks into the limestone that were filled in. Those could potentially be important finds depending on age. I’d be glad to help you ID anything if you send pics @paleocris on Instagram or Facebook (or you can email me, same name as my channel here @gmail.com)
@@PaleoCris They are usually in clay pockets of the overburden that is stripped off. Unfortunately, I lack any knowledge of where in the quarry and what conditions were around those pockets of of bones. as i am looking in old overburden dump sites for safety reasons. Though the clay is usually milk chocolate or blue-grey in color. We are picky about the limestone we mine as it is the feed to our cement production facility.
These are the waters I grew up swimming & snorkeling... We would catch GIGANTIC crawfish, pretty much freshwater lobster lol ... Not joking, like 8 / 9 inches long & chow down.
I was waiting for the token thunderstorm, but was disappointed. ;) WITHOUT the thunderstorm, how did you know when to go home? Also, that would be the most confused fish in the world... he has some stories to tell friends and family... ;)
Loved this dive you guys! Question. Do you keep these fossils for a collection at a museum or do you just enjoy it for yourself? Another question. How did you get into this? I’m fascinated and would love to join! Thanks for always being positive and fun! 🐳🌿🐊🦕🦖🦎🐢
Hi Heather, I donate any scientifically significant finds that need to be studied to a museum and I keep the rest. Sometimes I’ll sell off excess finds to find future trips when I need to make space. I started getting into this at a pretty young age. I remember picking up sea urchin fossils called echinoids at 6 years old or so, but it was a random discovery of a mammoth tooth in a creek that made me start hunting seriously at around age 14.
For those asking where they are hunting I am sure they are protecting the hunting sites from randoms. It is against Florida law to collect vertebrate fossils without a yearly permit (real cheep) from state land/waters. After they are collected any vertebrate fossils found will need to be documented (location) and presented to the Florida Museum. From what I have heard most often they will return such fossils to you if they are deemed to be unneeded. (overstock lol) This way the natural history is recorded and preserved. Least that is what I read off the Florida permit site. Can't get any new information for epic dino documentaries if everything goes right to the "black market". It's a huge issue right now. Most new species fossils are being found on the market with no known origin.
WOW, that was awesome !! you guys found some really great things ! I'd like to know the name of river you were on but realize you won't give up your spot. I live very close to the Rainbow River in Dunnellon,FL. have you ever been there ? crystal clear water that's 72 degrees year round. I'd like to see what you could find there.
Some great finds here but for me the healed turtle shell is a fav. I love fossils that let you peek into a story that played out millions of years ago.
I keep coming back to this video. Ze water is so vety, vety pretty. The guys aren’t hard on the eyes either. Dohs handsome boys!!! ☺️ *virtual fesh squish* I’m weird. Don’t mind me...or block me.

Its a funny consistency how velcro still sounds like velcro from above and under the water
That’s actually a good point and something I never really thought about.

Hi my name is koby I'm from New Zealand and love watching your videos
What's an alligator scute? Very cool finds! That fish was pretty curious wasn't it?
Great finds but I think I’m more impressed by how fearless that bluegill was…
I found a full mammoth vertebra this summer...it was freaking awesome
That fish was so cute. Cool experience
Really enjoy your videos and the knowledge that you share.
Not sure what a scute is but I love your videos... Please can you do some longer videos lol 😁 love from Ireland!! 😁

We were in Alabama and went down double bridges creek and found a pile of fossilized sanddollars
6:01 that fish. lol.
Those were great pictures of the bluegill!
Awwww man
Looks like fun. What do you guys do with all the fossils?
I found some fossil poo at my last fossil hunt in April. Cool video as always!!!

The first alligator tooth looked like you pulled in off the jaw bone without realizing it.
I this what plundering looks like?
LOL all the 'life gone past' things all have a name...the living blue gill fish remained anonymous
