The first whietail deer bone is a humerus, NOT a tibia as the caption says! I copied that text element in my editing program from another project and forgot to change the bone name. @@PaleoCris OK Cris, even though Bri is absent from any input during this video of your excursion, I'll still give it a "THUMBS-UP". But I hope you won't make a habit of excluding her. 😞 The "Bri Factor" is a critically important dynamic of your interesting videos. No disrespect intended...but...the music is "a bit" too distracting. The "natural" sounds of the water, you & Bri digging at the gravel, your vocal expressions, etc, is much more preferable than "muzak". 🙂 Best regards, Ben
You and Bri are an amazing team! Chris, your knowledge of fossils is mindblowing, and sharing that knowledge with others is your super power! You are a born teacher!!!!
I really enjoyed this video, thank you for sharing! The visual aid showing where the bone or plate was located was very helpful. Love the wildlife photography!
Thank you Laura! I was born in Miami, but am glad we got away from the city when I was still a baby. I’m glad to hear you enjoy the videos and that it helps bring FL to you!
I really like the edits where you show exactly what part of the animal it comes from, and you explain things as we go along. I prefer this style to just telling everything at the end. It makes everything that we are seeing make sense as we're seeing it.
Thank you for showing us where the pieces of fossil came from on the animal. Finding fossils is such a cool thing to do, but putting the pieces in perspective makes it outstanding. I found the turtle leg to be my favorite! They have such an adorable curve to their little legs that makes them more endearing.
Thank you for taking the time to share your outdoor adventures with us and all the great info about what you find. It is a great learning experience as well.
I love sharing these adventures with all of you and helping teach a little about what I know! Thank you very much for taking the time to watch the video and for leaving a nice comment!
ABSOLUTELY want to see more videos like this. I thought I was smart, but I learned more in 15 minutes than I've learned in the last 3 years. This was amazing and VERY informative. When I saw that beaver jaw with the incisor still in it coming out of the silt, I came out of my chair. Such a great trip! Thanks! p.s. The diagrams of the animals with the body parts highlighted REALLY came across well on this end. Excellent teaching tool.
I’m glad to hear that you enjoy that aspect of it. It’s a lot of work to edit, but I like conveying what I see in my head while finding them to you guys.
Amazing video! Heart info and the footage. Priceless! I living Canada and that river creeps me right out I’d be terrified of running into an alligator down there seriously!
OMG! You guys found all kinds of treasures! I love the sloth claw! It gives you an idea of just how enormous these things were! I was just looking on your website too. Ive bought 3 paleo packs already and its so much fun! I was looking specifically for something fun and different, and i love your coral necklaces! i may have to lick one up! Do your finds like these in the video, go up on the website for sale? Im a rock and fossil collector and fanatic! Thanks guys! Great video!
And to think…that claw is missing the proximal end..and it’s the bone claw core. The actual claw would have been way larger..and that’s a small sloth. I’m glad you enjoyed the packs so much and thanks for helping support these videos by ordering them! Yes, many of our finds like these do make it to the website. I really need to update the site with a ton of new fossils and minerals soon.
Best video ever! Loved the extra info about the fossils and the illustrations. Definitely would love to see more videos like this. Thanks guys! Stay safe.
Love the video! Can't wait for the next one. Tell us a about the fossils you find. I'm starting to be able to identify some before you tell us what they are. It's great!
So by watching your videos, I found a horse tooth last year and knew exactly what it was. I was and am so excited to have found it in southern IL. Well I also found another tooth near it. I didn't know till now thanks to you it's an horse incisor. It's most likely the same horse. How exciting!!!!! Thank u
The video layout is amazing! The fact that you can show us viewers where on the animal the fossil came from is absolutely epic. I love the channel and your guys content great stuff, keep it coming.
Your videos are awesome brother. Thanks to you, and a few of your friends, I can identify the fossils that you find before you call them out. I'd say I get 6 out of 10 right. Not too shabby. Thanks for sharing your experience, and wealth of knowledge.
This video was super informative and fun to watch. You and Bri are always super engaging and always able to convey the fun you're having onto us. On a totally random note, the music you had throughout sounded like something that would be in the background of Deer Hunter 2005 while you're gearing up for a hunting trip. 😀 Thanks for entertaining and educating unlike anyone else is able to. Keep on keepin' on!
Really cool video Cris! I enjoyed learning more about what animals and where in the animals that the fossils came from. It's awesome that you guys can recognize them underwater and half buried in the sand. Very impressive! Thanks for sharing!✌️🤠
Wow! What a fun and exciting adventure! Thank you for sharing! Please do more! So great that you showed us and then explained everything and informed of the animal and it’s details. So AWESOME!
Your video came out 3 days ago, but I didn't have the time to watch it until now, because I didn't want to rush through it but to have the time to sit down and enjoy it, knowing it would be great! Your nature and animal footage is always worth taking slow time to enjoy, and I learn something about fossils every time I watch. Thank you for taking the time to make great videos, to go out and trek through the outback, and allow me to vicariously come along for the adventure!
Great informational video! I live on the Peace River and I am inspired to start snorkeling for some of these fossils, after the rainy season when the water level subsides a little.
* Love your finding and explaining the animals that lived there & what size they were. So Cool.. Finding the Cat tooth was Fabulous.. You are good Teachers with your finds.. THANKS..
Awesome video with great explanations! How old is the fish mouth plate? As old as the shark teeth? One little correction: The bone at 1:35 is a humerus, not a tibia :) I love your explanations with the photos of the animals and the anatomy 👍🏻 Best regards from Germany
I can’t believe I did that! Haha, that’s one of the most common and easily identifiable bones we find here in the Pleistocene. Thanks for pointing it out. Yes, that fish mouth plate is also Eocene in age like that shark tooth I showed. Thanks for watching!
its an absolute treat following you guys on your fossile hunt. Chris, are you a paleontologist? your description and knowledge of everything you find is stunning and makes your excursions even more valuable
I am not Amira. I seriously considered going into the field years ago, but the amount of debt I’d be in from pursuing that degree and the fact that most paleontology jobs are for the oil industry pushed me away. Learning about nature is a lifelong pursuit for me though. As long as I’m breathing, I’ll be learning new things and sharing what I know with others.
Love watchingbbyour videos, too old to go traipsing around much anymore. Thank you for all your adventures!, your videos have gotten so good with time. Really enjoy all the info you let us in on.
Entoplasterons are always a favorite of mine but I think this time my favorites were the beaver incisor peice and jaw bone and that bird bone. I can't believe that bird bone survived to fossilize. Oh and the jaguar tooth was freaking cool! Then again that sloth claw was really cool too....it's so hard to pick a favorite!
Great info on the different species, I have found numerous fossilized bones since I was just a kid here in Florida. Simply had no idea what type of critters they were from.
Oh my I think you can find Chris incredible I really get a check into your site I would love a Meg tooth and a few other little beautiful things you found
Yeah ur videos are so educational. I found a horse tooth after 3 weeks of watching your video, it was amazing to know what it was on site. Thank y’all so very much.
Thank you for including the highlighted parts in the animals to show where a fossil comes from. It is really helpful!
