Some bodies, gonna get hurt. Mert. One of his most popular stand up is when he's talking about his Dad when he was a Kid. He does the Indian accent perfect.
Russell is a Canadian comedy icon of this era. He has many stand up specials you can look in to.. and in his peak era he was breaking records with his ticket sales back in the day... if memory serves me correct here. Anyways.. once you dive into his comedy.. it's a rabbit hole of so much great comedy to be consumed. His take on his childhood growing up with immigrant Indian parents is beyond hysterical.. and there is his very bold take on abusing his audience of every race and religion.. that actually shows that no one is safe.. and to be honest .. how we can ALL laugh at ourselves and not take it personally. He's found that magical balance. Well that's my opinion. I lovvvvve Russell Peters!!!
Hi Mert ~ Checkout Shaun Majumder and “This Hour has 22 Minutes”, if you want to experience a bunch of Newfoundlanders producing some of the best comedy! Peters doesn’t have the same perspective or experience. Also, Rick Mercer, Shaun Majumder and a vast number of the comedians on the CBC show, “This Hour has 22 Minutes” are actually from Newfoundland. Cheers!☺
Shaun Majumder. He is a very talented but has an Indian father and a Newfoundland mother. So he grew up kind of in the middle of both worlds and his school project about his family tree, is one of my favorite bits. Check it out
Russell's great at self deprecating humour. It's good we can laugh at ourselves without getting offended. You can also check out Vancouver comedian Ian Bagg who's great with crowd work and improv.
Aww, I was hoping for some more good-natured teasing from Russell about Newfoundland accents. He does make fun of his father's accent unmercifully in a lot of his early stuff at Montreal's "Just For Laughs" Comedy Festival. 😅 And yes, we do tend to inhale the word "Yeah", especially when it's said three times in confirming or agreeing with something said. Say the first two words normally, and the third on an inhale: "Yes, yes ... yeah!" 😊
I highly recommend "Russell Peters: Comedy Now." It's the one hour (including commercials) special that made Russell Peters famous. It has all of the classic bits he's known for.
The inhaled word "yep/yeah/yes" is absolutely a real thing... Very common in the Maritimes... It's a very rare phenomenon in spoken language to pronounce a word on an inhaled breath. It's done in Ireland and Eastern Canada. Maybe a couple of other places
half my family is from newfoundland its pretty on point my aunts and unlces being half native the family is hilarious to look at. they go white, white, red, white, red, red id go on but there are 13 of them 🤣
The East Coasters can gab, that's for sure. I have a friend that lives in Cape Breton (very close to Newfoundland). She will start talking and you cannot insert one word. It is a bit annoying lol But they are so lovely in the East. You can't get mad. You learn to interrupt with dexterity. lol
Nfld’ers don’t appreciate people who have never been there, & know nothing about it’s history /culture - but still make use of incorrect & negative stereotypes (even as a joke)….like they understand the place & it’s still funny!!! 🤔
Russel Peters Comedy Now set is priceless. Also a bit form a legend, Mike MacDonald who was once voted "The king of Canadain Comedy"... ruclips.net/video/RahqT1aP8HM/видео.html
Russel Peters' early stuff is drop-dead hilarious. This looks like a Vegas show. Good on im. But for more energy. He was once the top selling comic in the world. Go back a bit. He broke rules, man. But in a positive way.
The best special he's ever had was about 20 years ago, on Comedy Now. It's clean, but funny as heck. This was his best material imo. ruclips.net/video/_f8YFQKoqHs/видео.html
Another piece from Russell Peters you might like (that is on RUclips in a number of places) is: "How to Become a Canadian." It is between 5 min. - 6 min. long, depending on whose video version of it you watch. All the best.
I feel like his description of “white white” is totally a Canadian/North American thing. Yeah Europeans are white, but white white is like British/Scottish ancestry who have lived in North America for generations.
He isn't Indian. Both his parents are Anglo Indians. Kind of like the Metis of India. European males ,from when the British controlled India, would take Indian brides and the mixed children were called Anglo Indians. Those children then married other Anglo Indians. They were usually Catholic or Anglican and have European surnames. Russell Peters is his real name. And his father spoke very British, did not have an Indian accent as most think. My father in law was Anglo Indian and he grew up with ALOT of racism . From both British and South Asians. Eurasian on the other hand are the offspring off a make South Asian and a white bride. They are raised with a South Asian surname and the culture of their father.
He probably wont get re-elected next year but at least he can take comfort in the fact that he'll have plenty of rent free real estate in the minds of all you salty right wing Canadians who can't seem to stop thinking about him every moment of every day.

I saw Russell Peters in a comedy club back in 2000 before he was famous. The show was great and memorable.
Russell's great at self deprecating humour. It's good we can laugh at ourselves without getting offended. You can also check out Vancouver comedian Ian Bagg who's great with crowd work and improv.
You MUST hear the bit he does about Pacific Mall. It's hilarious!
I like Danny Bhoy's joke where he says "I'm half Indian, so unlike most Scots, I don't get sunburned.
...Watching fireworks."

Yes, that's true about the breathing in with words.
I highly recommend "Russell Peters: Comedy Now." It's the one hour (including commercials) special that made Russell Peters famous. It has all of the classic bits he's known for.
Russell Peters is awesome. This is up there with his best work. His "Red, White and Brown" stuff is fabulous.
Yes, I've noticed the breathing in when talking thing before in Newfie friends and acquaintances.
The inhaled word "yep/yeah/yes" is absolutely a real thing... Very common in the Maritimes... It's a very rare phenomenon in spoken language to pronounce a word on an inhaled breath. It's done in Ireland and Eastern Canada. Maybe a couple of other places
He exaggerated it tho at first I didn't get what he was doing.

Shaun Majumder in This Hour Has 22 Minutes and the Bragg & Sons skits!
We definitely have many inhale words. Usually multiple yeahs or yups.
Russels's bit about Asian accents from years ago is great if you can find it.
Russell Peters is a Canadian icon! Sad to see the racism Indo-Canadians are facing nowadays

He is funny 😆 😊
Look at some of his earlier stuff before political correctness . Thanks for reacting.

I live in Alberta so I've come the closest I can to Newfie culture without having been there lol.
Love Russel Peters!

You should check out Russell Peters BBQ (How to be Canadian)!
You should watch his Christmas special!!
You should have watched his "beat your kids" bit if you wanted a really good introduction to his style of standup.
Yeah is inhaled in Newfoundland, Nunavut, and some European speech.

For dark humour, look at Sugar Sammy
Love russell peters - he insults in a gentle, funny way, all ethnic groups. As an Indian/Canadian he can get away with a lot.....
