@@sugar6star I went 5+ years with an outdated iphone 5s and not once did I ever have charging cable issues. When I switched to Android it was almost impossible to connect with my PC within the first month, and this has persisted. Definitely going back to apple ASAP.

Just saw this error on my Galaxy Note 8. This video was definitely helpful. My issue ended up being that the side of the USB cable that plugs into the power brick wasn't completely inserted into the power brick. Once I fixed that and reconnected my phone, the error went away.
Actually what he said will fix most people's charging issues. It fixed mine and for you it's common sense but how it is common sense when you're talking about tech? Not everyone is tech savy or can be as much of a smartarse as you.

Thanks man, in my case it was the connector to the wall plug which wasn't in properly, but it must have caused the same issue of a weak connection. The cable which Samsung includes is so short it has to be pulled tight to reach a desk edge.

Turns out i had a problem with my cable, it was an aftermarket one because the orig one was too short, originaly the aftermarket one supported fastcharging but all of a sudden it continuously dropped the check connection, oftentimes it would switch to fast charging but if i was to unplug it it would do the check connection all over again and the process of getting the fast charge started taking like 10 mins of plugging in and out, i just swapped the cable and it works like a charm

This is a common sense fix, with regards to checking your cable is properly pushed into your device. There is another issue with this pop up, where you cannot transfer from your phone to pc, when you plug the cable in this error pops up, thought this video was a fix to that.

Another possible cause is a dirty charging port/lint buildup in the port, which was the cause in my case. Use a needle or pin to clean it up.

Yes, it is actually the usb port on your PC that is the issue. As the more modern usb ports will throw up this error.
