Petition for arsey sock man to be the new channel sidekick. 😆 Yeah I agree with you, there's options for everyone at other festivals. But looks like a lot of people specifically want Download to be what they want. There's enough stuff on this lineup that if I was able to go next year then I would, coming from someone who is primarily into the extreme side of metal. Just need to look further down the poster past the headliners.
Crusty Sock will be about when his limited opinion is needed. I might finish his outfit one day. Might also drag him to festivals so he expands his musical taste. The undercard is so varied it's crazy. Ah well, I doubt the people that this is aimed at will ever get the message or listen to it.
I used to love QOTSA, i thought he was the coolest thing ever to have walked the face of the earth, and their music was fab. Then a bloke at work said they were a bit middle aged overweight blues band in a seaside town doing eric clapton covers, and i've sadly never seen them in the same light since... have they even got any new music to headline with? I'll have to do my research and see. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Apparently they've got a lot of new stuff. I genuinely haven't heard them put out anything since Songs For The Deaf, so I'm sure most of their set will be new to me. I'll have a gander, but if something piques my interest a bit more down in the village, I'll go hit that up. Some weird acoustic set or "secret" band would do my nicely.
I’m really excited for this years lineup, although admittedly I’ve been going to reading and Leeds for nearly 15 years so maybe I’m not the target market, I’ve loved metal my entire life though, just not really into the legacy acts that usually play like Maiden, Priest and the sort
I honestly think that this year you might be the target. They do seem to be expanding their base and it's what Download desperately needs. Fresh blood and new eyes on the event.
It’s an ok line up, a lot of fun stuff in the undercard. I’m the dude that misses the classic rock, and did last year tbh. Download is about much more than the bands though, and I’ll have a nice time anyway! If we was all the same, life would be pretty boring.
You've actually mentioned what I was thinking of doing a video on next. I miss things outside of the music like the skate competitions, the circus of horrors, the wrestling, the extra entertainment like a circus sideshow going on. Granted it's only been back on for two years proper, but it's something that feels lacking.
@@brickinmouthsyndrome well last year, Metallica took up a huge amount of space. Them awesome screens, had pretty large footprints. People fighting in medieval war gear! Let’s go! Think with a larger chance of a smaller attendance this year, we could see a lot of that sort of fun returning :)
I agree with one very small caveat, there's no Black Metal at the event. There's tons of extreme metal there though so to people saying that is unfortunately wrong, the one minor gripe I would possibly have with the headliners is that typically they don't have anyone clashing with them. If they have a band like Machine Head clashing with Fall Out Boy it's one of the best lineups for me
Very fair point actually. There are more bands to be announced, so there's a chance more can be slipped in. There is always something else going on in the Village/District X when the headliners on. And there might be some crossover so you can finish out on a band while main is starting off.
It’s a great lineup! Especially this many bands revealed in November …metal lovers scared is a good thing too I can remember Skunk Anansie literally blowing all the other supposed ‘metal’ bands off stage one year they played Chug chug twiddly weeeeeee
It's been the most infuriating thing I've had to deal with. Gatekeeping in any sort of fandom, be it music, gaming, comics, cinema, is just so wrong. We're all a bunch of misfits that like odd stuff, why people can't just accept that people like different things I'll never understand.
That's a ticket sales issue. A7x have headlined before, they sell more tickets on their tours. Machine Head are still kinda niche over here, decent sized and very vocal following, but the sales don't add up. Even I'll admit I was surprised that QOTSA managed to sell 88k tickets for their arena tour. But Machine Head haven't even done that. They're not in arenas.
The sock stays in the picture.
OK, I can do that.
Yesss. More Metal!!!@@brickinmouthsyndrome
One band I highly recommend on the undercard is Halocene, Female fronted very talented, super independent.
I'm gonna have to check that out then. Love championing independent female acts. Always makes a couple people unsub and clears out the trash.

Babymetal going to download again probably is the most hype for me, their live performances are just great.
I'm really looking forward to them. Might get some glow sticks and see if I can learn some of the dances. Might make for funny content.
10-4. Just saw them in Toronto and that was the most fun I've ever had at a metal gig.

I'd be well up for some medieval mma. Recently started watching Knight Fights. It's a bit brutal.

If my autistic ass can know that different is good, other people will just have to get over it.
Well said sick of the gate keeper in metal amd rock atm

Machine head, i just don’t get why they are supporting Avenged when it should be the other way round.
