I've watched this particular clip hundreds of time, and I am still astounded by this man's talent. Peter Sellers was an extremely gifted comedian/musician/actor, but his amazing impressions trump the lot, in my opinion. Thanks so much for sharing. I have to go practise on my uke now ;)
I remember my first girlfriend got me a uke as a surprise present after I'd mentioned it in passing. I nearly cried. I got to play some chords and my own compositions but never really got good but enjoyed it. We were listening to When I'm Cleaning Windows the first time we made love. I married her. Still together. Still happy.
Absolutely brilliant… he was also a great Jazz drummer.. a man of pure talent… how he remembered all the lyrics for this song.. it’s a gift from God.. no other explanation 🙂
Oh, Peter was a hell of artist, performer and a man! His impersonifications were something else! He was able to speak by phone exactly like the person who he wanted to imitate because it was soo perfectly done! He has had his probs but the he has that special class as an artist he held it was from the highest shelves! I am still giggling watching "The Party" or "Inspector Clouseau"...Rest in Peace, Dear Peter! You're so badly missed nowadays at this silly and cowardly up-side-down thrown world!
George Formby and Peter Sellers is quite a combination! It's too bad more folks don't appreciate what a brilliant actor he is, and it's unfortunate he had a troubled life. At least we still can see his movies today, though I'll always wish there were more. Cheers for this!
+Kevin Wootton George was a great player but he could only finger for the key of C major, so he had loads of uke's all differently tuned so he could play in any key using the same fingering., clever stuff.
I really miss the pure talent of Peter Sellers. I didn't know he could play the Ukulele. He just seemed to make everyone smile no matter where he went. A great sorely missed.
He is so so funny especially as Inspector Clouseau! And then this George Formby impression! WOW Incredibly talented man. Unlike the bulls*"t they call comedy, these days.
@@anythingoldmechanical hi, ha ha of course! We actually called our own parrot NumNum. Sadly he died after swallowing a ball bearing.. anyway, what about the dinner table scene! I often think about him in that little chair 😂😂😂
Peter Sellers - my all time favourite - brilliant rendition here - what a shame it cuts off at the end. My favourite Sellers film: The Party. Genius! RIP Funny man.
.Sellers a comic genius - widely mourned by millions - a true giant in his heyday and Formby a virtuoso on his banjo-uke loved George since a kid and saw him on TV each and every week
+juv7 Yes but he could be nasty, only left his kids £700 each the rest went to his 4th wife Lynn Fredrick, an alcoholic who died young, she remarried and the money went to her daughter, no relation to Peter at all, Peter did have heart problems, was one of the first to get a pacemaker back in 1964, but too many drugs in the 60/70 let him with a very weak heart, he was booked in for a bypass but died a week before the operation, sad but true..
Ooo so many connections. Sellers mentioned Ravi Shankar, good friend of George Harrison... who just happened to be a member of the George Formby appreciation society and played the uke. Sellers also sold Ringo a house.
I play the banjolele and guitar been, playing for many years now just love it, can't read music tho But thanks to RUclips which is a great help with lots of talented people out there to listen too, just want to say Thank you.
Thanks for sharing tony boland ;-) Peter was an amazing talent that the world needs more of! I also LOVE good ol' Formby...what a talent! And to have Peter performing on Parkinson...you've got the best of ALL worlds!!
Just found this Tony! Really cool. Too bad he died so young. What a talented guy. Love watching the videos of the band he had too. I put it on a favorite list.
I think that if those two got into a Formby soundalike competition, Sellers would win. But then again, Sellers would probably beat a lot of originals at that.
only 54 when he died in 1980. such a talented man. amazing variety of voices, great actor and of course one of the Goons whose humour is still funny today
I swear the girl from number 4 makes love to James Bond on the floor. She keeps on shouting roger more. When I'm cleaning windows. Hey hey turned out nice again!
Awe! the end got cut off; but amazing none the less! Sellers did the George Formby National... an amazing bit he recorded on "Seller's Market" where he did all the voices of the international Formby club doing various impressions at wembley stadium! Fun stuff!
Peter Sellers, absolutely brilliant, god rest his soul
What a talented man he was.
A true legend
Come on who doesn't love the late great Peter sellers he was brilliant
Peter Sellers singing George Formby doesn't get much better than that :) thanks
COOLSAMMYJO CAT floandjoan
He was the funniest actor ever lived! His imitations were uncanny. We miss him.
I agree but I was thinking maybe Groucho.
Sellers looks so happy doing this.
It's a happy instrument. Whenever I play mine, life feels so much better.
He does. And he's brilliant. Look at the chord changes. Amazing. Probably one of the few times he ever was happy.
A time when you had to have talent to get on tv. 👍👍👍👍👍
Those split strums that were a Formby specialty played perfectly. Real talent.
My grandfather is 92 and loves to sing this song all the time.
Paul Hunter 👍😊
God he was absolutely adorable. He had his problems but he was a hell of a performer.
Of course he was, who doesn't, and by the devil, yes! In that order.

A true great. Just wish there were more great scripts around for this monumental talent to get his teeth into.

you were listening to this song during your first time? what decade was this?
Brilliant. So the moral of your story is...women should listen to their men....I want a Porsche 911...!!!
How tf do you maintain an erection while listening to George Formby. Props to you
Kinky
So random lol
Thanks for this. Sellers and Formby - what a pair!
Absolutely brilliant… he was also a great Jazz drummer.. a man of pure talent… how he remembered all the lyrics for this song.. it’s a gift from God.. no other explanation 🙂
Only found this the other day. Can't stop watching. GENIUS 👌 🇬🇧🇬🇧
That was great! Stuff like this makes RUclips worth the chaff.
If this doesn't put a smile on your face, then you're dead inside.
I was looking up George Harrison and his ukelele--somehow came across this gem. I had no idea Peter Sellers could play the ukelele!
He was also a pretty good jazz drummer:)
I've got an album actually - "George Harrison Ukulele Classics". It's a bootleg.
Excellent uke player - look up "Haven't told her' as well!
Gone are the days are real talent.. RIP Peter
plenty of real talent around. Just open your eyes, ears, and heart.

Good stuff. I am 58 never played a thing in my life, and just got a Ukulele for Christmas.
Good luck with the uke Kevin - enjoy it :-)

Have you learned yet?
Hows the uke playing now?
Hmm. Might not be going well
My 15 year old daughter plays ukulele I'll have to show her this. Classic.
I really miss the pure talent of Peter Sellers. I didn't know he could play the Ukulele. He just seemed to make everyone smile no matter where he went. A great sorely missed.
He was also very proficient on the drums apparently. Played jazz in his youth:)
Watched in amazement. Genius at work.
Formby...Sellers...man i m getting old... I don t understand this century...it was beter long time ago ...

He is so so funny especially as Inspector Clouseau! And then this George Formby impression! WOW Incredibly talented man. Unlike the bulls*"t they call comedy, these days.
